Is it just my microscopic whining or do I have a point in actuality?
Rishabh is an extremely good-looking guy if i get him a hair stylist imported from Milan . He has amazing soulful eyes and he is very very photogenic. But when it comes to screen presence , holding a scene together by a nuanced measured performance , the boy continues to falter - even when QH is touching a 100. His dialogue delivery , pronunciation of Hindi/Urdu at certain points suffers and his performance's degree depends on the artist who is with him - be it Shabnam, Karan or even Humeira ( the pretty lass' name please?). Humeira has come a long way from her screechy awkward days and i love the torque of her performance as a spurned yet honourable woman.
Rishabh has potential but that is that. He is not moving beyond this rawness. He has an excellent face that can be both aggressive and vulnerable but he is yet to inch towards the craft of using it to his advantage.
I feel the same drawback in Nisha. Very pretty, delicate and elite looking . But again, in the layer of veiling Tanveer under the salwaar-kameez Tehzeeb, the dialogue delivery and the mannerisms are coming across as too plastic. Its like Tehzeeb is being forced down her throat and its not natural. The portrayal of her as the prim-propah Muslim girl is not coming as natural, like it comes to Archana as Nikhat.
My point is not to bash Rishabh and Nisha, What I mean is that while Rishabh needs to move to the next level of performance , Nisha needs to work on looking and sounding convincing as Tanveer. I am not very sure about Nisha yet but Rishabh seriously has potential if he works towards it. And when you are acting with flawless actors like Karan, Surbhi , Shalini , Shabnam and stalwarts like Alka , the loopholes do a limelight fashion parade.
I think 4Lions needs to concentrate on Rishabh and Nisha because they are pivotal in the story, epecially Rishabh. Workshops and rehearsals are needed for them, even though i know they shoot 24x7.
Many people might think am sealing Nisha too early. Maybe. If she gets the hang of Tanveer, maybe we will see her improve by leaps and bounds but seeing Rishabh's flat graph , i would not bet too much on that.
Besides, screen presence is one thing that the camera tells you the moment we go lights, camera , start sound, action. While Rishabh still holds because of an interesting face and the dirtbike character of Ayaan, Nisha seems to be paling on the screen.
Look at Alkaa Kaushal when she enters the scene as Razia. THAT is what screen presence is all about.
