Part Three

Khanak wrote down the address and looked around to see if Madvi or Khushboo Bhabhi were around. They were still busy in the kitchen. She grabbed her gold wallet and stepped outside.

Dharam was just coming in when he saw Khanak leaving. He tried calling after her but she seemed to not hear him.

"Yeh Khanak Madam kahan chalegai? Shan Baba ne bataya tha ki inhe bukar tha kal raat ko," Dharam said to himself. ( Where is Khanak Madam going. Shan had told me she had a fever last night).

Dharam then began a conflict within himself.

" Should I call Shan Baba? Maybe he came to pick her up outside? "

Dharam peered around just in time to see Khanak sit in a rikshaw.

"I better call Shan Baba. Madam shouldn't be going out alone in this state," Dharam decided.

Meanwhile Khushboo and Madvi were searching the house for Khanak.

Khusbhoo spotted Dharam.

" Dharam tum ne Khanak ko kahein dekha hai?," Khusbhoo inquired. ( Dharam have you seen Khanak anywhere?)

Dharam smiled sheephisly.

" Jee Madam. Abhi dekha ek riikshaw mein.

" Tumne usko roka kyun nahin?," Madvi and Khusbhoo screamed the same time.

" Main abhi Shaan Baba ko phone karta hoon," he said.

" Shaan humhe mar dal agaya!," Khusbhoo exclaimed.

Shantanu had just finished his important meeting. He decided to do some paperwork and then head home to be with Khanak. He was sure she would try to get into the kitchen or go do some other housework. He smiled thinking of their time in Dhluwadi when he had been trying to get the factory running again, Mangal Bhaiya had tried to get him killed. Khanak kept telling him to be careful but he kept working towards it.

In the end everything had worked out and they were back in Mumbai as a family.

His phone rang suddenly.

" Dharam abhi kyun phone kia?," Shantanu said.

"Woh kya hai ki Khanak Madam ..

" Dharam Khanak ko kuch hua kya?"

" Nahin toh, baas rikshaw mein dekha tha," Dharam replied.

" Tum ne apni Khanak Madam ko roka kyun nahin?. Main abhi aata hoon ghar pe," Shantanu declared before slamming the phone down.

Khanak arrived at the clinic. She was nervous. Maybe she should have told Shantanu.

" Nahin aaj woh bauth busy hon gaye. I will tell him later if anything important," Khanak thought to herself.

The doctor was surprised to see Khanak alone but asked her to be seated.

" Mrs. Khandlewal aap ke results aagaya hain," the doctor stated.

" Is there anything serious?," she inquired.

The doctor sat down across from her and started to explain the results.

An hour later, Khanak was on the way home. She was relieved in one way but disturbed because something could be wrong. She just had no exact answers yet. She could tell Shantanu to read the reports. She did not know all the terms used in the reports maybe he would know.

Khanak opened the front door and was startled to see Shantanu pacing around. He suddenly looked in her direction. He seemed angry and he started walking towards her.
