This Bollywood newcomer woke up restless at 3 Am: The result? Song 'Pigeon Kabootar' in 'Nishaanchi'

The first song from Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Nishaanchi has arrived, and it brings with it a surprise twist. Lead actor Aaishvary Thackeray is not only making his acting debut with the film but has also stepped into music as composer and lyricist for the quirky track Pigeon Kabootar.

A Double Debut: Acting and Music

Set for release on September 19, Nishaanchi is a gritty story about two brothers walking different paths, starring Aaishvary in a double role alongside Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra. While the trailer teased Kashyap’s trademark mix of drama and raw energy, the first song from the soundtrack adds another layer of intrigue.

For Aaishvary, Pigeon Kabootar is more than just a soundtrack entry, it’s the fulfillment of a long-time dream. He revealed that after wrapping the shoot, he couldn’t shake off the urge to share a tune he’d been working on. 'It was 3 AM, and I just picked up my keyboard and guitar. By morning, the whole song was ready. I sent it to Anurag sir, and his reply was just five heart emojis. That’s when I knew it had found its place in the film,' he said.

The Making of Pigeon Kabootar

Sung by Bhupesh Singh, the track mixes Hinglish lyrics with playful beats, matching the wild and unapologetic tone of Nishaanchi. Its offbeat hook line, already catching on with listeners, gives the film’s music an unusual edge. Bhupesh described recording the track as refreshing: 'The composition gave me space to experiment, and it fits so naturally into the film’s world. Working with Anurag sir always brings out something new.'

The music video, now streaming on Zee Music Co., leans into this eccentric spirit with flashy visuals, energetic choreography, and Aaishvary’s two avatars sharing screen space. It mirrors the chaos and fun promised in the film’s storyline.

Nishaanchi, written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Kashyap himself, is produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures with Flip Films. With its 15-track album already creating buzz, the film looks set to offer both a powerful narrative and a soundscape that refuses to play safe.
