You are one Muslim who has A PARTICULAR idea of how culture should be defined. You don't speak for all Muslims. What's right for you may not be right for others.

Of course. Sure it can't be. But for what all I know, Urdu acts as a mother tongue for some and is one of our most important languages, hence, we must know.

That is exactly my point - It is not the mother tongue here.

Nobody is disregarding the language. Some of the greatest poets and lyricists write in Urdu however the point the TM raised was why Asad an Indian Muslim could not write in Urdu.

Urdu is literally only spoken in a handful of locations in India. It is recognized as a language and can be taught if students choose to learn it however it is not the language of the masses - whether you are Hindu, Muslim, Christian or otherwise. So, I don't see the why it is an issue if the note was written in Hindi.

Urdu is a
Modern Indian Language spoken by a majority of Muslims in the Indian sub-continent(India,Pakistan,Bangladesh, Afghanistan)...a lot of Islamic literature in this region is written in Urdu..so yes I would say Urdu is a part of Indian Muslim culture.

Wow feels great to see people talking about Urdu as I thought its a long lost language (kidding).
I am not really offended with the way they are showing Indian Muslims, maybe some of the Muslim families are like that in India. My few relatives live in India, majority in Lucknow and some in Mumbai and Dehli as well. And majority of them know how to read and write in Urdu. Though this new generation kids speak a language which is more of Hindi-Urdu transition but they know how to read and write in Urdu. Like many of you are saying that Urdu has a same transcript as that of Arabic and as Holy Quran is in Arabic so yeah in my POV everyone must be knowing how to read and write Urdu (at least little bit).

I am too a bit disappointed with that scene, as it didn't made any sense (to me). Zoya is a girl who had spent most of her time in NY, she fluently speaks in Urdu(it might be due to her Aapi and Jiju speaking with her in Urdu at home) but she doesn't know how to read and write in Urdu, which is also understandable(okay wait, during that Quran Khuwani episode they did showed Khan family and Zoya reciting Quran?!?) but the thing which bugs me is that she knows Hindhi. I am not against Indian Muslims learning Hindhi, obviously they live in India and its their official language, but Zoya is shown for the first time visiting India and that too after a longgg time. Maybe she had Hindhi as her second lanuage in school but then why she fluently speaks Urdu? It's all so confusing!!!

see audience is the top fact..we in India always believe in giving our best to the audience..and I dont think writing in Hindi urdu or english for that reason matters because the message is anyway read out by the character! and as it is a hindi show..scriptute in Hindi is normal not urdu!!

Urdu is NOT spoken in Bangladesh. Bengali is their national language. Urdu is not spoken in India except for UP and Hyderabad. So NO all INDIAN muslims do not speak Urdu.

Pakistan and Bangladesh are part of the Sub-continent, it doesn't make them Indian Muslims and Bangladeshi's here on this forum may be highly annoyed with you presuming they speak Urdu.

Bangladeshi Muslims are Bengali and if you knew anything about their culture you would know that they have a lot of famous Bengali Muslim poets and authors. The official language of the country is Bangla.

So, no it is not the language of the masses!

Fine maybe Urdu is not spoken in Bangladesh, bt the rest of the argument remains true. Urdu is spoken, not just in UP...its the State language of J&K and second language in AP and bengal and its also widely spoken in Punjab and Bihar. Last time I checked all these were Indian States.

Post Maker gives a damn about how many likes the Post Maker topic gets or any other comment made by other users. The number of likes won't change Post Makers opinion or the fact.

Besides since it's "India-Forums" I think we all uderstand people givig damn about the culture in the show. 😛 I won't loose my sleep over it. 😉

It's also unprofessionalism on the creatives part.

A least, we got to learn one thing: Gul Khan and other Urdu speakers living in India do not know how to write Urdu. 😆 Their bad luck.

By the way, it amazes me - Instead of changing the fact - not changing but at least, agreeing ... acceptig. Thinking, Haan Yaar, whatever the case, this is wrong. Urdu speakers at least should learn how to write Urdu ... Should show the culture how it's suppose to be.(Have that advantage because it's a fiction show)

But People are busy giving excuses and defending it instead - And since I'm sure all of us are not from the same culture I sense a bit of prejudice in comments.

I could be wrong but that's just me.
