This was it! .. and Sanam's perspective, couldn't have said it better!

Aahil tells a very convincing lie (or so others think) when in fact.. it is the most painful truth he's been carrying around all this while. For the first time, he bared it all in front of everyone, in front of Sanam. Even under pretense, that must've felt like a momentary release?

And KVB, amazing! One can see the changing, fluid emotions bare in his eyes.. ! What more can a woman want! .. Oh yes, one tiny request, please bring back the stubble, the sexiness quotient just rises to scary levels with a stubble! ;) #RealKVB

In some episode in the past where S and R are talking and she is bemoaning how horrible ARI is, R consoles her saying:
"This much of despair is only seen in those, who, at some time, held some hope..."

So, yes, she still holds that spark of hope inside her that ARI will be different now...and each time the hopes get raised only to be dashed...
But by nature, she is an optimist and won't stay down for long...ARI, on the other hand, is by nature, a pessimist, and he keeps clutching the thought of S, the love he has for her as a life-line from drowning in his world of hurt.
