True to Asad's basic essence and the narrative. Ayaan certainly has immense faith, trust and confidence in his brother and Ayaan's recognition of Asad is rightly precise.
"It's simple. A person only gets disappointed when he or she has high expectations from the other person."
Absolute truth!
"What are you planning on doing Zoya?"
"I can't tell you that, Ammi."
"Then tell me, whatever you're planning on doing, does your heart tell you it is the right thing to do?"
"Not the right thing Ammi, the only thing to do." Zoya answered, trying to keep her voice level.
This was tear-jerking, pulled at heartstrings.
I saw the man I called my husband, playing cricket on the streets to honor his father's memory and losing deliberately to children at the end and I thought to myself that I'd never seen a finer man in my whole life.
Her realization was breathtaking. That independent recollection was just as beautiful as the narration of the actual scene, an imperfectly perfect man, a broken being, yet a liberated soul.
"That's the beauty of love I guess. It doesn't look for huge, extravagant moments; all it looks for is a good heart and I guess that is the reason I fell for you so hard because your heart is the purest thing about you.
Look at me rambling on but I just had to say all this, Mr. Khan. You need to know all this. You need to know that you deserve to be loved... I don't know whether I can say the same about me though... As much as I would've liked it, you and I can never be together. You and I together, is a broken dream that will have to complete itself in sleep, never in reality."
This letter was simply beautiful.
"I love you, Zoya." He said softly with such confidence and with such simplicity in his air that Zoya was left dumbstruck. "I'm here to tell you that I love you. It's that simple and that complicated." His voice was thick, his eyes shimmering with tears that looked like they were going to escape any minute.
The blood shot eyes, tone of voice and expressions were so imaginable and true to Asad's basic characteristics. Simple yet exquisite. Simply loved that he boarded that flight along with Zoe, who I thought was written beautifully in this chapter, the balance of the emotions she felt was a charming read.
I couldn't help but feel unexplained pain for Zaroon, he is an amazing friend.
Hope we get an Epilogue, this couple along with their amazing family and Zaroon would be a charming read post confession/honeymoon. And you could perhaps treat us to a fiction where they are parents, that you so brilliantly write. 😳 ⭐️
P.S Favorite Scenes:
1. Asad burning that briefcase of money to keep Zoya warm for the night;
2. Playing cricket on the road with those little children and;
3. The night Zoe runs from home, leading to Asad's realization.
When I reflect over this FF, these three scene stand out because of the sentiment, realization and perception behind them, apart from this, there were numerous poignant and enthralling scenes throughout this amazingly captivating journey.
