So these fan girls apparently love a man who slaps them and pushes on the wall.
Someone must educate these girls.
I am afraid how many boys will now think that it is OK to slap a girl because she is at fault.
Gone are the days when girls used to be respected.
I am surprised that if Zoya is treated like this now, what happens when she is Asad's wife.

I really liked the letter you wrote. I think it's a step in the right direction. So, I haven't read all 30 pages of this discussion, but I skimmed a few pages here and there. I didn't see any mention of this, so I thought I'd link you. The BCCC is having a session to sensitize creative teams on TV channels on the depiction of women on TV.

It's pretty sad that creative teams need to be sensitized. After all, aren't artistes supposed to be the most sensitive to upheavals in society? This is a good time to have this debate, when the country has finally woken up to the way women are mistreated/abused in India. The point in the article about the shows pretending to create awareness in society through their depiction of violence against women is particularly well taken. It's almost like they pick an issue, say they'll make a show out of it, and then proceed to depict women undergoing numerous sufferings before she finally gets things right in her life. What's worse, things going well for her usually mean she's finally hitched to a good guy.

For those who say people's behaviors are not influenced by what comes on TV, I say your argument is not just flawed, it is outright wrong. Of course they are. See this article from a year ago.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. I could probably find you 100 more if I had the time and the inclination. 😊

Finally, this is not about Qubool Hai. It really isn't. QH was just the vehicle. Its about every show that showcases this kind of behavior.

Kudos on writing the letter!

Maxine - she came, she saw, she conquered. 👏

@bold

I've been trying to make that point for the last 30 pages.

But, why are people making VM's then? What does this say about the person's mental state/judgement?

People work so hard to fight the extinction of animals and eradicating diseases/viruses...why don't we start trying to kill/eliminate any sort of physical abuse? be in on men or women.

Because its not in real life. You are fighting against reel life and reel life does not necessarily represent real life. Is India really as modern as bollywood movies nowadays where you see girls in bikinis and having boyfriends and live in relationships.
And either way...abuse was what happened in Saubhagyavati Bhava. This was a spur of the moment reaction where a son saw his mother lying in the hospital bed...possibly dying and he reacted in anger. He saw the woman who he thought was responsible and hit her. It could have been a man and it wouldnt have mattered. Heck, I would have done the same thing. I would have hit that person as hard as I could because your rational mind stops working when you see your mother possibly dying. You lash out...you hit the person who might be responsible for what happened.

Thanks for writing! When I read some posts here, I wonder if we're getting too worked up for no need.
Thanks for sharing the links, will check them out.

You're right, it's not about QH. I only watch this show now. And even when I voice my thoughts here, people doubt my loyalty and sincerity!

Imagine if I went to another forum and tried to speak up, they'd probably kill me! 😆
