Popular media ought to be more socially responsible, especially when they carry the power to shape and influence impressionable minds - young, old and ignorant. There is only so much one can take and one can market under the guise of entertainment. As audiences, all we have really are the choices we make. I'm glad some of us have chosen to take a decisive stand.

Thank you Aalia. You were definitely one of the major team players (recognize some of your posts in the letter 😉). The letter is a way for us to express our grievance and disappointment and to hold the PH accountable for the damage done...just today I read another fan fiction where the writer has Zoya apologize to Asad for making him slap her. It is not the first one I have read...in it the character wrestles in placing blame on herself and even apologizes to Asad for being at the wrong place and the wrong time and spends an exorbitant amount of time expressing her innocence. That should not be happening.

Thank you for the compliment...it was a team effort so I don't take credit - these are not all my words. Probably not. But the other journalists will take note. I believe that if more people spoke up then something could happen. If one PH realizes the huge impact they can have in affecting change, it might inspire them to do some good as well as make a good profit. I don't see how the two cannot be done together.

You know, that type of attitude is uncalled for but your comment pulled this up to the front page so an attention is good attention 😆

I'm truly flattered my words are being put to such good use 😳 I don't even go near the fan-fictions. Having people describe the regressive content in them is enough Whatever comes of this, at the least we've let certain factions know that we simply do not vent out via posts, that we mean it enough to initiate a change, however small. And hopefully the powers-that-be will be alerted to the fact that their a certain part of their audience is not simply content to switch channels anymore.

Good work. We tried and that's what counts. Hopefully this does make Phs more aware about the kind of scenes they portray.

I am not sure, but I think at least people here might see that we are not full of hot air and we did take action and we tried to do something positive. We want best for 4Lions but we also want best for women too. If you note, we do not want want any fines or punishment given - just more education and awareness.

TV soaps need to stop justifying and even worse romanticizing violence against women. Kudos to you all for taking action and drafting such a well articulated letter. May this small seed bring about big changes !

Thank you for the compliment...I did not do this alone - it was done with the support of other members of the forum. It could not have happened any other way. This was never a one person effort. Team work played a huge part.

Some fan fiction is actually pretty good - I find them to be even better than the show themselves. I have some favorites and love their writing..I even like their characterization of Asad and Zoya better and I am amazed at some of the amazing wit for these amateur writers. Of course there are only a few favorites that I have...you are right - making changes is not about simply switching a channel...

Thank you for your well wishes...we were fully prepared that someone would read this and hit the delete button but may be someone might read this and think...and that it has gone out to some prominent Indian journalists (I have to thank two very good friends for the help there) and will circulate among Asian Journalists in the US...at least it will get some attention.
