Sorry im late but hey this is so exciting!!

Part 7 - "Aisi Deewanagi" - Part 1

*"Tune Peheli Nazar main Sanam, Mere dil ko churaya...Bina deke tuje ab na aye karrar. Har gadi hain muje ab tera intezaar!"

Aahil and Nida were staring at the sight in front of them. Nida was laughing as she realised that she had never seen Aahil so stumped since she had known him. The song they were dancing to stopped and changed to another and Sanam and her friends made their way back to the booth, followed by her twin and Rehan. Aahil realised that he didn't even know his brother's girlfriends name? How rude must she have thought him, when he cut off Rehan's introduction and said that he and "Ms Khan" were already acquainted? Also, Sanam? What must she have thought of him, the way he had carried on in the foyer, asking her all these questions about why she was here, and what she was wearing? She really must have thought he was on something! "Great job Aahil. What a great impression you created on both Sanam and her sister!"

"Looks like this is your moment Aahil" said Nida, nudging him.

"My moment?" he said looking at Nida confused.

"To go over and make an impression'?"

"I think I've already made one Nida! And not a good one!" said Aahil ruefully.

"Well, you know what they say...there is no time like the present! So go make a better impression now!" Nida said, turning in the opposite direction.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"To find Sohail".

"No way. You are coming with me! I don't think I can face 'double trouble' and their friends by myself thanks. Especially after the way I made an ass of myself in front of both of them" said Aahil, taking Nida's hand, and escorting her through the crowd to the Booth where Rehan and co were sitting.

Sanam saw Aahil walk towards their booth. Holding his hand, was the girl who had come with him to "S2" on the second night he had dinner there. The night he had called her to his table pretending like he was going to complain about something and instead "complimented" her!

Rhea nudged her."Looks like our Nawab Sahib has a new side kick from the one he had with him the first night we saw him?"

"You noticed? He has a new side kick every week I think? Weren't you the one defending him that night?" said Sanam shaking her head.

"Hey all I said was the man is hot, and you might have been too hard on him" said Rhea in a low tone.

"You know Rehan called him 'Bhai'?" Said Aliyah in a whisper, in case Rehan hears them. But Rehan and Seher were having their own whispered conversation.

"Bhai? But he's his boss?" said Sanam in a confused tone. "I know he works for 'Ibrahim Holdings', which I only found out today! When he said 'I.H Group', I didn't connect the dots to Ibrahim Holdings, till I saw the Nawab Sahib walk into the restaurant with his work group this evening. Rehan organised a deal with the restaurant for his company! But what is this 'Bhai' thing? Maybe he's a cousin or something?"

"I don't know? I'm sure that's what he called him" said Aliyah softly. Sanam was about to say something when suddenly there was a hush at the table and she looked up to see that Aahil and his companion were already standing next to their booth.

"Bhai!" said Rehan once more as he stood up. Rhea and Aliyah looked at Sanam as if to say "We told you so"?

"Rehan, I came over to meet your friends. I apologize that the introductions remained incomplete last time", said Aahil as smoothly as he could.

"But Bhai...you said you already met Seher?" said Rehan in a confused tone, looking at Aahil pointedly. "I'm not sure when or how...but?...", trailed off Rehan.

"Actually Rehan, it was my mistake" Aahil said looking at Seher. "I'm very sorry for the confusion. Very pleased to meet you Seher. I'm Aahil. Rehan's brother" said Aahil, extending his hand towards Seher, and smiling. Seher took his hand and smiled back at him. She seemed suitably impressed by his gesture.

"Pleased to meet you too Aahil" said Seher, shaking his hand. "Rehan has told me so much about you".

"Oh No. What did you tell her little brother?" said Aahil feigning shock.

"Nothing that isn't true Bhai" said Rehan giving a cheeky grin.

Sanam and her friends took this in. "Aahil was Rehan's brother? Then why did they have two different last names?" thought Sanam.

"Seher, this is Nida. We went to collage together" said Aahil.

"Nice to meet you Nida" said Seher, moving forward and shaking Nida's hand.

"Charmed!" said Nida with a small smile. She glanced at Sanam pointedly. "I have already met your sister, when Aahil and I had dinner at "S2" around 3 weeks ago" said Nida.

"OMG, so when you said 'Ms Khan and I are already acquainted', you meant Api? I mean Sanam?" said Seher looking at Aahil. "I was wondering what you meant? I was totally confused. Now it all makes sense!" said Seher looking at Aahil and then her sister. She suddenly sensed a 'vibe' there. It looked to Seher like Api was sizing him up, ready for battle. But Aahil? He had a certain light in his eyes when he looked at Sanam? Sort of intense? Seher gave a small smile. "What was going on here? Interesting" she thought.

"Yes Nida and I have met, the second time Mr Ibrahim had dinner at "S2", but the first time I met Mr Ibrahim, he was with someone else, and I met him only because he wanted to complain about our food! He requested to see the head chef, that too when I was off duty!" Sanam added for good mesure. "It was Nat's birthday". She said, looking at Seher.

"Complain?" Bhai...You wanted to complain about the food? At S2? But they do everything so perfectly?"

"Your brother objected to the way we served our Panna Cotta in a glass Rehan. He said he couldn't see 'technique' when it's served like that!"

"Yeah, sounds about right. Bhai is particular about his food!" said Rehan with a smirk.

"I don't think it's fair for you to only mention the time I complained Ms Khan? Surely you remember that on my second visit, I complimented your menu?" said Aahil archly.

"Yes you did, Mr Ibrahim, after giving my floor manager the impression that you were calling me out to complain about something?" said Sanam giving him a sarcastic look.

"I'm not sure why she got that impression? I only told her I wanted to see the Head Chef?" Aahil lied, feigning ignorance.

"Really? I am sure she got that 'impression' Mr Ibrahim, because you gave it to her?"

"Looks to me like you can't get past your initial bias of me Ms Khan?"

"They do say, first impressions are everything?" said Sanam.

"They also say that first impressions can often be misleading?"

"In your case, I think it may have been spot on Mr Ibrahim?"

"Really Ms Khan? Is this impression founded on what you read in some Page 3 column? Or something some busybody told you? I think I told you before, don't believe everything you hear?"

"And as I told you before Mr Ibrahim, I didn't get my impression from a column, or a gossip, but from my own experience!"

"Yes, like I said the other day at the movies Ms Khan, your 'experience' of me is very limited? I remember you conceding that day, that my original complaint was valid? Said Aahil arrogantly.

"I never said anything like that Mr Ibrahim...all I said was that you had a point, I also said I thought you were pompous and arrogant, and I..."

"Time out, time out kids" said Seher doing a T' with her hands and rolling her eyes. "You were not kidding when you said you and 'Ms Khan' were 'acquainted' did you?" Said Seher looking at Aahil. "Also, when did you go to the movies together?" said Seher looking at Sanam quizzically.

"We didn't go together Seher. Mr Ibrahim and I met there by chance?" said Sanam, with an ironic look towards Seher.

"Oh Lord, the way you call each other 'Mr Ibrahim' and 'Ms Khan'? It reminds me of Ammi and Abbu?" Said Seher with a laugh.

Everyone looked at her expectantly after that statement, as if wanting clarification of what she meant?

"When our parents first met, they called each other "Mr Khan" and "Ms Farooqui", not "Asad" and "Zoya"! This continued till they got married, and even after they got married, Ammi called Abbu "Mr Khan", and Abbu started to call her "Mrs Khan!"

"How adorbs?" said Nida.

"I know right?" said Seher smiling.

"It eventually became almost an endearment between them. Abbu would sometimes call Ammi 'Zoya'. Mostly when he was in a romantic mood. The way he would say it?" said Seher in a dreamy tone. "He adored her, and she him! I am sure Ammi only ever called Abbu "Asad", when they were alone, and...you know?' Said Seher giggling. Rhea, and Aliyah giggled along with her, and Nida too laughed. Rehan supressed a grin, and Aahil a smirk. "Looks like Seher was not as proper and discreet as her sister?" But she was very cute though, and Aahil totally understood what Rehan saw in her. She was a good foil for the usually more reserved Rehan.

"Seher...Please?" admonished Sanam. "You're talking of our parents here?"

"Yeah and they were a normal couple Api? Just coz they were our parents, it doesn't change that fact! They were so in love. I miss them so much" she said wistfully, and there was a sadness in her eyes. Rehan instantly took her hand in his and gave it a small squeeze. Sanam noticed this and her eyes misted up a bit. Rehan obviously cared very much for her sister. It made her happy to see that he had such a good gauge of Seher's emotions. "He will be a good life partner to her" thought Sanam.

Aahil too noticed this exchange and the look that came on Sanam's face when she watched it. "She loves her sister a lot", thought Aahil. Her happiness clearly mattered a lot to her. Sanam looked like the type that loved deeply when she did love someone. A fact made clear to Aahil from the way that she had reacted to her sister's obvious luck in love. No matter how confrontational Sanam was with him, and how decisive and no nonsense she appeared, she also had a soft heart under that cool exterior. That was the Sanam he wanted to know.

Aahil was lost in his thoughts and he didn't even realise that he was staring at Sanam. However, Rehan who had been looking at Aahil most of this time had noticed the way his eyes never seemed to leave Sanam's face. In fact, other than the short time he had talked directly to Seher and him, the rest of the time, his eyes had been firmly planted on "Ms Khan" as he had called her. "Was THIS the girl Bhai had talked of, and then implied that things didn't work out?" speculated Rehan. But then, he had said that the girl in question was seeing another guy? As far as he knew, Sanam was single? So how was it possible that it was her he was talking of? However, his reaction to Sanam could not be dismissed, coz Rehan had never seen his brother this confrontational with a girl before? Heck, he had not even seen him talk this spiritedly to any of the girls he had dated over the years? Rehan could not dismiss this as nothing. "There is something here for sure!" He thought with a small smile.

"The irony? Had he and Bhai BOTH fallen for two sisters? That too twins?" Just as this thought formed in his mind, a sudden realisation dawned on Rehan. Aahil had clearly met Sanam before? Not once, but twice, and didn't he mention something about meeting her at the movies? So that makes it three times? He had no idea that Aahil had even GONE to the movies? Coz he knew Sanam had gone on Wednesday. Because when he met Seher to play pool, she had mentioned that she was supposed to go to the movies with her sister, but instead came out with him? "But Bhai had said that he was going out with Nida on Wednesday?" In fact, that was the reason he had given for not being able to have dinner with him at S2? Had Aahil lied to him to avoid going to S2 with him? If so, why? He clearly remembered telling Aahil that the girl he was seeing was co-owner of "S2"? "She co-owns S2?" he remembered Aahil saying. Suddenly the penny dropped for Rehan. "Bhai had thought that he was dating SANAM, not Seher!" But how had he known that the girl he was talking of was the same girl? He must have seen him and Seher somewhere together? That is the only thing that made sense. Suddenly Rehan remembered that he had met Seher at the coffee shop near "S2" last Monday? The day after Bhai had come back from Punjab? He knew that was Aahil's favorite coffee shop. He must have seen them there. That is the only thing that explained everything. Was THAT the reason for the strange behaviour for the past week? Getting drunk on Monday night? Calling in sick, lying to him about meeting Nida? Then that unplanned trip to the site? Was ALL this in aid of avoiding him? He remembered his joke about asking the girl he likes to "dump" the guy she was seeing for him? Aahil's response had been "Yehi toh main nahin kar saktha hu!"

Rehan was convinced. Sanam had to be that girl. But he must in some way confirm it. But if Sanam was in fact that girl, everything made total sense. Aahil must have been struggling with the idea of him having moved in on his territory and asking out the girl he secretly had a thing for? Especially coz nothing like that had ever happened before. He and Aahil had never liked the same girl. The truth was, he didn't think Aahil had ever "fallen" for anyone before? This must be a new experience for him? He also recalled that Aahil had broken up with Simran during the time that he had been at the Mumbai I.T conference, where he had met Seher. He'd told him that when they talked on the phone. So it all fell in line with the time that he might have met Sanam for the first time, when he went to "S2?" Didn't she say that the first time he came there, he was with someone else? Not Nida? Probably Simran. Never in his life had he seen Aahil behave the way he had the past week. He had given a good rendition of a "Devdas" type? Rehan smiled. "Well I'll be damned! Bhai may actually be in love?"

"Bhai, you never mentioned to me that you had such a showdown at "S2" with Sanam? You know how I love to hear stories of your adventures?" said Rehan with an arch look at Aahil.

"It must have slipped my mind Rehan?" said Aahil giving him a withering look. "Rehan really was turning into a cheeky b***rd"! Aahil thought.

"You don't say? Sounds memorable Bhai? It's not every day you meet a female head chef, that too a beautiful one?" said Rehan suppressing a smile. Seher looked at Rehan and they exchanged a "Are you thinking what I am thinking?" look.

"I doubt your brother thinks of our 'showdown' as you call it "memorable" Rehan? After all, he is the Nawab of Bhopal? He must have memorable encounters every day? As for beautiful women...well he seems to meet a new one daily? Who can remember all of them right?" said Sanam in a sarcastic tone looking at Aahil. Aahil too was looking at Sanam, and the look in his eyes made it clear he was not happy with what he had just heard.

"Anyone for more drinks?" said Seher, who had sensed the sudden tension between her sister and Aahil. "This round is on me!" Seher started to ask around the table of what everyone would have. She then looked at Sanam. "Will you help me with the order Api? You too girls?" She said looking at their friends. She wanted to get Sanam away from the table to ask her about what on earth was going on between her and Aahil? It seemed Rhea and Aliyah might know something too, coz they were there the first night she met Aahil.

"Sure" said Sanam, as she got up to join Seher, and so did the others. They started to make their way towards the bar, and Rehan gestured for Aahil and Nida to sit at the booth. Nida declined, saying she will go find Sohail first. She went in search of him. Aahil sat next to Rehan. Aahil watched Sanam and her sister walk together. Now that he had seen both of them together, their differences were easier to spot. Yes they looked alike, but not alike as well. He was watching Sanam intently. He had not been happy with the dig she had made at him about how he would not have found meeting her "memorable" because he met different women every day? It seemed that she thought of him only as a 'Casanova type' who met and forgot women just as easily? If only she knew how memorable she had proven to be for him? For nearly a month now all he had done was think of her, or try not to think of her. "If only you knew Sanam? If you knew how unforgettable you really are?" Aahil thought. If she knew then she would never make the mistake of counting herself in the same group as "women he met every day". He sighed audibly.

"Beautiful isn't she?" said Rehan's voice next to him.

"Yes, she is. Feisty too, and always ready for a fight" said Aahil with another sigh.

"You figured all that out about her in just one meeting?"

"One meeting"? Said Aahil, looking at Rehan.

"I meant Seher. But looks like you didn't?"Smirked Rehan.

"Where exactly did you meet her Rehan?" said Aahil, quickly changing the subject.

"I.T Conference. Mumbai. She is a Programmer. I told you. Beauty and brains". Said Rehan.

"Yes looks like both run in the family?"

"Yup! Looks like we lucked out, ha bhai?" said Rehan looking intently at Aahil.

"Yes" Aahil breathed with a faraway look in his eyes.

"Boy...he has it BAD!" thought Rehan. He had never seen his brother like this. "Pura ka pura deewana bangaya hain!" So that saying that when a player falls, he falls hard, is actually true?

"Aap toh bohoth ahe barane lage hain bhai?"

"What?" said Aahil distractedly, still looking at the girls now standing at the bar.

"Earth to Bhai? Are you even listening to me?" asked Rehan with a laugh.

"Yeah".

"Yeah Right" said Rehan, shaking his head. "Aisi deewanagi...deki nahin kahin" sang Rehan under his breath.

"Are you singing?" Said Aahil, finally looking at Rehan. "You know you can't sing?"

"At least it got your attention? Kaha kogaye ho bhai?"

"What do you mean Rehan?" said Aahil trying to cover up his behavior.

"Looks like you didn't have to ask her to dump the guy she was seeing after all? Coz it turns out it's her sister who was dating someone right?"

"Yes" said Aahil, and just then realised what he said and quickly amended his response to "What?"

"Come on bhai...this is ME? Do you think I didn't figure out that Sanam was the girl you were talking about?"

"What gives you that impression Rehan?" said Aahil, who was trying not to be drawn on the subject.

"One look at your face, gives me all the impression I need bhai! Not to mention the way you acted from the moment you got here? You thought Seher was Sanam right? And not just tonight? That's why you've been behaving so strangely the past week? DON'T bother denying it. I'm not your brother for nothing?"

"Fine!" Muttered Aahil, who knew he was stumped.

"So it IS true? God bhai...WHY didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what? That the girl I'd started to like was the girl that you were raving about?"

"Did you see us at the coffee shop?"

"How did you know?"

"I just put two and two together just now. That was the only place you could have seen us?"

"Yeah, I saw you guys come out together when I went there on Monday. I was on the other side of the road, so you didn't see me!"

"That can't have been fun for you. If it had been Seher with you, I would have been gutted too. So I totally get it. That is the hassle of dating a twin! The potential for drama is endless!" said Rehan laughing softly.

"Yes, I agree about the potential for drama! What a week it's been? I guess Seher was the 'improved view' you were referring to from the conference?" said Aahil with a smirk.

"Yes she most definitely was! Looks like we were both victims at the same time?"

"I don't know what it is Rehan? When I first saw her, for a moment I actually forgot why I had asked to see the head chef in the first place? There's just something about her!" said Aahil sighing again.

"I know what you mean! I thought the same thing from the moment I met Seher?"

"I like her. Good choice Rehan!"

"I can say the same for you too Bhai!" said Rehan smiling.

Meanwhile at the bar, the girls were having their own little conference.

"I bet they are talking about us" said Seher looking at the boys sitting at the booth. "Api...you have turned into a dark horse? Kindly dish the dirt on what the hell is going on between you and Aahil?"

"Nothing is going on between us Seher? Pagal hogayi hu kya?"

"No Api. Main pagal nahin ho gayi hu. Lekin lagtha hain, Nawab Sahib toh deewana ban gaya hain?" said Seher with a wink.

"Deewana? Kis khi?"

"Aap ki! Aur kis ki?" said Seher laughing. "This girl is SO obtuse? What say girls? Don't you think the Nawab Sahib looked quite interested in what Api thinks of him?"

"For sure!" said Rhea. "He almost looked hurt when you said that he cant possibly think your first meeting was memorable Sanam?"

"Yeah, I think so too?" Aliyah joined the chorus.

"SEE Api? Everyone can see it but you?"

"You guys have lost it? He was not HURT? He would have been pissed off that I called him out on his behavior? Also, why the heck would he be obsessing over ME? I am sure he has so many women chasing after him constantly?" said Sanam looking at the group and shaking her head.

"Maybe that's why he likes you? Coz you are NOT chasing him?" said Seher.

"Even if it was true, which I don't think it is...it is just the novelty factor of meeting a women who is not in awe of him, and his title and money? Nothing more!"

"Don't forget his hot looks!" said Rhea smirking.

"Yeah...I probably shouldn't say this, coz he is Rehan's brother, and that sort of makes him my brother too...but he honestly is quite hot! Totally edgy. Actually, he is exactly your type Api?" said Seher with a pointed look towards Sanam.

"How is he Rehan's brother?" asked Sanam changing the subject. "They have different last names? Is he his cousin or something?"

"Nice save Api! This topic is not closed by any means. But No...Aahil and Rehan are not cousins. They are actually step brothers. Aahil's Father married Rehan's Mother when they were both kids. Rehan's Dad was in the army and he died in action, and Aahil's Mother had passed away as well. So when Rehan was 4 and Aahil 8, the Nawab married Rehan's Mum and that's how they became brothers. But Rehan told me that they were always very close, and could not be closer if they were actually biological brothers. He speaks VERY highly of Aahil, and really loves him, so he CANT be as bad as you think he is Api?" said Seher looking at Sanam.

"I only know what I saw Seher" said Sanam defensively. "I am sure he must be a good brother. But that doesn't mean he is a good guy? It's not the same thing?"

"If he is a good brother, then he must have good qualities right? When his Dad married Rehan's Mum, he could have been all high and mighty with Rehan? After all he was the Chote Nawab? But he never was? That's what Rehan said. Also, he always loved and respected his Mum. Always treated her like he would his own Mum! So that must mean he is a good guy? He is not only a good brother, but a good son too?"

"OK.OK! Are you sure it's Rehan you're in love with?" said Sanam in a sarcastic tone. "Fine, so he is a great brother and even better son! I only know how he acted towards me! That's all. He seemed surprised when Sean introduced me as the Head Chef when I went to his table? Also, I saw the way he looked at me? He stared at me, like totally objectifying me!" said Sanam indignantly.

"That's called checking someone out Api! Not objectifying them. Aahil totally has the HOTS for you!" said Seher with a laugh.

"No he doesn't!" Sanam denied vehemently. "Anyways, that day he was with this chick with a whiney voice, and the next day he comes in with that Nida?"

"Looks like he dumped that whiney chick Sanam? Also, didn't he say Nida was his collage friend"? Said Aliyah.

"Whatever, but he doesn't have the hots for me ok?"

"Oh I think he does" said Rhea smiling. "Even that night, I saw the way he stared at you when he left the restaurant. But today just confirmed it! You lucky B***h!"

"I told you guys before. Just coz he is hot and has a title doesn't mean that I think he's anything special!"

"So you ADMIT he is hot"? Said Seher.

"Well, I have to be blind not to accept his obvious good looks" said Sanam grudgingly.

"You have to be equally blind not to see the very obvious 'looks' he gives you Api? I felt it for a second, when he first came over, and Rehan was introducing me to him. He thought I was YOU! The way he was looking at me? I felt the burn! The way he said "Ms Khan and I are already acquainted"? That was SO Mr Darcy? I thought only of you at that moment! The irony is that he thought he was actually talking to YOU!"

So THAT was why he had acted so strangely towards her in the foyer? He had already met Seher? That's why he had looked so dazed and confused and asked her what she was doing there, and about what she was wearing! So he wasn't on drugs after all? Why did that knowledge please her? "What is it to me if he DID take drugs?"

"Yeah" Rhea's voice cut through Sanam's thoughts. "When he said that he knew Seher, I was sure he had mistaken her for you Sanam" said Rhea. "From where I was sitting, he didn't look pleased when he thought you were Rehan's girlfriend!"

"Looks like you guys are the one's on drugs tonight? And I thought it was the Nawab Sahib?" Sanam quickly explained to the girls what had happened in the foyer, and how she had been perplexed by his strange behavior.

"Poor guy! He must have wondered what hit him? And you thought he was on drugs? See how wrong you were about that? So maybe your wrong about other things too Sanam?" said Aliyah.

"No Aliyah...In this case Api was right! Nasha toh hain Nawab Sahib ke ankon main. Shayad pyaar ka Nasha?" said Seher looking in the direction where Aahil and Rehan were sitting.

"Pyaar? PLEASE Seher. Just coz you're in love, don't go seeing things that are not there in other people's eyes!"

"OK. I won't say Pyaar! But Deewanagi? Uski ankon main Deewanagi zaroor hain!"

"If only some Hot Nawab would be MY deewana?" said Rhea with a sigh! "It's all wasted on Pathar Ke Sanam here!"

"Shayad yeh Deewanapan, pathar ko bhi pigal jaye?" said Aliyah raising her eyebrows.

"You guys do your Ghatiya Shayaris! I am going back to the booth!" said Sanam indignantly.

"Going to join your Deewana?" said Seher laughing. The others joined her laughter.

Sanam decided against walking back to the booth and decided to go outside for some air instead. She moved towards the foyer entrance. She needed to get her head around what her sister and friends had said! "Did Aahil really have the 'Hots' for her, as they said?" thought Sanam, her face flaming.

In the opposite side of the club, a pair of eyes were watching her intently. Eyes full of "Deewanagi"!

Ohhh my Goodness!!! This was the best part you have written so far. I mean I had this silly smile plastered over my face reading it. Love, love it. 😃 And the totally lattoo Aahil is so freaking cute. ;) He was so shocked when Sanam said he would never remember their first meeting. So very fantastic.
