CHAPTER-12 Asad gently put Zoya on the passenger seat of the car which he had rented to use during his stay, outside the hospital and jogged to the driver's seat. As he fastened up his seat-belt, he motioned Zoya to do the same as she was simply sitting there with her arms crossed on her chest, angry but cute frown and pout gracing her face. She complied to his request with an annoyed huff and Asad chuckled at her grumpy-child like posture.
-" Where are we going?" Zoya asked, the irritation palpable in her voice.
-" Home." Asad replied coolly and just that simple word managed to make her heart skip a treacherous beat and confirmed her that any more protest or whining would be futile. So she just looked outside the open window of the car, losing her eyes in the passing sights and her thoughts in the memories of lost time, as the engine came to life and the car sped through the road.
Dilooki mohabbat ko bandhe kyu haaayre

Daariee The soothing breeze gently played with her silky traces, making them dance in rhythm but those lovely caresses of mother nature did nothing to calm her inner turmoil. She felt helpless like never before. She was torn between her wish to be with her love and the fears that the ghosts of her past left with her. All she wanted was to hug him and cry till there is no more tear left but her love restrained her from being selfish enough to involve in her messed up life. Though apparently there was merely few centimeters distance between them, the distance between their lives were in miles. But even then also their heart and souls stayed connected. Her present situations, the self-drawn boundaries burned her insides, making silent tears trickle down her cheeks which she hastily wiped when she thought Asad wasn't looking.
Mannato mei umar bhar ka sath jinka maanga
Humsafar woh chutne lage
Sheeshe ke woh khwab nazuk the humare saare
Choone par woh tootne laage
Na marna munasib jiys bhi na jaye re

Haire haaire
Daaire daaire... Unknown to Zoya, Asad was the silent spectator of her every move. His eyes hardly left her face and it was due to the unusually clear road only that they didn't meet any accident. His soul died a thousand deaths of pure agony. He gulped hard and his own eyes turned red in order to keep his tears in check. He gripped the steering wheel so strongly that his knuckles turned white but he couldn't even feel that pain as his soul cried along with hers. His mind flooded with every single memory of their togetherness, from best to worst. Some soothed, some pinched but everyone showed their journey. Though they never voiced it aloud, all they wanted was to be with each other for the whole life, to love, cherish and protect each other. Was it their fault that they got separated instead in result of these prayers? What was her fault that she had to endure the worst things possible? Though their outlook and approach towards life was completely different but from inside their hearts were just the same, fragile and vulnerable like a delicate piece of glass. When after so many hardships, they finally gathered the courage to embrace it, just a little touch broke in to dust, leaving them to die every day but still continue to breath.
Asad stopped the car in front of Zoya's one storey, simple but elegant house. He turned towards his left to find Zoya peacefully sleeping, keeping her head on the head-rest. Not having the heart to wake her up from her much needed slumber, Asad went to her side and after unbuckling her, picked her up in his arms. Locking the door, he proceeded to wards the house. He mentally thanked Dr. Meera for giving him the spare keys of the house which Zoya had once given her. He managed to somehow open the front door with Zoya in his arms. Zoya, being disturbed by the movements, whined incoherently in her sleep and snuggled closer to Asad, gripping her hands more firmly around his neck. She rubbed the side of her face on his chest in order to find the perfect position to rest her head and once found, sighed contently in sleep, making Asad smile lovingly at her with all the love in this world shining in his eyes. He stepped inside the house and was immediately engulfed by a homely feeling which only a home can provide, not a house. It was simple in interior but still cozy and classy which he silently admired. His heart filled with sadness as he thought of api and jeeju but decided to focus on the sleeping beauty in his arms instead. She still sleeps like a child' He mentally noted. Though abandoned for a day, the house didn't wore any signs of the chilly wind blowing outside as it engulfed them with warmness the moment they entered. It was only needed for someone to open its door, just like Zoya. She thought that her heart had lost the ability to love but in reality, she just needed to open the door to her heart and she will find the same love, positivity and care shining as brightly as before in them. Moon can forget to shine one day but Zoya could never forget to love, not even for a single heartbeat. Asad smiled at his thoughts and went to the room which he assumed to be Zoya's, giving to the name-board hanging from the door. He carefully laid her down on her bed, mindful not to wake her up. Though Zoya frowned at first at the loss of his warmth but then went back to sleeping peacefully as Asad covered her with her blanket till her chin, making her snuggle into it. It was then when his eyes landed on the picture frame kept on the bed-side table and his heart warmed again. It was designed as an open book where one page had the picture of her api and jeeju and the other had the picture of Dilshad and Najma. At the top " World's best family, My family" was written cutely. His happiness soon gave way to the heart wrenching pain which pierced his heart when he noticed himself missing from the picture. "She doesn't consider me as family" his shattered heart thought painfully but before he could think more he saw another picture frame peeking out from under her pillow. Curious, he carefully brought it out and what he saw in it, made his heart swell with happiness and this time tears of absolute happiness blurred his vision. It was a picture of one of those very rare moments when smile fully and the picture was captioned as " My love My world". Asad didn't understand what to do. Though indirectly but this was her confession of her feelings for him. In spite of everything, he knew all these years that she also loved him as much as he did but this innocent and pure symbol just filled his heart with new found joy. Amidst his uncontrollable happiness, his eyes didn't fail to notice the dried water marks on the glass or the faint hand prints on it and the pain he felt at that almost shadowed his happiness completely. His heart went out for the girl who was now dozing off peacefully, as he thought about all those times she must have caresses or cried holding this picture. She needed him the most at that time but he wasn't there to hold her. He felt angry at himself for not being able to protect her. He gingerly traced his fingertips on the dried tear marks on the glass and then carefully placed it back at its previous place. He softly caressed her hair and dropped a loving kiss on her forehead, making her smile in her sleep. Giving one last fond smile at his sleeping beauty, he exited the room, silently closing the door behind him. He knew that he would bring her back to herself because though not physically present, his family's, including api and jeeju, blessing, love and support was with him.

PRECAP: " Because of you I am jobless today." Zoya cried out dramatically.
-" Ms. Farooqui there is a huge difference between being jobless and being on a leave. And in this four-week's leave, two weeks the company itself is going to stay closed due to the holidays." Asad explained while massaging his forehead but then as if remembering something continued in mischievous tone.
- " By the way Ms. Farooqui, you are not on a complete leave. Mr. James did give you a job, right? And that is to keep me entertained. After all I am going to sign such a big deal with this company and to make a deal work, you have to keep your partner happy right?" Asad finished with a wink and this made Zoya's mouth fall agape in shock and incredulity.
