Guys I understand you didnt like the slap and the reinforcement of it in yesterday's epi with mitwa in the background...making it romantic. But its just a tv show. Calm down. No intelligent human being will learn life lessons from tv shows...especially indian tv shows. Crazy fangirls are probably the only ones taking shows very seriously. And they dont show this stuff expecting us to learn any lessons. Its all about entertainment as RK says (I'm watching Madhubala right now, thus I recalled it.)
I understand the outrage trust me. Back when IPK was coming on...and Arnav was torturing Khushi after the blackmailed wedding. My friends and I were outraged. So much so that we stopped watching it after a while...permanently that too because I simply could not accept a hero who does all this and still doesnt redeem himself. It ruined the way I looked at Arnav and Khushi after that happened. I saw a heartless bas***d in Arnav and a stupid moron in Khushi.

That was a big deal...waht Arnav did..the mental torture and anguish, the deception of trust. And after doing all this...he never even apologized. There was no redemption track and she just forgave him without even one sorry. Atleast Asad apologized and Zoya forgave him because I think she felt a bit responsible at that time (she thought if she had never brought mariyam home then all this wouldnt have happened...well we now now mariyam's presence had nothing to do with this).
Compared to Arnav what Asad did isnt even half as bad. I would take a slap anyday over the mental torture Arnav gave (who somehow girls are in love with)...he shouldnt have hit her that hard yes, but if I had written a letter it would be in regard to what happened in IPK.

I watched IPK and found his actions towards her disgusting. Needless to say, I wasn't even fond of the girl either. In fact why did I even watch the show?

Point is, during that time there was numerous debates about the violence. How can you be so sure that she was not a part of the debate and going against the male leads behaviour?

Ahem.

RC-IPK-ASR

Ahem.

Hey Nisha,
Completely understand how you felt. I couldn't understand it either, and worse, when people said wait, he will redeem himself. He will apologise... And it never happened.

I made the mistake of not speaking up enough in the IPK forum, was a silent reader and then just gave up.

Regarding parents beating their children:
Bias warning :
It's normal for brown parents to beat their children, I was beat as a child like many others...from my parents point of view it was to set me straight and teach me things (not that it did me any good) 🤪 but when a white parent beats their child it's different, again, from my point of view...their perspective on raising a child is different. Example : kids are grounded and their toys are confiscated in a white household-

My dad used to to let his work tension out on my sisters and I- which is not cool! There's no use kicking the dog.

...and then I realized not all brown kids are beat to set them straight, some are just too crazy and abuse for no reason.

and I believe in second chances, take Rihanna and Chris Brown for example,
he beat the shit out of Rihanna (so bad that she forgot her name 😆 So SORRY, but I just HAD to) ...they took a break and now they're back together!
Sure, lots of ppl are against it but just because Breezy did something horrible...does it make him unworthy of women?

Excuse me for the unconnected thoughts...that's cause I realized a few things as I typed.

I just learned something, up until now I thought it was okay for parents to beat their kids but even that is not okay. Abusing of all sorts need to be stopped. My parents may have beat me in order to raise a good child (pssch) but there are many wackos abusing their children for no good reason.

It's not okay for kids to be beat - for good or bad,.
Stopping one (beating to "fix" ) could help stop the wackos.

Likewise, stopping "just a slap" could maybe prevent other women from ending up like Rihanna.
But, I think "bitch-slapping" should be stopped as well - a lot of this happens in English shows, recently Suits! 😆 beautiful slap though! 😛

NO I never felt anything like that while watching that scene. It was NOT Romanticized. I feel it's just in us viewers mind hence we feel that way. I think many of us mistook that scene that way since Asad and Zoya are a couple( in our mind and in future)and we expect them to have eye lock and tender moments every time they are together. Ofcourse those who are not comfortable with Dark love stories might feel offended in that scene.
