Vrisha is Vrishasen's son. He ruled for a short time, ghatothkach's son meghavarna took revenge for his father by killing him, Anga went into their hands after that.

Pandavas protection for Karna's family died with them.

Anga rulers after that claimed themselves as Bhima descendents. Not just Anga but Vanga Pundra Suhma entire east went to Bhima descendents. It seems during Rajasuya he married princesses and left children all over east all the way till Kasi. Bhima also married Jarasandh sister so even Magadha had Bhima child.

This is as per regional Puranas.

So Vrisha was the last ruler of this dynasty after which Pandavas descendants took over the land.

In fact I know many Muslims of Assam claiming their ancestory from Bheem/Ghatochkach. Now this makes more se. Thankyou so much

Off topic it seems funny that Vrishsen (sen is generally a second name) named his son Vrishsa. He seems to be pioneer of European tradition of naming children after the name of fathers

Obviously there would have been daughters through Niyoga.. They will also be treated as daughter of the wedded husband.

I had read a very cheap reason for it. Not sure if it's a hearsay or actually some Purana.

So according to this Tara the wife of Brihaspati ji fell in love with Chandra dev and started having extra marital affair with him(Chandra dev bhi na, Rohini ko chhod k khud ki baaki 26 wives k liye time nhi tha aur extra marital affair kar rahe the, dev pehle original target to poora karo fir extra karna πŸ˜†)

Anyhow so Tara conceived as a result of this relationship. When Brihaspati ji got to know about this, he understood that the child isn't his, so he got angry and Tara to let him know who the father was. Tara didn't reply so Brihaspati ji got angry and cursed the father of that child. However to his surprise the curse actually hit Brihaspati ji himself. He couldn't understand what happened when an Akashwani happened stating that the children any female bears after her marriage is always of the husband since irrespective of who sows the seeds in a land, the tree and it's fruits always belong to the owner of land.

I am not sure about the authenticity of this story because the child born to Tara was Budh who married Manu's daughter Ila/Ida and their descendants were called Chandravanshi

Coming to Shanta, I think maybe didn't have any other children (son) for long, and by the time of Putrasukti Yagya, Dashrath would have become very old and Vashitha would have adviced him to not to actually have his own child as he might be weak, so he instead could have asked his younger wives to perform Niyog

I think Tara was Chandra's Gurupatni. So possibly he was not married till then.πŸ€ͺ

It's kind of irrelevant I understand. Yet just a little history of Rama in Radha Krishna forum.

What to do this show is nonsense and there is nothing interesting to write about in it

So Raghu's son was Aja who had an amazing love story with Apsara Indumathi.

Indumathi and Aja fell in love and wanted to get married. Indra told Indumathi that you are an Apsara. You can spend time with a mortal man and bear his child but you cannot stay with him forever as you are immortal, you will always be this young beautiful girl and he will be a mortal affected by age eventually and will die so have your fling and come back before he gets old. Give him a son if he wants one, then you can come back and have a new love affair

But Indumathi decides she will become a mortal and only way for that to happen is to get cursed. She promptly gets to the task and gets cursed by one of the Rishis to be a mortal and know the pain of death.

She and Aja then get married live happily for a while and then have a son Dasrath. When Dasrath is 5 years old, Indu's curse gets her killed in an accident. She has to return back as Apsara to swarga.

Aja is distraught. He hands over Dasrath and his kingdom to Vashishtha and takes Sanyas and does Tapasya and eventually gets to go to swarga to be with Indumathi forever.

But at Ayodhya this causes a problem

Like the 5 tribes of Panchalas the suryavanshi were 3 tribes ruling together and living in extended joint family set up divided into three kingdoms Uttara Kosala capital at Ayodhya. Dakshina Kosala capital at Sravasti and Kasi capital at Kasi city

So after Aja abdicated his kingdom Uttara Kosala goes into the hand of his cousin.

When Dasrath grows up he married his two cousins daughter of king of Dakshina Kosala (Kousalya) and daughter of king of Kasi (Sumitra / Kasya)

However he doesnt have a son. Kousalya becomes mother of Shanta in some versions in many specially Valmiki Ramayana Shanta is biological daughter of Romapada's not adopted

He then marries Kaikeyi daughter of king Ashwapati of Kekaya at the time of war with Rakshasa, she becomes his charioteer and saves his life and general perception is she would be giving him the son who would rule Ayodhya

When that doesn't happen Rishyashringa is called to officiate Putrakameshti. It could have been a straight forward adoption of Rishyashringa and Shanta's sons or Niyoga.

Eventually 4 sons are born. The four sons have their own two sons each.

Rama's son Luva gets Ayodhya and Kusha gets Dakshina Kosala and establishes a new city Kushasthali there as his capital

Lakshman had two sons Angad and Chandra ketu they ruled over Karupada and Chandrakanta (Malwa in MP) basically Dandakaranya the place where they were exiled. This was Khara and Dushan's teritory

Bharat had two sons Pushkala (he established the city of Pushkalavati) and Taksha (he established Takshila) in the Kekaya kingdom that Bharat took over from uncle

Shatrughana's sons were Shatrughati and Subahu. His son Shatrughati ruled over Mathura after him while second son Subahu rules over a territory near modern day Vidhisha, both territories of Ravana's sister Kumbhinasi family

Is there any other instance of Niyoga in Ramayana?

^^ so what about the claim that Lahore (Lavapuri) was established by love and Kaushur by Kush?

I had always doubted this claim but now it's more than clear because these 8 cousins definitely didn't rule the areas of Punjab? Mahabharat doesn't mention any Lavapuri in Trigartha either

What about Mithila? Did Janak have any sons? It's very confusing to get their info since all kings there renamed themselves as Janaka followed by their real name. Just like today Thailand kings name themselves Rama once they ascend the throne

I am sure we are getting some warning in a couple of days. We discuss everything but Radha Krishna here

So just to bring i read that Radha isn't an introduction of 12th century but was mentioned in a text called Gaha Sattasai of 3rd century. She isn't divine there though

Oh sorry but one more Niyoga was Dilip son Bhagairath

Dilipa died childless so both his wives slept together and had the child Bhagirath

Most likely it was Rishi aurva in whose hermitage Dilipa lived

Quick question though. Does anyone know what happened to Urmila, Mandavi and Shrutkirti after Sita got reunited with Goddess Earth? Did they commit sati after their respective husbands took jal samadhi, or they died of natural causes later?
