in car-
pia-"toh pehle kaha jana hai??"
alekh looked at first address..
alekh-"mr.yash singhania..."
pia-"ohhh yeh to rj ke bade bhai hai.rj ka ghar mujhe pata hai.."
alekh-"okkk...(hesistant)uumm pia tum rj ko kab se jaanti ho(asked normally while
going through cards).."
pia(casually)-"yahi pichle 2 years se jab se college aayi hu...(looks at alekh)
kyu????"
alekh(shrugs)-"bas aise hi...tum log kaafi acche dost ho,right??'
pia(looks at him narrowly)-"tumne CID kab se join kar liya???(seeing him glaring)
okkk fine...nahi..hum acche dost nahi hai..bas uski aur meri family ek dusre
ko jante hai toh...thodhi casual baate ho jaati hai...aur...hum couple nahi hai!!!(
alekh looked at her in surprised)"
alekh-"mene issa kab pucha???(seeing pia smirking at him)haan woh misha keh rahi thi..
..(defending) par mujhe yakeen nahi tha..toh isliye sure hona chahta tha..woh
kal jo hamari beech baat hui aur jaise tum mere sath behave karti ho...matlab
itni sweetly,friendly(pia smile at this)lekin auro ke samne bilkul ulta.."
pia(smile)-"woh sab mere best friend nahi hai...sirf mere best friend he janta
hai asli pia ko...yaha tak ke mere parents bhi nahi.."
alekh smile at her answer...
alekh-"toh me tumhara best friend hoon??'
pia-"koi shak??"
alekh-"nahi..."
and both smile at each other..
pia-"lo hum aagaye..'
and than both went out of car...
within an hour,all cards were distributed except one...
alekh-"finally last...(frowning)mr.arnab doberial"
pia(confused)-"doberial...kya ye sir se any how related hai???u know sir ka sir-name
aur inka same hai aur sir pehle ise sheher mein rehte the toh may be koi relative?????..."
alekh-"jaha tak mujhe pata hai..nahi..."
pia-"ho sakta hai yeh koi aur doberial ho..jaruri toh nahi sare doberial sir ke
relative ho???"
alekh nodded and told her address of doberial...
after reaching ..they went out of car...
at door,they rang at bell,a servent open the door..
servent-"yes!!!.."
pia-"woh hum st.xavier college se aaye hai..hume mr.doberial se milna tha.."
servent-"sir toh nahi hai..par madam hai..aap aayiye,me bulata hu.."
both nodded and sat in drawing room..
after a min,a lady in her early 40's came down..
alekh-pia greeted her..
pia-"aunty hum st.xavier college se aaye hai.woh hamare college mein aaj
event hai toh..yeh invitation dene aaye the.."
alekh handed over it..
madhu(after reading)-"basketball match??? beta hum waha kya karege??"
pia-"are aunty,shimla ke sare high-profile and known families ko invite kiya gaya
hai...aur match ke baad ek surprise bhi hai."
madhu-"surprise???"
pia-"haan woh..hamare he college ke passout student jo ki national aur
international basketball champion reh chuke hai aur aab woh hamare teacher
hai toh unke aur sports captain ke beech friendly match bhi hai..."
madhu-"ohhh...thik hai..waise us teacher ka naam kya hai??"
alekh-"abhay riachand doberial..."
madhu was shocked...alekh notices it and was confused but thought to see it later..
alekh-"accha aunty hum chalte hai...aap jarur ayiyega!!!"
both greeted her and went from there...
madhu was so lost in the name that she didn't acknowlegde their leave...she just
kept staring at the card and tears were flowing freely...
madhu-"abhay...!!!..i knew u would come back..i knew..arnab(rubs her tears)arnab
ko batati hu..woh..woh kitne khush ho jayege..hum.humara beta wapas a gaya..."
and rushes to call arnab...
on the other side-
abhay was seated in restaurant and sipping his coffee...
voice(standing behind abhay)-"tum aur tumhari coffee...(walking upto him
and sat in front of him)abhay!!..kabhi kuch aur bhi try kar liya karo.."
abhay-"chobe!!!!(bunty chobe of lrl) kaam ki baat kare...kuch pata chala???."
chobe-"haan!!..woh log delhi cross kar chuke hai..itni tight security
ke bawajud... humare admi unka picha kar rahi hai.lekin abhay tumne last
moment pe unhe pakad ne mana kyu kiya..hum unhe delhi me hi pakad..aur tumne higher
authorities ko kese manaye??"
abhay(seriously)-"woh isliye kyuki mujhe dekhna tha ki woh log delhi cross
kar pate hai ya nahi...aur jaise ke tum bata rahe ho usse ek baat
clear hai koi insider ya koi powerful person hai jo unke help kar raha hai..
.nahi toh woh log delhi cross nahi kar sakte...aur rahi baat manane ki toh(smirk)
its my little secret!!!(chobe frown)so any further progress...
sir ne bataya aage kya karna hai??"
chobe-"yes!!...wo log jald he shimla aane wale hai ya kahu ki a chuke hai...
tumhara yaha pehle aana bahut he fayedemand raha.(pulling out a packet from his
jacket)abhay,sir ne yeh bhej waya hai...issme naya sim,ek pendrive aur mission ke
kuch details hai...jis taraha se mission ke progress chal rahi hai..dushman
bahut jald pakda jayega...(jokingly)phil haal ke liye champion sahaab ap apna
basketball match khele!!!!!"
abhay(avoiding his last line and picking up packet)-"thik hai me aab chalta hu.."
chobe nodded and abhay left from there...
by the time he left,it was already evening...abhay walks down his way back to
campus...
he looked at his watch,it was already 6:30p.m...
he was walking in a lane which was all quite,not a single person was around...
abhay was lost in his thoughts when he felt someone presence behind him..
abhay looked behind from corner of his eyes and found one guy following him..
abhay walked ahead and turned left...
when that guy too turned,but he found no one...he walked ahead but no one was around..
suddenly abhay came behind him and cornered him,grabing him from his collar..
abhay-"who are u??"
no response,abhay punched him on his stomach..he groaned ..
abhay(shout)-"who sent u??"
again same scenario..
abhay punched in him again two-three times but he won't speak
finally after 4-5 blows,the guy was unconsience..
abhay dialed a number..
abhay(huffing)-"chobe...come fast!!!"(and give him his location)
after a minute,chobe came and found abhay and a guy laying on road..
chobe-"abhay!!!yeh..."
abhay-"baad me chobe..phil haal isse le jayo isse pehle koi
dekh le...me kaal aata hu!!!!"
nodding,chobe went to guy and carried him and went from there...
abhay looked around and then walked from there...
far away from a window of building,someone saw whole incident through his binoculus
person-"hmmm nice..long time abhay!! last time we meet was 5 years ago. seems like
u have changed a lot abhay!!!impressive..it would be fun now other like previous time.."
at college-
here event was already going on...it was 7p.m. and match was at its end
with st.xavier 20 goals and excel 15 goals...
everyone was shouting,cheering,enjoying the match..being captain of team also,
rj was also playing,shooting maximum goals...
everyone was hooting RJ!!!RJ!!RJ!!...
it was clear st.xavier will win...but some were sitting anxiously...
yudi-"dude,sir kaha hai???match khatam hone wala hai aur unka kuch
ata-pata nahi..."
sameer-"yudi,relax..sir ate hi honge...!!!"
misha-"lekin kab??"
ruhi-"kahin wo back out to nahi kar rahe??"
misha-"ohh shut up!!!"
pia-"alekh!!! sir ko call kar"
alekh-'wahi toh kar raha hu...unreachable a raha hai..'
pia-"tumhe bataya kaha jaa rahe hai ya kab tak a jayege??"
alekh-"canteen me mile the tab kaha tha ke kahi jana hai aur itna keh ke chale
gaye...mujhe laga 6p.m. tak a jayege..par..???"
yudi-"ab kya hoga??.."
sameer-"wait karo!!!'
all were tensed and alekh was continously trying to reach abhay but in vain...
soon match was over with 22-17 and st.xavier won...
everyone cheered and clapped for winning team..
finally award ceremony took place,rj winning best player trophy...
rj was waving to everyone...and than...
announcer-"so...that was very exciting match..congratulation st.xavier and their
captian ranvijay singhania for winning...i hope u all enjoyed and we thanked
our organizers for their efforts in making this event successful and a special
thanks to all our special guests to come at such a short notice and last but not
the least our audience..."
all clapped together...
announcer-"hold on guys...it is still not over..we have a surprise for u
all..a person who was not only a student of this college but also a
national aur international basketball champion.he was best in his college days,
won many awards,medals and today after 6 years,he is back as a teacher of his own
college and we all are glad to have him back with us...and just to encourage
our all basketball players,giving him piece of him of what he really is??
yes!! guys he is none other than abhay riachand doberial!!!!...(all clapped)
he is gonna play today...(all hooted)yes!!! he would have one-on-one friendly
match with our own ranvijay!!!!!...so everyone just wait for a while to have a blast of night..."
everyone cheered...
among the audience...
madhu(had tears in her eyes)-"i told u he would be back..he won't leave..he is still our son,arnab"
arnab(hold her hand,smile)-"yes!!!he is our son.."
madhu-"i can't wait to see him..when he will come.and this time i won't leave
him for a second.."
arnab-"its been 6 months now,madhu..and all this seems like a dream(madhu smile) did u heard..he has our name with him...doberial!!!!(madhu nodded)and i m happy he achieved so much in his life...i m proud of him..."
both smile at each other and looked at court for a glimpse of their son...
after break...
announcer-"so everyone excited!!!!!!!!!!!(all cheered)wow!!so now not holding for anylonger..we wil start our match...so i request abhay sir and ranvijay to assemble in court ..."
all clapped...and within a min,ranvijay entered the court waving at
everyone...
all looked at entrance for abhay to enter but he doesn't...
pia-"alekh!!!!..."
alekh-"me dekta hu..."
and went from there...sameer and yudi also followed him...
announcer again called for abhay but no response...
everyone was whispering among them and were confused...
madhu-"where is he??did he again left??"
arnab-"relax,madhu!!!he will come.."
after minutes of serach,alekh-sameer-yudi came back dissapointed...
pia-"where would sir go???"
rj came to group...
rj(angryly)-"where is he??"
sameer-"don't know"
rj-"listen!!! i m..."
rj was interrupted by the hooting of audiance and all turned towards entrance to see abhay entering in black track suit...
all were relax and heaved a sign of relief...
madhu-arnab just kept staring at him...
he came to announcer and they have a word and abhay walks to the court...
announcer-"sorry for the delay...so now lets begin with it..."
rj too came and both were in center of court,abhay on right and rj on left side of court...referee told them rule...
both agreed..
rj-"finally!!!get ready to lose.."
abhay looked at him...
and with the hooter,game start...
rj catches the ball first and dribbled to right side of court...abhay followed him and tried to block him...
all were cheering and shouting RJ!!!RJ!!!ABHAY!!!ABHAY!!!!...
and finally rj did the first basket...
some cheered while other groaned...
now abhay had the ball and he dribbled to left of court,rj followed him and blocked him and snatches ball from abhay and head to right...and again basket...
rj-2 and abhay-0...
yudi(shouted)-"what the hell!!!'
ruhi-"sir buck up!!!!! u can win!!!..."
alekh-"akhir ho kya raha hai???"
pia-"just wait!!!its not over yet"
and with time games continues with rj ahead of abhay by 4 goals..
and score 4-0...now it was 2min left before the half time..
some were happy,excited enjoying match while other were shocked,confused with
the turn of game... even principal was also shocked..he knew how abhay plays and he can bet this is not the real abhay,the champion!!!...confused,he got up from his seat and went towards the group..on reaching...
principal-"alekh!! whats wrong with abhay??"
alekh-"i don't know sir??"
principal(tensed)-"its all wrong.!!!(all looked at him confused)i have seen him
played before...the person right now on court is not abhay,the basketball champ!!
(pointing at court towards abhay)he isn't even 1% if what he was like 6 years back.. (smiles and remembering)when that champ would play,it was all like a magic. the way he handle ball,played around with it..it seems like ball is moving with him like a his shadow...every goal he make,he would kiss his ball(laughs)i know its funny but he was abhay!!!..basketball was his life,his best friend.even when he had to share any thing or any secret,he would talk to his favorite ball(all looks at him in amazement)..."
alekh-"apko kisse pata itna kuch bhai ke bare me.."
principal(smile)-"because 6 years back,it was me..who bought him here..in
this college..on scholarship..he was orphan and i met him accidently
in mumbai,where i saw him playing basketball with some guys in rain...the way he played spellbounded me and i couldn't stop myself to talk him,to
know him .his personality,enthusiasism,passion in him,compelled me to
offer him this proposal of coming here ,starting a new life and all that..
as a result within a week or two he was here in shimla,in my college..."
alekh was shocked to the core..he now understood why abhay offered him to come here..
alekh was speechless and was lost in thoughts..
all were just too stunned with this new info that it took them some min
to process it...
and finally all were brought back to present with the hooter of half time
indicating rj ahead by 3 basket score 4-1...
in court-
rj(panting)-"what happened,sir???(looks at score board)4-1!!tsk!!tsk!!poor u!! losing from a student..what a shame...(abhay kept on looking at him)i told
u that i would take my revenge..i would prove that u r nothing and i m best.
when u will lose,the insult,foul comments u would receive,than i will be satisfied.."
and walks ahead but remember something and came back to him and whisper in his ears..
rj(fake pity)-"i feel so sorry for ur gaurdain.i mean on principal that he had
to see this day...he must be feeling sorry for wasting so much time,energy,
money on u(abhay turned to him)don't look shock!!!...i have done my homework!!,sir!!! u must have known that before facing an enemy u must know him inside out so while coming for today...i found out everything about u...everything!!!! so watch out..!!!this is just ur first step towards doom!!there is whole package for u!!!!...for now enjoy ur loss!!!champion!!!!"
and rj walks from there leaving behind abhay staring at rj's retreating
form...
