I haven't watched the series for a few weeks. I found posts about Panchi and Abhay pretending to be an item. Thought someone must have clobbered the CVs on their heads for bringing this sick twist.
Just saw a few posts on Panchi's dream and read outbursts about nausea and disgust š. So, I got curious and watched the 5th August episode. Just the part with Panchi's dream.
I think we should not judge Panchi, but try to understand her. Dr Fraud's analysis: She is a Love Addict (I could also say, like Neil, she might become a S*x Addict).
The Panchi I remember, as they introduced, was a serious, Ms. Goody-Two-Shoes, involved in saving the lives of strays and people. She has major self-worth issues, that may be traced back to her childhood and the way her parents and her sister treat her.
I think she always felt inadequate about the way she looked. Even her family teases her about her weight issues, and her mother always wanted her daughters to dress well and look good in public.
Deep down, Panchi wants to be loved, adored, desired. But thinks she is not desirable. So, she pretended it was more important to lead a righteous life (saving animals and people), and was contemptuous of people like T who clamour for attention and flaunt their popularity.
Panchi must have felt really grateful for Danish's presence in her life. That was a kind of validation, that she too is loved and wanted. Then, she found, even he cheated her and thought she was just a ladder to climb into the high society of Dehradun. More than his unfaithfulness, I think it must have really hit her hard, that he chased someone younger, like Maya. Clearly, that was rejection by Danish.
Along came Sid...she was attracted to him, he knew it. So, he goaded her (saying she is boring, cold, etc.), while she was still hurting from the rejection by Danish and pretended on being the righteous one. All along she longed to be loved and desired. We know how the story ended. I won't get into that.
While her sisters were in Paris, Panchi decided she would become a Serial Dater. Giving it back to the boys, what they gave her š Pretence and rejection.
Along came Neil, the Love and (now S*x) addict. Now, they are both in an intense and volatile relationship. They are both same in many ways.
Panchi saw a way out in Abhay. And I am really not surprised, that she is now dreaming of him.
The CVs are in fact trying salvage Panchi's character by showing us that she is feeling guilty about dreaming of Abhay.
In fact I don't even blame her. Misha was beginning to feel uncomfortable too, being close to Abhay. I think she was smart enough to recognize it, and quit when Panchi offered to step in. But Panchi is addicted. It will be hard for her to quit. It will be hard for anyone to quit. We are talking about Abhay Raichand here š
Panchi's problems run really deep. Her sense of self-worth is stunted by her family and by all those rascals who came into her life and used her.
Instead of getting her out of their mansion and building her self-confidence, her parents are trying to quickly hitch her with the next Mr. Megabucks of Dehradun.
I remember Madhu's silly lines "Meri beti kitni pyaari lag rahi hai,...Meri beti raaj karegi us ghar mein..." and such nonsense; making Panchi go on a diet to make her look good, etc. For the Dobriyals, no matter how much they love their children, it is very important that their daughters look good, are popular, and desired by powerful families.
Both their daughters, Panchi and Misha have low self-worth. One got addicted to Alcohol and turned Man-hater, the other got addicted to Love and turned "Manizer" (borrowed from another post).
Don't judge Panchi. Understand that she is a prisoner of her own perception of who she is.
