Everyone Paro knew refuses to recognize her...everyone except one person who Rudra, in his wounded glory, has not yet had the time to errr...meet: Laila
I bet, besides to scare the dulhan about the wayward ways of very handsome men, that the point of their meeting was to bridge a connection between them, just so that Rudra can get a basic foundation of Paro and where Paro comes from. Especially now that everyone refuses to vouch for Paro and Paro herself isn't talking. Laila is not from Birpur (if I remember correctly) so whatever Thakur sa has said to the villagers won't work for her. And her loyalties are with moustachio, so much so that she'd do anything for him to glance at her way.
Laila can easily spot the weepy dulhan from a mile away...maybe say at the BSD station, where Laila sneaks in to see to tend to moustachio's wounds and he was nice enough to let Paro out of her cell or something. Laila could then inquire to Rudra why she hasn't left town with her groom...leading to another way for the story to unfold.
EDITED: With this post, I meant more that Laila (and/or Kesari) could also privately confirm to Rudra that Paro is the dulhan. I don't think either Laila or Kesari for that matter can provide a public testimony that anyone would believe in.
