I know this is not the first time the original synopsis of QH1 has been invoked on QH2...a few thoughts from my side...đł
Back in October 2012 when I heard about 4 Lions making a new show named Qubool Hai , I was deeply engrossed in another show of theirs by the name Iss Pyar Ko kya Naam doon?'đ
I heard about the synopsis of the show- It was supposedly about two brothers falling for the same girl. I thought I'd never watch the show, because it was a stale concept for me. I had no issues about the right' and wrong' about it...frankly speaking, Saajan' must be the only movie I watched patiently on this...there, if I remember rightly, Sanjay Dutt was the adopted brother of Salman Khan...and other than the general plot, all I remember of the film is the fantastic songs...suffice to say, I thought it was the most boring plot ever!
But Gul gave me a pleasant surprise when I started watching QH carefully after IPK closed down. There was no shadow of two brothers falling for Zoya. (Especially since I caught up with the first episode only months down the line...đ)
By the time the infamous Zoyaan track came, I was quite sure that Asya will never be separated other than a small physical separation. Amidst hues and cries of the immorality of the track, I wondered what it would have been like if Gul had actually stuck to the initial synopsis...
It was to have been about Zoya marrying Ayan first (a marriage of convenience) and him divorcing her immediately( I suppose that can be easily presumed to be of Raziya's doing...) Later Ayan actually falls for Zoya, and seeks Asad's help in winning her over...one of the major hurdles for Ayan would be that he cannot marry Zoya unless she is married and divorced again...that would where Asad would have to step in...and he ends up falling for his Brother's love...This is what I understood the story was supposed to have been like...
An actor like KSG bringing to life an Asad Ahmed Khan who had to fight this overpowering feeling he starts developing for a girl who is out of bounds' for him...and Surbhi as the naive Zoya who does not realise that she has fallen in love with the man who is diametrically opposite to her in every way...When I caught a glimpse of Asad's jealousy and possessiveness in Zoyaan track, I understood why the original plot had been strong and also why it had been modified. A woman being a wife to two brothers...does not sound nice at all...so the writer tried to portray the hero's anguish in a different way.
When I watched the Thursday episode, the twist simply left me in awe. Karanvir Bohra giving life to an AAhil Razaa Ibrahim... a man of no tameez or tehzeeb...when he has to give up his love to a more deserving man, who happens to be his adopted brother...a boy who tails him like a shadow..worships him like a god...
He is the epitome of jealousy when he catches Rehaan whose kahaani has found him...unfortunately, the very kahaani that refused to favour him...yet he has the grace and goodwill to wish his brother the very best...giving up the woman he gave his heart to...
...And very soon he would be called up to be the keeper of his brother's love... Sanam would be his, legally...but morally he would have to fight his feelings with every ounce of will power because he knows exactly where Sanam stands in his life...and his brother's life...
If Rehaan had not confessed to him, Sanam would have been destiny's perfect gift...now she is simply someone loaned to him...
He can only truly ever be hers...
She can never be his...
Even though we have been seeing it for a while, that one Aahil- Rehaan scene...it was perfect...and KVB was more than perfect! The transition from a disappointed lover to a resigned, well wishing brother...it definitely is one of the epic scenes of this seasonđ...kudos to the writer, director and actor for bringing the concept alive!đ
