I think it's too gracious on our parts to say that Zoya has kept mum all along simply and wholly because AsYa's love has transcended all common bounds. Vice versa, I don't think it's right to say that she has no dignity either. She was caught up in storm of things and didn't speak up for herself. Perhaps she was scared of the consequences of her decision? She was weak, yes. I can't say much about lacking self-respect though.

As for the interesting discussion going on here, my two cents:

Zoya is not a willing Christ figure. She isn't a voluntary martyr, sacrificing herself for the greater good. Everything she has done in this ZoYaan fiasco was because she refused to speak up for herself at the right time.

Asad was a jackass too for taking into his hands the fate of someone he had no right over. At least no right like that. Two bodies, one soul is not a good argument in this situation.

As for the other characters that have been mentioned:

Badi Bee needs to die. I'll gladly dig her grave. I bet Zoe regrets saving her now. Good life lesson for her.

Humaira is giving off bad vibes. She's always been more on the psychotic side of the spectrum. I won't be surprised if she turns malicious.

Nikhat and Nuzhat are insignificant. They are not doing anything to help the situation. Not are they worsening it.

Rashid continues to be a pussy.

So I guess this is what it boils down to in the end: Team Razi FTW!

I said it but i dont put more blame on Asad.. I put more blame on Zoya.. so a slight difference in why i wasnt being agreed with .. 😆

I think no one was forcing zoya to fall into the pit.. all of this was a result of her stupidity and

asad too is at fault for his situation as well.. i agree to that. but i wouldnt go as far as to say he was forcing Zoya to do anything.

I Jazz I also dont agree with the two bodies one soul arguement.. but i think Zoya herself is at fault for listening to asad and considering his words as SOO important that she didnt say Screw you and leave. She finds asads words and everything WAY important.. and thats her own fault.

Hi Sangi,
Self respect defines an individual...it's plain and simple. Should falling in love change it. The answer is no. IMO, if an individual has to strip of their self respect for the sake of love, I don't think that love is worth it at all.

I don't think Zoya ever had self respect ...she should have walked out of the house the first time Asad insulted her...she wasn't in love then...was she ? Let alone the slap and the very recent trading fiasco. The point is Asad has never prioritized her and she very well knows that,in-spite of that she has trusted him once again which I am afraid will fall back on her face. Why...because once again he is going to prioritize his sister Najma's happiness and dump her. It's just a never ending story and pattern.

She would not return to NYC because the female protagonist cannot leave the country...that about it. I would actually welcome a new man in a woman's life in such conditions...anything other than going back to the man who betrays you at every opportunity he gets. Do you really think any woman deserves that ?

Self respect comes first above everything.
