Part 4

Niharika was sitting in her room that afternoon, when all of a sudden she heard a knock on the door. Surprised, she walked to the door. She wondered to herself, who it could be. CR,Rudra,Bhavy&RB had gone to visit another of their many mehels, Rajaji was busy that day with business work, Munna and Rani had gone…leaving only Yudi and Saksh free. Delighted at the thought of having either one of them visit her, Nikki ran to the door and opened it. To her shock and amazement, she opened the door to reveal not Yudi or Saksh, but Raja Saheb himself.

"Pitaji….aap? Aaye….."

Nikki, still shocked, walked into her room again and sat down on one of her chairs. Raja Saheb closed the doors behind him and sat on a chair beside her…

"Rajkumari Niharika….Hume aap se kuch baatein karni thi………dekhiye….darasal.. Hum yahaa aapse maafi mangne aaye the…."

"Maafi? Aap kya keh rahe hain pitaji….aap ko maafi ma…."

"Hume kehne dijiye…. Hume maafi mangni chahiye….aap ki saath bahut nainsaafi kiye the humne……aap ko zindagi jeene nahin diya. Beti, hume aaj ehsaas hua… ke hum ne jo kuch bhi kiya… sahi nahi kiya…..aap ki jeevan mein khushiya hum phir se nahi deh paye…."

"Pitaji humne kahaa tha na…aapko maafi mangne ki koi zaroorat hai….phir bhi…agar aap boora nahi maaningay tho hum kuch kahe? "

" Kahiye …."

"Pitaji…maanti hoon ke aap hume khushi deh nahi sakthe…parampura ki vajah se….lekin aap apne bete ko khushiya deh sakthe hain na…?"

"niharika! Yeh tum kya keh rahe ho…."

"pitaji…aap jaante hain ke Yudi Rani se bahut pyaar karte hain… aur woh ek kunvar hai.. agar who chahe, tho woh kar sakthe hain.."

"Niharika…. Aise baatein karma aap ko shobha nahin deta….."

"Kshaama kijiye pitaji… par aap soch lijiye ga….."

"Humein bahut kuch kaam hai Niharika… hum aapko nashte ke table par milte hain.."

"Lekin pitaji… aap ne kahaa humein sab ke baad alag khana khani chahiye.."

"Aaj hum aap se keh rahe hain ke aap humare saath khayenge….aap ne bahut kuch se liya apni zindagi mein…ab aur nahi…..hum chalte hain…"

Meanwhile, yudi was sitting in his room, looking out into the distance, thinking. A knock at the door startled him… He turned to see Saksham…

"Ji saksham..."

"Darasal….kunwarji…sab aap ka intazaar kar rahe hain…nashte ki table par…."

"Theek hai….chalein?"

Raja sahib had just reached the table, when Bhanu came, wheeling in a much better BR to come and sit at the table today. She was followed by Niharika, then Yudi and Saksh. Saksh excused himelf, saying he had to meet Dinu kaka,and Bhanu, after serving the food, disappeared to go and console Kali, who had been wearing plain white clothes and had been distraught since the talk of Yura's sagai a week ago….

For the first time in many years, the original royal family sat down to breakfast together, that is just the RS, BR, and their two children…..

BR smiled at the sight, relieved that although she wasn't able to fully talk with everyone, she could still spend time with them, without her evil younger sister and her devil children…..

RS: "BR…aap jaanti hain….hum kuch dino se dekh raha hoon ke khana itna swaadisht nahin hai…humara matlab hai ke…khana theek hai.. lekin humein is se zyada achcha khana khane ki aadat hogayi…"

BR nodded knowingly. Niharika, looked at her dad, shocked.

Nik: "Is se zyada achcha pitaji?"

RS: "Ji Niharika.. woh kya hai .. hum ne aap ko aisa khana khane se manaa kar diya.is liye yeh khana aap ko bahut achcha lag raha hain… lekin job aap woh khana khayengi…aap bhi maanengi humare baaton ko…"

Yudi, realizing the opportunity, decided to speak.

Yu:"Woh…Rani….."

RS: "Kunwar…hum aap ke behen aur badi rani se bath kar rahe hain.. uain aap ki koi bath nahin sunna chahte hain…" He turned back to Nik "Hum kya keh rahe the?…..haan…aaj yeh khana itni swaadisht nahi hai jaise kuch dino pehle tha… woh khana…jo bilkul humari bahu(RB) ke haath ka khana jaisa tha.."

Yu: "Aap ke bahu ka haath ka khana hi tha…"

RS looked at Yudi, totally puzzled. "Kya? RB kaam kar rahi thi? Khana bana rahi thi?"

Yu: RB nahin…Rani…Rani roz hum sab ke liye khana banaati thi…aur us din jab RB ko humare liye khana banana chaiyye…rasam ke mutabik…Rani ne khana banaiyya…kyunki RB ko khana banana nahin aata…."

Yudi, not feeling hungry at the thought of RB taking credit for Rani's good qualities, got up from the table.

"Hum chalte hain….Aaj humein bahut kaam hai…aur is ki tiyari karni hai.. aisa shubh kaamon mein deri nahi hona chaiyye…"

A short while later, Yudi was packed and ready to go. He walked down the staircase…looking for saksham…eventually he found him in the front courtyard… Nikki had fallen down badly, and thorns from a poisonous plant had cut her foot badly……….

Saks "Humein dawai aur doctor ki zarurat hai.."

King " Is ki koi zarurat nahin hai Saksham…is ke liye ek simple si lep ki zarurat hai…kya aap kisi mehel ki naukar ko jaanthe ho jise lep banana aatha hai''

Yu : "Main jaantha hoon… is naukrani ne hamari aur kunwar rudr ki jaan kahi baar bachaliya…..humari jaan ek lep ke saath bachaliya…oonhe lep banane aur lagane aur boothiyon ka bahut jaankari hain….".

"Kaun hain woh ? Jaldi bataiyye kunwar…varnaa humein ek doctor ka madat lehna padega...."

"Ek minute pitaji….." Yudi took his phone from his pocket and dialled a number… "Dcotor…humare behen ke pao ko chot lag gayi hai..aap jald se jald aaye…"

He hung up the phone..smirking slightly. Nikki, though in pain, managed a weak smile as she knew EXACTLY what was coming…

RS: "Aap ne ye kyun kiya kunwar?"

Yudi: "Kyunki..us naukrani lep bana nahin sakthi..woh abhi is mehel mein nahi hain…."

Rs: "To woh aur kahaan hogi????!?!?!?!?!"

Yudi: " Woh kya hai na…. Unki dadiji ka janam din tha…tho humne RANI ko vapas gaon jaane ke liye kahaa tha…humne aap ko bathaye the na ? Hum abhi vaha jane wale hain…Chaliye Saksham..hume bahut der ho rahi hain…"

And with one knowing smile at a shocked Raja, Yudi walked towards the car…noticing how his father seemed less angry..and more thoughtful….Looking again at his fathers stern face, he realized he was probably wrong….his father wouldn't agree so easily.

Standing in the courtyard beside Nikki with his hands in his pockets, Raja Sahab sighed at the revelations of today and yesterday, how Rani looked after BR so well, saved his sons' lives, saved RB from being found out…cooking for her and taking no credit, tried to save his most loyal servants. He sighed deeply again…the burden of these truths constricting his breaths….weighing down on his conscious. And somewhere in the back of his mind, RS was sure he felt some sort of regret, a feeling of being impressed by Rani. He wondered to himself, something he would never dare to say aloud.

That day, the head of the Royal Shishodiya Vansh wondered why his Princess Bahu…could be more like Rani…. Couldn't possess the same sort of sanskaar and good qualities that Rani did…..that day , Raja Surya Singh Rathore asked himself…why a member of his ROYAL family couldn't be more like a naukrani?!?!?!"
