Now that is a post of yours I can completely concur with! I have been very disappointed with Rishabh's performance especially in comparison with his other costars. In fact 4Lions did refer him to acting classes but he was so arrogant that he did not attend them!

My sister, friend and I do impersonations of his "acting." He delivers his lines with a flat tone; there is no inflection or change in his voice. It's as if he is reading his lines without any emotion or passion. Plus you'd think there were no full stops, commas, semi-colons - areas to pause...it's just he's reading it and wants to get it over with.

And we have nicknamed him "Shaggy" and desperately want to take a pair of scissors to his hair etc. He's just terrible but he must come cheap and KSG personally wanted him in the role.

And the new girl Nisha, needs to get a new wardrobe. She's drowning in those clothes and the dupatta does not help either. Her make up needs work as well. And her dialogue delivery is weak and she looks like she is "acting' and not being Tanveer herself. She's not in a character when she delivers her lines - as you say, she is trying too hard.

I see this as a big problem when a lot of people start acting. I used to do this too - it's called "playing it too high" - a nicer way of saying bad acting.

bTw, one of the biggest problems are the hair and make-up department of all shows. Sometimes it is just a hit and a miss. My personal pet peeve are eyebrows...too close together for most actors. They need to start where the eye stars not before then, but most Indians on tv (not so much film) have them start where the ridge of their nose ends...and that's still too close. Need more info, here is a youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YdvoWnTOlU (Go to 1.55) and see what I mean...most Indian tv actresses do not pluck enough.

Of course Alka is fabulous. When an actor shows up on screen, you want to their character NOT the actor. But Alka comes from a family of theater actors and her brother is Varun Badola from PSH and Astiva. In fact you can see the resemblance.

Exactly! I don't really have a problem with Ayaan or Tanveer, but the actors who play them are below the mark. Ayaan COULD have a great screen presence, but right now he looks a little unnatural and monotonous. Plus, I do not understand WHY they are not "cleaning" him up - I mean it's high time he gets a haircut and a shave, because right now he just looks filthy! ..and he could look so much better. Although I do think there is a lot of hope for Rishabh because even though he doesn't have the same screen presence as some of the other actors, he can still make you smile at times, and he does emote well to some extent.

Nisha however, for me was a huge let down. I want to clarify that I do not have a problem with Tanveer (I even made a post about it lol), but if they wanted to create a love triangle, or at least make it believable that Zoya was jealous of Tanveer, they should have casted a girl, who was Karan and Surbhi's equal - in acting, and i'm not intending to sound rude, but realistic, in the way she looks and carries herself too. I think from what I've seen of Nisha, she's quite stiff and her range of expressions (she has gotten a chance to portray a range) are very monotonous, almost the exactly the same. When Asad was hugging her, you could see his reaction, but the scene felt empty because Nisha was not doing anything with her face! Even in the scene where she held his hand..UGH..there was NO chemistry..which bothers me, because there needs to be for this to be believable.

Great post! ..and sorry for such a long reply lol..had to get my frustrations out!

Completely agree with you Victoria , Don't mean to be harsh but I think they should replace rishabh yes his screen presence is fine and he does OK in comic scenes but apart from that he isn't doing any justice to ayaan . If in the future the cv's go the zoya-ayaan way I am afraid its going to backfire big time cause of him ,even after 3 1/2 months of the show ayaan as a character has failed to make any kind of impact on the audience .For how long can we make an excuse for him that he is new so were surubhi and ketki but look how much they have improved especially surbhi .
And about nisha maybe she will improve , but her problem is she has no screen presence she just fades into the background .

@All.

Thank you so much for assuring me that am not nitpicking on the two actors mercilessly. Champa, Enchanted, Laila, Sam, Jojo , Deepti, Meaningful - we all have the same problems with Rishabh and Nisha even though i think at the back of my head that i am being too harsh on Nisha. But since am not seeing a spark, am not hoping for improvement.Still, i might be totally wrong about her. Lets see.

For those who asked, i am from the entertainment line but not films.

Thanks for not taking my post as a bashing essay. I have no issues with Rishabh and Nisha and i had no intentions of comparing them with the rest of the cast ensemble. The thing is that the co-act suffers. Its like, for the first time i felt that Karan had no chemistry with a woman ( Nisha). And we are talking about Karan here who is said to be able to romance even a stone. And women from Shilpa to Jennifer to Surbhi are not stones. Co-Act is very very important.

I wouldn't call Karan and Surbhi flawless actors Vicky.
Karan's physicality I believe is his biggest aide in potraying the character of Asad. Though in certain emotional scenes he's very rigid. Barun Sobti's potrayal of the simmering Arnav Raizada should be considered the finest in the category of 'angry young man' in the recent times(Only praising his acting not the character of Arnav).
As for Surbhi, in the last few episodes her spontenity and comic timing has surprised me.
She was just so natural in the rain dance episode.

Unfortunately she's not consistent. The unexpected jolts given to her character by the creatives adds to this inconsistency.

But who really watches 'Qubool Hai' to scruitinize when and where are Karan and Surbhi falling short of conviction.
How does it matter if they don't set the screen ablaze like Arnav and Khushi. They own their characters and even without perfection have given us moments to remember. Without Asad and Zoya's imperfect yet desirable camaraderie 'Qubool Hai' would simply fallen flat!

As for Nisha, her misfortune is that she has landed up in a good show but a bad character.
Tanveer's character sketch seems to be the weakest of the lot.
We'll know in the future episodes whether or not she has the talent to pull off a character like Tanveer.
