I think no one was forcing zoya to fall into the pit.. all of this was a result of her stupidity and

asad too is at fault for his situation as well.. i agree to that. but i wouldnt go as far as to say he was forcing Zoya to do anything.

I wouldn't use words like dragged/forced her into a marriage either. The ultimate decision was Zoya's. And she chose to give in to Asad. She wasn't held at gunpoint when she signed the nikaahnama. The Akram fiasco? That would have been a force marriage, because the poor girl was in no condition to think for herself. Such was not the case here.

That being said, I'll continue to give Asad 50% of the blame for not only manipulating Zoya, but also allowing himself to be manipulated by Ayaan. If we can blame Zoya for being manipulated by Asad, then the same idea should apply all around.

Very nice post di,IMO,self respect still matters a lot for Zoya. Equation changes when it comes to Asad because Asad is also included in the circumfrence of self of Zoya. You can go away from world but you cant go away from your self. And love is the only thing in the world which can not only overpower your ego but also can eliminate it.Zoya has given that haq to Asad and thats why i can not digest moving on of Zoya or Asad now.One question di, would you please explain the role of Ayan in dargah scene?

Great post Sangeeta! Can't really add much only that I think the love is definitely larger than life 😆 I wouldn't have stuck around a man like Asad, like Zoe has. I would have left him the day he practically coerced me to go meet that douchebag Akram, against my wishes.

Then again I'm not even a fifth as emotionally strong in character as Zoya. She's a fighter and she loves fiercely.

Awesome post! I agree with you absolutely.
My opinion on it though:
I really don't understand why the self respect issue only comes in when it's Zoya dealing with Asad. If self respect for Zoya is applied to Asad, then it should also be applied to others around her. How come Zoya didn't speak up when Razia slapped her and humiliated her in front of everyone at the engagement? Does she not remember that, especially now when she is living with them?
Or how about the time Haseena called Zoya bazaron aurat at the Quran Khwani? She didn't speak up then either? She had no problem telling Asad off for commenting on her clothes, but couldn't say anything when Haseena crossed the line. And yet she was pushing Najma and Imran to get married.
I don't think self respect should only be an issue when dealing with men. It goes all around.

As for Zoya staying with Asad, I agree it's not because she doesn't respect her self, but because she loves him immensely. She said it herself, she was very angry with him, but the other truth was that she also can't live without him. But I think it's not just her love for Asad that made her accept everything. I honestly believe that somewhere deep inside she also felt responsible for Nikhat's condition and hence signed the papers. If she truly did not have any guilt, she would have ran away, she's done it many times before. A girl who can run from goons on her first wedding, help another girl run away from her wedding, slap a man, etc, she can surely stand up for herself in a situation like this. She was in love with Asad when the Rajveer dilemma happened but still went against his wishes, and that was something small, so why not this?

Honestly di i am not a very big fan of tragic and larger than life love stories..IMO the greatest stories are not the tragic ones or which have been full of obstacles but real life sweet stories where you deal with real life problems and going all the way and these sacrifices isn't what love is about,no one in real life does that but that doesn't mean they don't love or their love isn't true enough...my favorite couples aren't fictional ones but my family real life couples but yes since this is fiction i guess i can't expect a lot of realism but some once in a while won't hurt and no offence to anyone i don't like any mythological great love stories either

Yes, we do see real life love stories all around but the charm of Yash raj romance still attracts millions of people all over the world even though we know it's not real. Larger than life stories take us into an imaginary world and I agree, not everyone would love it

I like both kinds of stories as long as I can understand the character and can feel their pain/longing for each other

I loved the real life like love story in Rishta.com show and also loved the larger than life love story in veer zaara
