Your guess is as good as mine, but it would boil down to the question of whether Sita wanted Rama more than she didn't want to be queen of Ayodhya. I tend to think that if the prajas, for whatever reason, had raised no more questions (say they believed the sung version of Valmiki from her kids, or say the Bhavabhuti version is right and they saw her relieve Rama) and Rama had invited her back, she'd have accepted it, as it would have given her back her Rama. I don't believe she liked leaving for Rasootal, but her choices were pretty much forced on her.
Definitely, Sita would have wanted to be Ram's wife more than being the queen of Ayodhya. But then, could she or Ram be sure that there would be no more such gossips? If not from Ayodhya, they could arise elsewhere, after all Ram was the king of almost the whole of Aryavratta, and his tale would be known to people. There are chances there are such dhobis in every village, infact each street. If not this one, the other one would talk.....
And there was no way Ram could move away from the limelight, meaning if Sita was with him, limelight also falls on her. And within themselves, they would always have been conscious of whats going on about them, so life would not have been the same. So I still feel Sita may have taken the same decision.
If she had wanted Ram, I believe she would have gone thro a 2nd agnipariksha easily, bcoz she knew her power and was capable of taking any number of parikshas, right?
