The question above didn't say much, so let me explain!

Anybody who's read the original Valmiki knows that there is the simple case of Rama exiling Sita to Valmiki's ashram, Sita having her kids and Shatrughan being present at their naming, Shatrughan killing Lavanasura, Rama holding his Ashwamedha yagna, K-L musically reciting the Ramayan in court, Sita taking her oath and so on.

Then there are those other stories that vary in detail, but essentially have K-L capturing the Ashwamedha horse and battling Rama's army. The accounts that have this generally don't have them singing the Ramayan.

However, this Ananda Sagar Ramayan has stories none of us ever read anywhere, like Karkati's alliance with Lavanasura, Sita volunteering exile, all 4 brothers having twins, Sita treating her babies rugged in the beginning, the kids handling snakes, poking arrows into rakshasha noses, having rakshashas scratch themselves with poison ivy, and so on.

In the meantime, none of the stories we are familiar with so far have surfaced, which then has one wondering where this story is headed, and how far. Given all that, my question above:

Are you finding all this boring?

All 4 brothers having twins is from Ananda Ramayan.

From my part, any version of the epics or legends that is provided is interesting on its own, although I don't take seriously any version of the Ramayan that has everybody knowing throughtout that Rama is Vishnu, or that has the sort of distortions we are seeing. I'm still watching this the same way I'd stop to see a car wreck. But I am curious re: whether people are finding it boring, since this story seems to be meandering with no goal in sight.

I think this is why many people are finding it boring. U have hit the nail on the head. I don't have a problem if the Uttarkand is taken from different versions but I do want to see an end in sight. The kand is wandering without a goal in sight and that is the best comment made by u Chandra.

Even if they took the story from other versions, this is how they should have done it.

1. Luv-Kush growing up in the ashram and their stories, Lavanasur giving trouble to the rishis and they complaining to Ramji, and
Ramji sending Shatrughan to fight Lavanasur and building Madhupur. This should be shown together (the 2 stories should be explored side-by-side in every episode).

2. After the battle with Lavanasur, Ramji getting ready for the Asvamedha yagna

The exploits of Luv-Kush should be paired with the story of Lavanasur and his death. This would make the episodes more interesting and it will make people want to watch it. I think the Sagars r having trouble putting it altogether in Uttarkand and this has caused the serial to drag. The fault is the Sagars' and not the actors. All the actors are doing a wonderful job and we really appreciate the 200% they are putting into the acting.

Well I think i take that back...not a priority...but kind of like an excitement to watch wut the Sagar's were gonna show...just cuz everyday we knew to expect something different...I thought u stopped watching it too di!!!!!!! I'm just really not into it as i used to be....once upon a time!!! Oh well!!!! Updates are just as good!!!

@ Khalrika di: If Ananda Ramayan has this, its Ok but its somewhat wierd, when the serial shows that all the (twin) kids are born on Ram-Navami. A big blooper here! particulary when the birth tithi of K-L is specifically mentioned.
When we saw Ram-Navami episode, only K-L were born on that day and when K-L were named on Chathi 'sixth' day from their birth, we see simultaneously all brothers blessed with two kids n naming ceremony taking place ,that means all six cousins of K-L were born on Ram-Navami! but on that day (in epi) all the people including U-M-S were hale n hearty busy singing Vishnu-aarti... so when did they give birth exactly?? 🤔
Defying logic, isn't it and being (over) dramatic!! boy,oh boy!! even Mahakavi Bhaasa and Kalidas will be put to shame . 😳They too dramatised Ramayana heavily in their dramas but didn't defy logic ...

I also have to agree with Lalitha about one comment she made in one of her posts. All of us grow up with Ramayan stories and we have some things embedded in our heads about the Ramayan (despite other versions). Therefore, we expect to see only those stories shown. Instead of Luv-Kush going to whatever lok, I would have preferred to see them getting shiksha from Maharishi Valmiki just like Ramji and his brothers got from Maharishi Vasisht when they went to gurukul.

I agree with this point of view Lalitha. The Sagars' seem to have lost their purpose with Uttarkand.

Sagars, the purpose of the Uttarkand is to show Luv-Kush growing up, and the Asvamedha yagna, and Ramji going back to Vaikunt as Vishnuji. So, don't drag the Luv-Kush growing up part. I hope they r listening. After the Luv-Kush journey to Kuber lok they should start showing Lavanasur and right after that the Asvamedha yagna. Otherwise they will lose viewers.

I agree with u. I think the Sagars were trying to please their fans with this Ram-Navami inventions and it kinds of backfired on them. 🤣

I am just saying I don't have a problem with different versions as long as they show Uttarkand with a purpose/finale at the end. When they r showing the Luv-Kush episodes I get the feeling they r rambling. The purpose of Valmiki bringing them up is to reconcile them with their father in the end which is why he teaches them the Ram katha and takes them to the yagna. This purpose of Valmiki is not shown and the show seems to ramble without an end in sight. I agree with Chandra on this one.

Khalrika

Thanks for weighing in on all this.

Also, do the Vikat stories, as well as todays story about our budding vets K-L appear in any of your Ramayan? Adhbhuta Ramayan?

Also, you missed the joke we had the other day when we wondered whether Ananda Sagar had any hand in writing the Ananda Ramayan😆

UMS day planner on Rama Navami

  • Get up
  • Visit temple & sing Vishnu-aarti
  • Stay w/ Rajmatas until Kaushalya leaves to give Rama the 2 flowers
  • Go home
  • Give birth😆

Wonder whether LBS were sent home early that day😆😆😆

Oh, and Kaushalya was wondering what extra special thing is going to happen that day, just as the 3 remaining bahus give birth. Wouldn't that have given her a hint?
