Part 77

Khanak tiptoes into her room, Aayush in her arms, he had slept on the living room couch, Khanak carried him to his room. Room is a bit dark, Shaan who had been pacing the room calms to halt, looks at her, she kneels down and slowly makes him sleep on his bed.
When she gets up she careens into her hubby, she in shock; steps back and hits the wall at the back he moves forward.
Shaan: Khanak! please mujhse baat to karo..
She shakes her head in no..
This rages him, he's finding chance to talk with her n she's like..acting mad...he steps back a little, she sees that the distance increases slowly, she doesn't know what to do, he turns his back to her, she uses the chance and moves out.
She's stuck in the middle, she slowly turns back to look, its Shaan once again..
Shaan: Khanak, main tumse baat karni ki koshish kar rahan hun aur tum ho ki..(her hand held by him)
Khanak: why?? (incredulous)
Shaan: what, why?? tum ghar vaapis nahi chalna chahthi?? (more serious)
Khanak is silent..
Shaan: kuch toh bolo (shakes her very badly)
Khanak:i don't have anything to tell..
This infuriates him more..
Shaan: ok then i'll give you a hint (furious), WHY THE HELL YOU HAD TO LEAVE THE HOUSE??
Khanak: why the hell you had to ignore him?? (tears well up)
Shaan: thoda sa wait nahi kar sakthi thi, i needed some time..
Khanak: aur kitna time shaan, it was more than 24hrs..(tears start to flow)
Shaan: first of all stop crying!!
Khanak: no!! why does it bother you?
Shaan: yeh kaisa sawaal hain Khanak?? and waise, i had come to the hospital, why did you go with Aman??
Khanak (furious): what?? i had to discuss with him about a case..

Releases herself from his hands, S is stunned, he just looks over...

Shaan woke up, startling himself, looks next to him, Aayush is not there, now Shaan is sure, that she's more furious, it was stupid of him to ask her that question, when he had settle his problems with her….

Last night she had walked back to the room, where she and Nisha were staying, he just wanted to go and bang the door, but he didn't do that, as he didn't wanted to advertise his relationship with his wife, but he did enjoy the last fight, finally she had spoke to him, though that had made her cry some more…

He twitches his lips, decides next time to be slow and calm with her, first sort out the problems, make her agree to go back with him and then talk about the things, which he wanted to, and wanted to scold for….

He freshens, steps out, sees his son, engrossed in his breakfast and TV, wonders where his wife is?? He slowly walks over to kitchen area, but no, she isn't there…

The thought which scares him now is, did she run away from here also??? This thought panics him, he walks out…

Shaan: Aayush!! Where's your mom??

Aayush: (looking into TV) Mom, chali gayi!! (says coolly)

Shaan, panic striken, sits next to Aayush, as though he was stroken by thunder, before he could ask,

Aayush: don't worry papa, Mom, hospital gayi hain…

Shaan lets out a long breathe, but wants to know about her mood…

Shaan: Aayush, how's your mom?? I mean, is she angry??

Aayush, now looks at his papa, Shaan's eyes are waiting for his answer, curiously,

Aayush: papa aap phirse mom se jhagad rahe ho kya?? (eyes narrowed)

Shaan: (extremely alerted) umm..No!! main toh bus aise hi…(smiles widely, at his son)

Shaan: I'll go get ready for the hospital too…(fumbles, gets up and walks back into the room)

Shaan gets into the hospital, ofcourse, with his son, Shaan had to see only the cancer guy, he reached to his room, Khanak was summoned to be there, she gets there in no time….

Shaan waits for her to check the guy, she does, checks his pulse, his BP…..all silently, at last when she's done, she looks back at him, straight in his eyes, and explains back everything to him, Shaan can't read what's happening, he knows that she's furious, but still doesn't want to talk it out….Its just so different when she's sad or when she's fighting…

When she's sad, she would approach him directly, when she's fighting, she would stay away from him, she would forget the fight eventually, at the end of the day, they would have curled in his bed or may be playing with Aayush…

Both of them step out, Aayush runs into her, she gets hold of him smiling….

Khanak: Aayush, you must be resting, right??

Aayush: Mom, im fine….(trying to hold his breath)

Khanak shakes her head, can't tell him much or as usually she can't scold him for being him, that's what she loves…we don't know when the hubby's time will come, actually…

Khanak: are you coming with me, or are you going with papa??

Shaan's ears cock up, hearing papa….He's still waiting…

Aayush, is very bad at this, he can't decide between his mom and papa, he just knows that he wants both, but when it comes to deciding b/w his mom and papa, he's always left with a confused mind, till now he doesn't know why he can't make his choice, just like his mom!!

Aayush: Mom…um…saath main chalthe hain na, papa bhi aayenge, kyun papa?? (looks up at Shaan)

Shaan is busy staring at his wife…And suddenly,

Shaan: No, Aayush, I've to go meet with other doctors, you go with your mom…

Khanak doesn't look back at him, Aayush bids him bye, Shaan smiles at him….There once again he gets to see the retracting back of his wife and son….

After about an hour, Aayush is playing in the swing placed in pediatric department, Khanak is sitting on the bench, placed along the corridors, Nisha sitting next to her…

Nisha: abb kya hua?? Don't tell me that you fought with him??

Khanak: yeah! (stretches her legs and neck)

Nisha: kya?? He looks so sweet, aap unse kaise lad sakthe ho?? Agar main ho thi na….(smiles widely)

Khanak very well knows what she's trying to tell…

Khanak: (looks over at her) you know what, at times your just…(shakes her head)

Nisha laughs openly, Khanak joins too…

Nisha: arrey yaar, aur kitna thadpooge maan jao na…

Khanak, is about to give a fitting reply, suddenly Dr.Shantanu buzzes over there….

Shaan: (there's place next to Nisha, he moves next to Khanak, lappy in his hands) make place..(he orders)

Both are startled, Nisha moves, Khanak moves, Shaan sits next to his wife…

Shaan: you didn't tell me, that your results were going to be out today… (staring at the laptop screen)

Nisha, thinks she should be not there, she tries to get up, but Khanak holds her hand, Khanak very well knows, of Nisha is gone, they would end up fighting like the last night…

Nisha glares at her, Khanak shales her head as if telling no, don't go…

Shaan, does see that…

Shaan: Now, will you tell you're register number??

Khanak, looks on, then tells him her number, he types it…they all wait, now Nisha is curious, Khanak's heart beat to the mountain level, her hands start to tremble, he gets the hold of one, which she had placed on the bench, it loads up…

Shaan looks into the screen, smiles wildly, indeed he was succeeded….

Khanak peers through on of her eye, she sees passed, she opens wide open, pulls the lappy over onto her lap, her smile growing wide…Nisha looks over…

Shaan: (in her ears) Congratulations!! Mrs. Shantanu Khandelwal, you've topped!!

She giggles hearing that, from his mouth, the man who was responsible for her excellence, the man she was blessed, the man, who knows her very well, the man who's just made for her….She looks at him with the same smile, she passes the laptop to Nisha, Nisha grabs it…

Without any further ado, she hugs him, he hugs her back, tightly though, both are very happy, its just the same, when they had been together, they would have done the same…

She whispers..

Khanak: Thank you!! Thank you for being with me…Thank you for everything!!

Shaan: you're welcome…(he says, as he chuckles)

Nisha: eeksss!!

They both are brought back down to the earth, they move away, only, for Khanak to be hugged by Nisha…

Nisha: (breaking the hug) treat toh banti hain!! (grins)

Khanak: ofcourse!! (smiles)

Aayush runs back to her, he wishes her, she hugs him and kisses him on his cheek, he rubs his cheek…All three of them laughs at his antics…

Shaan's phone rings, he gets up, its Raj….

Raj: Shaan results are out…I wish I could see it with Khanak…I wanted to congratulate her, finally she bet me….(blabbers on)

Shaan: toh kya hua, use ke saath baat toh kar hi saktha hain..(smiles smugly)

Before Raj could even react to what he had told….Shaan had handed his phone to her, she received it with a questioning look, he just smiled…

Khanak: (into the cell phone) hello?? (getting up from her place)

Raj: oh my god!! Its you!! Stupid where have you been?? Pata hain, pira Mumbai doond dala tumhe, Dhruv kitna tensed hain pata hain tumhe?? Hame chod, Shaan aur Aayush?? You're just so idiotic, Khanak!! I feel like whacking you now itself!! (goes on and on)

Khanak holds the phone away from her so that she could be spared away from the scolding…

Shaan chuckles seeing that, Nisha and Aayush are planning for a party…

Khanak: Raj!! Take a breath!!

Raj: tu teek tho hai na?? (concerned)

Khanak: yess boss!! Full fit and fine!! (smiles)

Raj: pagal kahi ki, mujhe bata nahi sakthi thi, that you and Shaan were fighting…

Khanak: I don't know Raj, kya hua, im sorry…

Raj: abb waapis toh aajao yaar…Maaf bhi karde use…

Khanak: kardungi, pehle use manane toh de…

Raj: kya?? Abhi tak usne kuch kiya hi nahi?? Kitna dumbo hain, tumhari tarah…

Khanak: oye!! Think before you talk ahh!! (warns)

Raj: haaye!! Apne pati ki defend kar rahi hain!!

Khanak blushes at the statement…
