chapter 7-
alekh and the group reached abhay in court...
yudi-"sir,what r u doing??"
ruhi-"u have to win,sir..please"
seeing abhay lost in thoughts...
alekh(keeping hand on his shoulder)-"bhai...??"
this brings back abhay..
abhay-"huh..alekh..haan bolo.."
alekh-"r u ok?? yeh app kya kar rahe the??"
abhay(looking at everyone)-i m fine..i.i have to go..bye.."
and walks out from there..
sameer-"what happen to him...??"
pia-"weird..."
alekh-'uska toh pata nahi par kuch baat toh hai.."
yudi-"i hope nothing is too bad..."
in locker room-
abhay sat on bench...
principal-"abhay.."
abhay turns and stands..
abhay-"sir.."
principal-"can i have a word with u...only 2 min"
abhay-"no..noo..sir,please.."
both sat on bench..
principal-"what r u doing?? or should i say why r u doing this???(abhay
looks other side)i have known u for years and i know there is always a reason
behind ur every doing though i may not know them but i have full confidence
that u won't do anything wrong..i know for last 6 years we were not in touch
and something has happened which has caused such a drastic change in u and i m not asking u also..(abhay looks at him,principal smiles)i know u would tell me some day if not today.(abhay looks down)but i know one thing can never change in u and that is ur passion,fire in ur eyes...(abhay looks at him)and today it was missing!!!and that was not u.not the same abhay whom i first saw in mumbai,whom i brought here,in this college!!!...im afraid to lose that abhay.."
principal stands and walks from there leaving a thoughtful abhay behind...
abhay dials a number in his mobile..."calling home"
abhay-"hello...pari.."
in court-
half time was over and everyone was very surprised with turn of match...
rj and abhay entered the court..
rj smirks looking at abhay...
suddenly rain started...all ran under the shelter...but abhay and rj kept standing
and looking at each other...
rj-"now it will be a real game!!!!what say,SIR???"
abhay looks at principal and smiles and nodded his head in yes and than looks at
rj..
abhay(smirks)-"of course"
principal smiles back at abhay and sign in relief that he was able to convince
him...alekh walks upto him..
alekh-"thank u sir!!ek app he the jo bhai ko manaa sakte the..."
principal-"its alright alekh,abhay is like my son..."
abhay looks up in the sky,closes his eyes and feels it...
abhay(to himself)-"this is for u..come back please.i miss u and i love u..."
abhay opens his eyes,looks at rj and remove his jacket...now he was in his black track pants and vest...
all girls were gapping at him...
ruhi just fainted but yudi held her and woke her up..
pia was left agast,with her jaw dropped...
ruhi-"hayyeee..look at his body...mera salman!!!...hey...look at his shoulder
he has a tattoo...of..."
yudi-" of bat...seriously weird"
ruhi-"not weird..its cool.."
pia-"mystrious.."
sameer-"girls,concentrate on game..!!!"
in court-
abhay-"ready..??"
rj-"shoot"
and soon the game begins..but this time it ws a different scene...
abhay dribbled the ball towards left of court and basket!!!!.
all cheered for abhay!!!!
abhay looks at rj who was fuming...
abhay-"u don't know me!!not the real abhay!!!..no one could know him..no one!!!"
and passes the ball to rj...
rj dribbled the ball but soon abhay snatches it and again dribbled and basket!!
in last 10min abhay scored 9 basket which shocked him to the core..
.soon the game was at score 4-10!!!!.rj was far behind abhay..
it was impossible for rj to snatch the ball from abhay let alone basket!!!..
everyone was surprised,amazed,cheering,hooting...
arnab-madhu were speechless...they were happy for him and just wished for
game to get over and they could talk to him...
pia and group were just gaping at abhay...
alekh smiles and had a very determined look on his face..it seems like he was
planning something...
soon hooter buzz indicating match over with abhay's basket and score was 11-4 and clearly winner was
abhay!!!!!...
all students ran in court...
yudi,sameer and alekh lifts him up...others surrounding him and cheering him.
rj walks from there fuming with anger...
abhay smiles at them..then he looks at principal who shows thumb up,abhay nodded..
abhay-"guys..guys...thank u so much..now please put me down before i fall.."
alekh(seriously)-"i won't let u fall ever,bhai..."
sameer-"correction..we."
yudi-"yes sir!!!,u are our hero.we won't let u fall.."
abhay(looks at them)-"thanku..."
pia-"no need sir...and congratulations...now we want party and u can't escape
that!!! what say guys!!!!!party??"
ruhi-"yehh party!!!.."
all-"party!!! party!!"
abhay-'ok fine...pu..."
abhay suddenly stops and indicate to boys to put him down...
boys put him down..and abhay walks ahead living behind all students celebrating and cheering for him...
abhay-"app...???"
madhu-"abhay!!! tum kaha chale gaye the??tumhe..."
abhay(cut her off)-"not here...come with me.."
arnab-madhu looks at him surprised but follows him...
and they move out of court...
alekh-"bhai..."
abhay turns and found alekh and pia coming to him..
madhu-arnab looks at alekh-abhay...
abhay-"alekh,baad me..."
pia-"but sir,party!!!"
abhay-"i will be back in hour...till than both of u take care of arrangement..okk"
alekh-pia looks at arnab-madhu and greeted them..
pia-"i hope appko ajj ka event acha laga.."
madhu(looks at abhay)-"bahut!!!.(to pia)thank u for inviting us"
alekh-"its okk..(to abhay)where are u going??"
abhay-"i m just accompanying them till their car..okk(to arnab-madhu)lets go
mr and mrs. doberial.."
arnab-madhu looks at abhay and madhu had tears...
and soon all three leave..
alekh looks at their retreating form...
alekh-"kuch toh locha hai!!!!"
pia-"kya??"
alekh-"nahi kuch nahi..chal..."
in parking lot-
abhay(sternly)-"what were u doing here??"
arnab-"what u mean??we came to see u??last time in hospital,u just left..we
were so worried for u..u didn't even meet us before leaving.u know we care for u so much..u are like our son..we thought after discharge u would live with us.."
madhu(holding his hand)-"didn't u miss us..miss me..i m ur mother.."
abhay(removing his hand)-"no..u r not my mother(closes his eyes and turns)u
can never be..."
madhu stared at his back...
arnab(turns him)-"what??what r u saying??she is not ur mother??i m not ur father??we r not ur parents?? than why u added our name with u??why r u abhay riachand doberial??not abhay riachand??"
abhay looks other side..
arnab(shouts)-"speak??tell me why??for last 6 months we were searching for u hoping to see u,talk to u...for last 6 months,madhu was ill,not a day went when she wouldn't think about u and pray to god...6 months we..."
abhay(shouts)-"yes!! 6 months!!!...6 months before i left u two...and till today didn't meet u,contact u,talk to u...don't u get it!!!..i DON'T WANT!!!!"
arnab-madhu stare at him..
abhay-"yes!! u heard right!! i didn't want u.i never wanted,,not 6 months back
and not now..i don't want to be part of ur family...i added ur name becoz u save me,hospitalized me,treated me,cared for me...its just a pay back!!!..."
all were silent...
abhay-"i think now i answered all ur questions...u can go now..its getting
late..i hope we will not see each other again..thank u for everything u did for me
and sorry too..."
and walks from there leaving behind shattered arnab-madhu...
in locker room-
under shower,abhay stands closing his eyes...
abhay(to himself)-"i m sorry!!!i m really sorry..u can never be my mother becoz i don't deserve u..i m not good for u.i couldn't be ur son even if i wanted!! please forgive me!!!.."
after the shower abhay walks out and dress himself...ready for party!!!
the party was held in common room of college..everyone was present there...students,other teachers,principal...
as abhay entered ,everyone greeted him...he also cut the cake to celebrate the victory..
soon the party was on its full swin..
abhay sat at corner with other teachers and looked around the room...and after sometimes
leaves from there...
in quater-
abhay sat in balcony and was staring at clear sky...
soon his phone rang...
abhay looked the number..
abhay-"ha bolo!!!...ok!!! keep and eye in him and try to make him speak to u..i will be there tommorrow by evening and yes!! there is change in plan!!! i will inform u tommorrow...bye!!!"
and put the phone down and walks back to his room and lie on his bed.he takes his mobile and opens a photo and stare at it and caressing.he was lost in momeries and a lone tears escape from corner of his eye...
and soon he felt fast asleep due to exhaustion and tiresome...
after half and hour,alekh entered the quater and noticed the quietness of place.he looked around but didn't find abhay anywhere..
finally he entered abhay room and found him asleep ...alekh stare at his sleeping and walks upto him,looks at him and covers hin properly with blanket...and in the process he notice mobile clutched in his hand..
curiously alekh tried to take it but abhay had held it very tightly..so decided to leave it as he doesn't want to disturb his sleep...
and finally walks out of room closing door behind him...
alekh walks to living room to prepare his bed on sofa...
after lying on sofa,alekh kept staring at ceiling and was lost in thought...
he was still thinking of what principal told him about abhay and how familiar was his story...
alekh(to himself)-"i promise u bhai,i will be like u..what u did for me i will never forget."
and soon fall asleep...
in bedroom-
abhay was sleeping and lost his old happy,cheerful,carefree memories where there was not hardship,tension,problem his life..he had everything in his life...principal who was a father like figure
from him,his friends,his basket ball,his college life,his love of life...!!!!!!!!
flashback-
7 years ago-
in st.Xavier college-
in classroom-
teacher was teaching in class and was writing something on board...some students was really listening to teacher,some were just chating while few were snoring ...
suddenly someone peep in the class from window and look around the class...
finally he saw someone and throw a paper ball to her...
the girl looks at paper ball and looked at its source of coming and the person wave at her and
call her out but she glare at him angrily and turns her face...
sighing,the person jumps inside classroom through window quietly..everyone look at him..
he indicated them to keep quite with putting his finger on lips and than walks upto the girl and sat beside her...
girl avoid him and concentrate in book...the person snatch the book from her...
girl(furiously)-"what???"
person-"i wanna talk to u!!!"
girl-"not interested"
and tries to get her book back..
girl-"give it to me..sir will see us!!!"
person-"as if i care!!!!"
girl-"fine"
and turns to look at blackboard...
knowing her anger and stubbornness,he sighs and give it back...
person-"look!! im sorry!!! i totally forgot...i was busy with basket ball prac..."
girl(angrily)-"yes!!! practice!!!!...basket ball!!!..."
teacher(shukla ji) turn to them..
shukla ji-"mahodaya alina khuranna and mahodya abhay!!!!apne vartalap par purviram lagane ka kasht karenge...ap kaksha me vign daal rahe hai.behtar hoga ke app dono bahar jaa kar vichar-vimarsh kare..!!!"
and signal them to leave class. both stood and left the class...
alina was walking ahead in puff still angry with abhay and abhay following her...
abhay-"alina,stop yaar..look i said sorry!!!..i will never repeat again..u know i didn't do it intentionally..and let me tell u i was coming(alina looks at him,narrowing her eye at him)i..i mean i was on my way!!!..u should have waited for me little more!!!!"
alina gaped at him..
alina(disbelieved)-"what??i should have waited little more??? little more???(scream at him)i waited for god damm 1 complete hour!!!...arrgghh go to hell!! i don't want to see your face..."
and walks ahead but abhay again stop her..
abhay-"okk..it was my fault..u were truely right!!!..i should have been on time..i m sorry!! please..lets just get over with this..we have being fighting for last 20min ..lets not waste it!!. after 15min i have basketball practi..."
suddenly realizing what he said.he curses his big mouth to slip it...all the effort went in drain...again he had to start "mission manofy alina"...
alina(very casually,calmy)-"ohhh i see basket ball practice!!!(abhay shakes his head in no)(sweetly)u have to go for practice!!!.."
abhay(fumble with words)-"ye..i mean no..no ..i ..woh...mein..alina..."
alina(angry)-"shut up!! u won't change!!!.. that stupid game is more important to u than ur girlfriend , right!!!...instead of confronting her,consoling,asking for sorry...all u concern is basket ball!!..damm that ball in the deep pits of hell!!!!i thought u were truly sorry and couldn't make it yesterday but no!!all hell will broke down but no one can come between abhay and his basketball!!.(takes a breathe,composes her self)u know i waited for u for whole 1 hour that u would come...u knew i had been planning our date for a week celebrating our 1 year of relationship as couple!!!i thought we would spend this day together.and but no!!!!...infact, it should be u who should be planning our special day but on the contrary,it was me!!! who was arranging a romantic lunch in ur favorite restaurant keeping in mind what was ur like,dislikes,taste in food,favorite music...everything!!..everything i arranged was according to u..all u have to do was to come on time but u couldn't even do that!!!!u know that i was expecting so much from this evening but!!..but no !!!u are very busy with ur stupid,idiotic basketball..!!! and right now also the case is same..please abhay!! i don't want to talk to u ..leave me alone..!!!"
and walks out from there leaving behind a thoughtful abhay!!!!...
flash back ends-
suddenly abhay opens his eyes,sat in bed and looks around...
abhay(sighs)-"i wish u could see alina that there is someone who came between me and basketball..."
and looks at clock indicating 6 in morning...finally decided to get ready for college...
