Monalisa Bhosle and her husband Farman Khan have sought help after facing backlash and alleged threats following their recent interfaith marriage. What began as a widely discussed love story has now taken a serious turn, with the couple claiming they are receiving death threats.

The issue has drawn attention due to the marriage being labelled as “love jihad” by certain groups. In response, Monalisa shared a video along with a written appeal addressed to the media, the Chief Minister and the Commissioner, urging authorities to intervene and ensure their safety.

In the video, both Monalisa and Farman can be seen requesting support. “Mai ye video ek letter ke sath sabhi ko mail kar rahi hoon to please hamare madad karo,” she said. She further highlighted the gravity of the situation, adding, “Hame khuleaam marne ki kaatne ki dhamki di ja rahi hai.”

The couple stated that they have already approached local authorities and are seeking protection in view of the threats. Their appeal has since circulated widely on social media, drawing mixed reactions from users.

Earlier, after their wedding, the couple had spoken about the support they received. Monalisa had said, “The Kerala government supported us a lot. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. And we believe in all religions. For me, all religions are the same”.

Farman also reflected on the scale of the ceremony, stating, “We did not expect that we would have such a big wedding. We thought that only 2-4 people would attend the wedding. But there were a lot of people. The minister blessed us. The education minister came here. The education minister”.

The wedding took place on March 11, 2026, at a temple in Kerala and drew significant public attention. Monalisa had earlier gained recognition during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 after videos of her selling rudraksha garlands went viral online.

Reports suggest that the two met while working on a film project and developed a relationship over time. Despite objections from her family, Monalisa approached the police seeking protection and asserted her right to choose her partner as an adult.
