PART - 4 : MAKING NEW FRIENDS

Yudi (stares at his coffee while saying) : Tu jaise samajh rahaa hai, waise kuch nahi hai.
Pramod : Toh phir kya hai majira, bataa mujhe.
The prince first hesitates and then decides to share with Pramod.
Yudi : Actually mei jab gaanv gayaa tha, toh meine wahaan ek ladki ki awaaz suni. Sach kehta hun Pramod, meine aaj tak utni sureeli awaaz nahi suni!!!! Lekin woh kaun hai, yeh pataa lagaane ke liye mere paas samay nahi rahaa aur mei waapas aa gayaa. Lekin woh aawaaz abhi bhi mere kaanon mei goonj rahi hai.
Pramod : Kahin tu usse dil toh nahi de baitha?
Yudi hesitates for a split second but quickly says
Yudi : What rubbish! Aisa kuch nahi hai!!
Pramod : Aur aisa hona bhi nahi chahiye! For all you know Yudi, kya pataa woh ladki already shaadi-shuda ho, ya do bacchon ki maa ho!!
Yudi tries to remember what he had seen of rani and thinks that she could not have been married but says
Yudi : Aisi koi baat nahi hai. Mei toh uske baare mei apne daadi maa ke connection mei soch rahaa tha!
Pramod : Dadimaa?
Yudi (hesitates again for a few seconds) : Haan. Kuch mahinon mei Rajmaata ki 70th birthday hai. Uss din mei unhe ek anokhi gift denaa chahta hun!!
Pramod : Kaisa gift?
Yudi : Tum toh jaante ho na ke, Rajmaata ke chote bhai, Sachin Upadhyay the.
Pramod : Haan, woh famous music director, jinka do mahine pehle svargavaas hua tha??
Yudi (shaking his head in affirmative) : Rajmaata ko apne chote bhai se bahut lagaav tha. Unki akaal mrithyu ne Rajmaata ko bahut dukhi kiyaa hai. Unke chale jaane ke baad, Rajmaata bahut akeli ho gayi hai. Toh meine socha mei Sachin ji ke gaanon ke anmol khazaane se, 30 geet chunkar, unhe ek singer se record karvaunga aur Rajmaata ko present karunga.
Pramod : WOW!!! What an excellent idea!!! 👏 👏
Yudi : Thanks! Aur jis awaaz ko maine gaanv mei suna, woh mujhe itnaa pasand aa gayaa, ke mei usi awaaz se yeh gaane record karvana chah rahaa tha! Uss awaaz mei commercialism nahi tha Pramod, It was beautiful, honest and soul-touching! 👍🏼
Pramod : Mere khyaal se tumhe pehle yahaan thode singers ko test kar lena chahiye. Agar unmei se koi pasand nahi aaya toh phir uss awaaz ke baare mei pataa lagaane ki koshish karna chahiye.
Yudi shakes his head in affirmative.
Yudi looks at his watch and notices that it is already 4.00 PM
Yudi : Arre yaar, bahut der ho gayi hai. Chal ab mei nikalta hun. Kal milte hai.
Pramod agrees. They both shake hands and go their separate ways.

A week will pass. Rani will try to get accustomed to the routine. She does not get a single opportunity to convey to Pradhan about her mom's intention in sending her to the city to continue her education. Pradhan will be a very busy man and this delay will frustrate Rani.
One day after lunch Rani will talk to Laksmi.
Rani : Maasi, mujhe Pradhan ji se baat karni hai. Lekin mei jab bhi unke daftar mei jaati hun, woh wahaan nahi rehte. Mei unse aur kahaan mil sakti hun?
Lakshmi : Ab toh tumhe pandrah din intezaar karna padega. Pradhan ji toh aaj hi Raja saahab aur Rani sahiba ke saath videsh gaye hai. Sab do hafton ke baad lautenge.
Rani (shocked) : KYA?? Do hafte?? 😔
Lakshmi (surprised at Rani's frustration) : Arre, itni pareshan kyun ho? Koi zaroori baat karni thi kya? Mujhse kaho. Kya aapatii hai tumhe?
Rani starts to cry. 😭
Lakshmi (alarmed) : Arre Rani betaa, ro kyun rahi hai? Kya baat hai, bataa mujhe!
Rani : Maasi........Maasi, mei gaanv se, naukraani banane nahi aayi thi!!
Lakshmi (looking puzzled) : Kya matlab?
Rani : Mei toh aage ki padhai karne ke liye aayi thi. Meri amma ne mujhe Rani Sahibaa ke sath issliye sheher bheja ke mei aur padh saku. Lekin yahaan toh Pradhan ji ne mujhe naukraani banaa diyaa!!
Lakshmi (very surprised) : Tum padhi-likhi ho, Raani???
Rani : Haan maasi. Meine abhi barahavi kakshaa paas kiyaa hai. Mei apne pathshala mei hi nahi, pure zille mei first aayi hun! Mei hamesha aage padhna chahti thi. Mere pitaaji ka bhi yahi sapna tha, ke mei padh-likhkar, amma ka sahaara banoo. Lekin mei toh yahaan...... 😭
Lakshmi walks over to Rani and puts her arm around Rani and wipes her tears.
Lakshmi : Ro mat Rani, lagtaa hai kahin koi galati hui hai. Pradhan ji ko koi galat-fehmi hui hogi!! Ve dikhte kathor hai, lekin mann ke bahut acche hai. Unhe kuch dhokha hua hoga.
Rani looks at her hopefully.
Lakshmi : Tu chinta mat kar. Pradhan ji ke waapas aate hi mei khudh unse baat karungi. Agar tum sheher padhai ke liye aayi ho, toh tum avashya padhogi. Bas ek baar mujhe Pradhan ji se baat kar lene de.
Rani wipes her tears and smiles at Lakshmi gratefully.
Lakshmi : Lekin tab tak, Rani maa ki sewa mann lagaage karnaa. Unhe kisi bhi kaaran se asantrupth (dissatisfy) mat karnaa. Theek hai?
Rani : Ji, maasi!!
Lakshmi : Accha ab jaa, samay ho gayaa hai. Rani maa tumhaari prateeksha kar rahi hogi.
Rani leaves. She is much much relieved and hopeful that finally the misunderstanding will be cleared!!!

Another week will pass. Rani will bond excellently with Rani maa and Rani maa will start depending on Rani for many things. She will really start to like Rani. And Rani's admiration and respect for the old Queen will increase day by day. But still there will not be a day when she will not cry herself to sleep.

In the village, her mom, daadi and munna will be in a similar situation. They will miss her everyday, everywhere! Meanwhile Chacha, chachi and Munshiji will be enjoying the success of their evil plan.
Chachi : Aji, mei kehti hun, ab der kis baat ki? Rani toh hat gayi hai raaste se. Ab apne bhauji se dastakhat karvaa leejiye na kaagaj peh!
Chacha : Arre bhaagwaan, mei bhi toh yahi chahta hun. Lekin yeh munshiji hai ke mujhe rok rahe hai.
Chachi : Kaahe Munshiji, aap kaahe raaste ki adchan ban rahe ho?? 😡
Munshi : Arre aap samjha keejiye, Chandrakala bhauji!! Rani ko gaye abhi sirf pandrah din hue hai. Itne hi mei kaagaz leke jaaoge bhauji ke paas, toh woh bhaanp jaayegi! Agar woh nahi toh, Kajri mausi toh jaroor bhaanp jaayegi. Aur phir saare khel peh paani phir jaayega!! Tanik sabr rakhiye. Aur thode dinon ke baad jaayenge! 🤓
Chacha and chachi don't like it, but agree with Munshiji.

Soon the 2 weeks of Pradahan's trip will be up! The day the King and Queen are to return from their trip, its a sunday and Rani will come to the servant quarters during her afternoon break. She notices that Lakshmi maasi is all worked up. Rani accosts her and asks her
Rani : Lakshmi maasi, kya hua? Aap itni ghusse mei kyun hai?
Lakshmi (very irritated) : Dekho na, Rani. 😡 Yeh chintu abhi tak khaane ke liye nahi aaya. Dopeher ke Ek bajne ko aaye hai! Pataa nahi kahaan khel rahaa hai. Bahut sataata hai yeh ladhka mujhe! Abhi mujhe baahar jaana hai. Yuvraani ji bajaar jaana chahti hai aur mujhe bhi unke saath jaana hai. Mei gayi toh iss ladhke ko khaana kaun khilaayega? 😡
Rani : Mei hun na, maasi. Mei khila doongi. Aap jaiye. 😊
Lakshmi : Lekin tumhe bhi toh phir se Rani maa ke paas jaana hoga na?
Rani : Ji nahi. Rani maa ne aaj mujhe shaam tak chuthi dedi hai. Mei chintu ko khaana khila doongi aur uske saath khelungi bhi. Aap chinta mat keejiye aur Yuvrani ji ke saath chali jaiye.
Lakshmi (looking a bit relieved) : Sach Rani, teraa bahut sahaara hai. Yeh dekh, yahaan uska khaana rakha hai. Usse khila dena. Lekin pehle tujhe usse dhoondhna hoga. Pataa nahi kaun se pedh pe chadhkar baitha hai!!!
Rani : Mei dhoondh loongi maasi, aap jaiye.
Lakshmi thanks her and leaves. Rani goes in search of chintu. And as prophesised by his mother, he will be atop a guava tree in a corner of the garden!! Rani reaches the tree and says

Rani : Chintu, Tu upar kya kar rahaa hai? Neeche aa ja!!
Chintu : Rani didi, mei amrud (guavas) todh rahaa hun. Ek minute tehro.
Rani : Nahi Chintu, neeche aa jao. Kahin tum phisal gaye toh?
Chintu : Lekin didi, amrud....
Rani : Tum neeche aa jao, mei tumhe amrud todh kar doongi.
Chintu hesitates, he does not want to come down.
Rani (says again) : Chintu, acche bacche apni didi ki baat maante hai. Neeche aa jao varnaa tumhaari meri katti!
Chintu (shouts) : Nahi did, katti mat karo. Mei aata hun!
Rani : Theek hai, lekin dheere se aana. Dekhbaal kar pair rakho.
Rani walks under him and is looking up tensed while Chintu is climbing down. Chintu starts to climb down. Using small branches with his hands and feet he slowly climbs down. Suddenly one of the small branches that he has his foot on, gives way and breaks!!!! Chintu slips! 😲 😲
"MUNNA!!!!!!!!" screams Rani and both her hands go up automatically as if she is ready to hold him when he falls!!! But just then a hand extends from a different branch and holds Chintu from falling!!!!! Rani had never noticed that there was another person on the tree, hidden from her view. She closes her eyes with relief! Slowly both the people get down and Rani rushes to Chintu, stoops and kisses his forehead and hugs him tight!!! 🤗
Rani : Tum theek toh ho, munna??? Tumhe lagi toh nahi???
Chintu : Mei theek hun Rani didi.
Rani : Haath dikhao, kahin tumhe chot toh nahi aayi??
Rani checks his arms, and he has a small scratch on his right arm.
Rani : Dekha?? Kahaa tha na maine ke dheere uttarna. Tu meri baat kabhi nahi sunta, munna!!
Chintu : Didi, mei munna nahi chintu hun!
Rani blinks suddenly realizing that she was calling Chintu, munna!
Rani : Haan, haan, mei jaanti hun tu Chintu hai. Ab chal iss kharoch par dawai lagaate hai.
And she turns to look at who has saved Chintu. Its a girl in capris and a T-shirt and her short hair tied up in a ponytail!! Namrata stares back at her.
Rani : Bahut bahut dhanyavaad. Aapne aaj Chintu ko girne se bachaaya! Lekin aap pedh par kya kar rahi thi?
Suddenly Chintu runs and stands next to Namrata and holding her hand says
Chintu : Mei aur Nammu didi, donon milke amrud todh rahe the!
Rani : Kya??? 😲
Namrata : Arre tum toh aise hi darr rai thi. Mere hothe hue, chintu ko kuch nahi ho sakta!
And she lifts chintu up and gives him a kiss.
Rani : Lekin agar aaj aap wahaan nahi hoti, toh chintu kaa kya hotaa?
Namrata : Chintu mere bagaair kabhi pedh nahi chadhta. Aur woh amrud dekh rahi ho? Itne meethe meethe amrud, koi todhe binaa reh sakta hai kya?
Rani : Lekin unhe todh ne ke liye pedh chadhne ki aavashyakta nahi.
Namrata (surprised) : Phir kaise todhenge?
Rani : Mei dikhati hun!
Rani looks around for a few small rocks. She collects a few and comes back to the tree and taking a perfect aim and hits at a fruit. The fruit comes crashing to the ground!! Namrata is impressed!!!! And so is Chintu. He slides down from Namrata and starts jumping!
Chintu (excitedly) : Didi, aur tohdo, aur tohdo! 👏 👏
Rani smiles and brings a few more fruits down. Chintu runs to collect them.
Namrata : Wow!!! Kya nishaana hai tumhaara? Kahaan seekha tumne?
Rani : Gaanv mei, mei aur mera bhai aise he phal todhte the!
Namrata (excited) : Mujhe sikhaogi??
Rani : Haan! 😊
And she teaches Namrata to do it. After a few rounds, Namrata also manages to bring a fruit down! Namrata screams excitedly and jumps up.
Then they collect all the fruits and troop into the dining area. While Chintu and Namrata go to the bathroom to clean Chintu's wound, Rani goes into the kitchen and seeking the help of one of the kitchen staff quickly gets some turmeric and sandalwood powder. She mixes them up with some water and makes a paste. Namrata and Chintu come to her and she applies that paste on chintu's hand.
Rani : Bas, subah hote hi tumhaara haath theek ho jaayega. Accha ab chalo khaana khaalo, bahut der ho gayi hai!
Rani brings food for Chintu who starts to eat it.
Namrata : Tum wahi ladki ho na jise Rani maa ke dekhbaal ke liye gaanv se laaya gayaa hai?
Rani : Haan. Aur Aap? Aap yahin mehel mei rehti hai kya?
Namrata : Haan.
Chintu (interrupting Namrata) : Rani didi, aap nammu didi ko nahi jaanti? Yeh choti yuvraani hai.
Rani jumps up shocked! 😲 😲 😲 She is flustered and quickly folds her hand and says
Rani : Pranaam!!! Mujhe kshama keejiye! Mujhe nahi pataa tha...
Namrata grabs her hand and makes her sit.
Namrata : Please!!!!! Mujhe pranaam vranaam mat karna. Mujhe yeh sab bilkul nahi pasand! Yeh sab Maharaaj aur Maharaani ke saamne karna, mere saamne nahi. Mujhe apni saheli samjho!
Rani : Saheli???
Namrata : Haan, jaise chintu ke liye mei didi hun, waise tumhaari saheli!
Rani : Nahi, Nahi!! Yeh kaise ho sakta hai?? Agar kisine dekh liya toh....
Namrata : Arre, kisiko maalum padhne ki zaroorat nahi. Agar koi hamaare paas ho toh mujhe Yuvraani kehna, nahi toh Nammu kehna. Theek hai?
Rani does not agree. Namrata tries to convince her a lot but Rani insists that she will call Namrata, Choti Yuvraani ji. Finally Namrata gives up and says
Namrata : Theek hai. Jaisi tumhaari marzi. Lekin hum dost toh hai na?
Rani shakes her head in affirmative. Namrata and Rani warm up to each other very quickly. Rani tells Namrata about her village life, where she used to roam the whole village in a care-free manner, pluck fruits whenever she wanted, helped others in working the fields, her fetching of water from the village pond, herding cows and goats to help her neighbours, planting seeds, growing plants, ploughing their land and driving a bail-gaadi (bullock-cart) etc. Namrata is fascinated. 😍 😍She is amazed at how much freedom and adventure was present in Rani's life versus her own where she was always subject to restricitons because of her princess status! They talk while Chintu is eating and when Chintu finishes up, Namrata gets up to leave when Chintu stops her saying
Chintu : Nammu didi, aapne toh promise kiya the mujhe mere homework mei madad karogi?
Namrata (feeling sorry) : Arre, mei toh bool hi gayi thi chintu!! Lekin abhi toh mujhe jaana hai! Kya kare??
She has a frown on her face thinking what is to be done when Rani says
Rani : Koi baat nahi, mei karvaa doongi tumhaara homework, Chintu.
Namrata (looking surprised) : Tum padhi-likhi ho?
Rani : Ji. Meine yehi saal, high-school paas kiyaa hai.
Namrata : Accha! That's great! Toh phir tum kardogi na, Chintu ki madad?
Rani smiles and shakes her head in the affirmative. Namrata bids them goodbye and leaves promising to meet them the next day.

Namrata is walking towards the palace thinking about Rani. She is very surprised to note that Rani can read and write. She thinks, "Lekin, maa toh koi bhi padhi-likhi naukraani rakhti hi nahi. Phir, Rani ko kaise gaanv se lekar aayi, yeh jaante hue ki Rani padhi-likhi hai?" She shrugs her shoulders and then thinks "Kal jab maa waapas aayegi, unse poochungi".

Next part.....Rani sees Prince for the first time and falls for him BIG TIME 😳
