And today I definitely felt her pain was shortchanged ... so I also felt impatient with Rudra's tears.

The makers need to strike a balance ... they did it beautifully in the first few weeks of the show, but they are leaning too much to Rudra's side now ... and that is a big mistake, because Paro and her pain will connect more with the audience. More women watch these shows than men, and Paro's situation is something that many can relate to ... but it is being glossed over.

@red: di i think this is the reason i actually posted this! cz last time too i had a problem after the 1st 1 year passed. so seeing the deja vu feel i was angry n posted..

well i think i also shouldn't really type anything when i am angry! cz it definitely came off harsher than i intended or right now intend!

I don't think it's a question of dehumanizing Rudra, MKM.
Nor do I think the TM is debating his suffering-- she is commenting on his inability to deal with his pain and thereby how his actions are coloured by his past.
That seems like a perfectly legitimate thing to be talking about.

I am probably terribly insensitive, but I find myself tiring of this effort to wrench sympathy by giving the male leads a traumatic past, and milking it for time immemorial. Without going into the rights and wrongs of it, it is lazy story-telling.
I like the occasional hints they drop where Rudra is aware of how damaged he is. Those moments are rare and genuine. And it speaks of a more complex characterization process.

I am not going to compare Rudra and Paro-- they are two very different characters. But I do feel it is a valid point to consider when some viewers not only stop empathizing with the characters, but also start getting annoyed with their actions.
Are we slowing down too much? Are we being repetitive? Is the direction poor? Could the acting improve? I am certainly forced to consider these possibilities.

thank u very much! i was annoyed today with the way Paro's suffering being shown was short changed and his was given more prominence... it wasn't as in weighting theirs against each other..
its simply annoyance at the lack of portrayal of one and too much portrayal of the other..

See tht is the thing this too much milking thing after a while gets annoying. i want to connect to these characters and when the disparities show u feel resentful and it makes u question some things!

@red - that would be a very good character development side i would like to watch.. and probably will be able to empathize with him then.. rather than feeling annoyed..

I always wonder is it that its men who seem to be story writers that has resulted in this one dimensional writing!

Many great playwrights have been males through the ages ...So i don't think it is the gender of the writer ...but the current medium and its expectations...

Sun hun you echoed my thoughts I posted this elsewhere it is tiring and a question of overkill I am just waiting for Laila to brood over his past along with that watchman and stray dog at the school
Seriously am so tired of his boohoo crying Creatives its called overdone
And that is why I don't like ST shows I know the damage he is capable of He reduced his FL in MB1 to a prop Imagine having a serial named after you and have the plots and tracks revolve around the ML
I like soaps with 2 LEADS I have a healthy life that does not need me to vicariously live through an alpha male
I do understand your sentiments Another time another place I would have waged wars over the characters but now have the wisdom to know its just characters and fictional at that and my life has more pressing issues

And here comes Sunara with another thoughtful post :)
I am completely against this trend of Mama's boy turning bitter for the rest of his life over one isolated childhood tragedy. That's so unreal, period. Children who survive ruthless wars where they lose everyone and everything manage to engineer a positive outlook towards life once they are brought into a nurturing environment. There have been numerous such cases in the real world. So yeah I have to abandon logic to be able to relate to something so unreal which I can't.

And you also rightly pointed out that the girl's real, current grief is overlooked in order to foreground the guy's one ancient grief. We obviously see that in Paro and Rudra's case too. I completely agree that the current circumstances of Paro are far more tragic than Rudra's. But the creatives are not portraying this...

Having said that, I must acknowledge that I understand Rudra not being able to overcome his childhood tragedy and the reason is that he was never in a nurturing environment. That's why it has been emphasized multiple times that Rudra's sole purpose in life is maintaining the honor of his uniform. I mean imagine living a life so meaningless where your career is all that you have. So to me Rudra has a psychological problem. He's not a normal human and hence it makes sense to see him clinging onto his past as if he is still in that time period.

sorry Vicky i am annoyed and sorry for offending u.. with the disparity of portrayals i feel as if they r hiding and not showing her pain as they expect women to need less sympathy than men.

its not just this show.. i think i tried to generalize too without taking names as its not allowed here.. it was more about the portrayal of men with mummy issues in Indian shows these past few yes..

In this case in this show I don't think you can compare the pain of the two leads and decide which is more and which is less...only the person going through it can understand that I guess!

I think saying they need to show Paros pain also is fine but to go ahead and say that his pain should simply not be as much as hers is unfair certainly! They have provided enough background to justify showing Rudra's pain.

If Paro were to break down often she would still receive sympathy right???
In the present situation obviously with thakurain set to return they are setting up the track so as to show the extreme hatred Rudra has for the same person whom Paro reveres!

Oh and WHAT on earth are you apologizing for?! If there's someone on this forum who has an issue with this post, that person seriously needs to get a life. It's a healthy topic of discussion regardless of whether you agree or disagree and that's that.

Still he can't over-come his past . He cried today because that song brought back his memories with his mom.He love is mom so much . He still can't accept the fact is mom left him. So I find Rudra breaking down and crying apt for the situation. .That scene made me emotional.

Men also cry and I am one among those men who cry.

I also want CV's to equally focus in showing Paro's emotional trauma and show her pain also.
