Shantanu was in trouble.

He was in love.

That too with Khanak, his jhaansi ki rani.

Falling in love with your best friend was one thing but proposing to her? Let's put it this way; it takes a helluva lot of work. "I mean, she basically knows everything about me, what can I do that she won't expect or worse, reject?" he dramatically stated during the man-to-man conversation he was having with his big brother.

Shaan, as his friends called him, was the son of Sunil Khandelwal, the owner of one of the biggest textiles companies in Mumbai. During one of their family trips to a remote village in Gujarat, Shaan ran into was-then-a-stranger -now best -friend Khanak. Being the clueless city richie he was, Shaan had never expected the girls in Dhulwadi to wear skinny jeans, and this girl here was wearing not only jeans but had a freakin' skateboard in her hand! Let's just say, Shantanu Khandelwal was shocked, proof being his O shaped mouth and ogling wide eyes (which Khanak had stated during one of their many phone conversations). What was then a mere bumping had turned into a never-ending friendship and now into another eternal relationship of love. Shaan had never expected that it this thing called "pyaar" would ever happen to him let alone with his best friend! Love was supposed to happen with someone different, two strangers that dive into a life of adventure, not with someone you've known practically all your life! It was just too messed up. What was weirder was that Khanak reciprocated his feelings, something that she had told her second best friend Khushboo aka Shaan's bhabhi. When had their little friendship turn into something more? well that is a question that even Shaan didn't know the answer to.

And now, almost eleven years later, he was given an ultimatum by his parents to either confess to Khanak and marry her or sit like the dummy he was and get tied to another girl through an arranged marriage. Shaan had decided that the former was the better option for him.

"Shaan, firstly, BREATHE!" When Akshay heard Shaan exhale, he continued, "Now, sit down and make a list of ways you can confess to her, it'll help I promise! I used that on your bhabhi and look at us now; we're a happy married couple" Shaan rolled his brother's suggestions, the business minded freak would never learn, he thought. "Bhaiya mere pyare, when was the last time you talked to bhabhi without using the word "sorry" in your conversation?" Smirking at his brother's now defeated face; Shaan walked back to his room to plot ways to confess to his lady love.

Upon reaching his room, Shaan sat on his bed and started thinking. "ya'know, maybe making a list isn't such a bad idea, I mean bhai hasn't been divorced yet, maybe his plan will work?" Grabbing a notepad and a pen, Shantanu started making a list of all the techniques he could think of.

- Sky writing? Nah, too expensive.

- Bake a cheese cake and write 'I love you' on it? Waayyy too cheesy (pun intended my friend).

- What about halwa? Khanak loves Halwa! Dude, are you confessing your love or trying out for Master Chef-India?

How the hell do you propose to someone? UGH.

- Flowers and a ring? Eew, too clichd.

- A banner saying I love you Khanak? l-a-m-e.

This is so freakin' hard man!

- Add in the Mumbai newspaper? Chappal se maregi beta.

- Funny water gun proposal? Shaan, you're a bimbo.

After two hours of thinking and planning, a frustrated Shaan looked up at the ceiling and dramatically yelled "Oh great god of love, why oh why have you bestowed this dreaded curse upon me?"

muuhahaha! this isn't an OS..it's a short story, which means..the rest of the parts are yet to come.😉😆 I actually haven't figured out how to make him propose yet..that's in the third(aka last) part and I still don't know if she's going to say yes or no.😆 let's see where this goes.

If you guys haven't realized yet..this isn't related to the show, only the places and characters are the same.😆

btw..this is my first time writing something longer than an OS..so you will have to excuse my mistakes and such, it's actually quite hard to keep a story going! I need to give all the FF writers a standing ovation for going through with stuff like this!😆
