Part Four
Aarti had an unannounced guest the next day. The person let herself in and sneaked on Aarti who was working in the kitchen. She gave Aarti a scare. Yash heard screams and came running only to be met with the sight of Aarti and another person hugging and giggling shamelessly. They stopped when they saw him. Yash had a frown expression on his face.
"Yashji this is my friend Mansi," Aarti introduced them. They exchanged greetings and Yash left them to their follies.
"That's your Yashji, I must say Aarti you are so lucky, yaar..you always get good looking men.
"Mansi, stop your nonsense. You know exactly under what circumstances I'm here," Aarti stopped her before she continued any further.
Aarti made coffee for both of them. They talked for hours before Mansi's husband came and picked her up.
Before leaving Mansi said, "Aarti I know you have suffered so much this few months, just don't worry time will heal everything ."
"My happiness is lost with Prashant. All I want is to bring our child to this world. This child is my reason to live."
"Aarti, whether you acknowledge it or not there is already another man in your life. What if you fall in love with your Yashji? Jaaneman'. men only want one thing, use it and capture his heart.
Aarti was annoyed and Mansi said her goodbyes and ran from there. Aarti protested in her head to what Mansi said. She only saw the impossibility of it and could not fathom it at all.
That night Yash heard Aarti cries again, only this time the urge to console and comfort her was so strong that he didn't pay heed to any reservations. He went into her room and saw her crouched on the bed. He gently touched her shoulder, she shuddered and got up to sit on the bed. She was slightly embarrassed with his presence in the room. The next thing he did surprised her, he made himself sit next to her and placed one of his arm on her shoulder. He then slowly moved his hand to her head and gently pushed it to rest on his shoulder. No words were exchanged between them.
After a few days the other family members returned and things were back to normal. Although no one said anything yet all noticed the visible friendliness between Yash and Aarti. As Aarti's pregnancy advanced, Yash made extra effort to keep up with the appointments as he was really busy with work. Dubeyji after recovering did offer to take Aarti but Yash declined his offer. Aarti had strange food cravings that too sometimes at odd hours and poor Yash obliged all, much to the amusements of others. Aarti did feel bad about it yet she couldn't help herself.
As Aarti approached her delivery date everyone's anticipation grew. Even Buaji remarked, "Bhaiya, everyone is so excited about the baby's arrival as if the baby belongs to this family."
"Maya, the baby might not be Yash's blood but it definitely will have Yash's name. And please learn to rejoice in other's happiness," Yash's father Suraj Pratap snided her.
On the baby's arrival day, Yash was as anxious as a real father would be. When the doctor announced, "baby boy", everyone jumped in excitement. Yash had named the baby Ansh Yash Schindia. Tears welled up in Aarti's eyes when she heard the name. Dubeyji thanked Yash from the bottom of his heart. Aarti too was in awe with Yash, he was a decent and reliable man.
6 months later;
It was Yash's birthday and Aarti took pains in preparing everything from the choice of food to the flower arrangments. Everyone complimented her on a well done job.
Vidhi peeped into kitchen. She looked at all the dishes Aarti prepared and said, "Wow... Aarti you made all Yash Bhaiya's favourite dishes. I'm sure you must have heard the saying the way to a man's heart is through his stomach."
Aarti looked down while blushing. She was almost done when Vidhi said, "Aarti go and get ready I will take care the rest."
Aarti selected a beautiful two-tone coloured saree with matching accessories for the occasion. She wanted to look her best and was quite pleased when she caught her reflection in the mirror.
Yash was impressed as well with all the effort the Aarti put in to make his birthday special. The whole family had great fun laughing and joking. Aarti who was cradling Ansh in her arms was seated far from them. She did however steal glances at Yash and when she saw him smiling, she smiled too. A few times he caught her and gestured with his hand to ask, "is something the matter". She just shook her head indicating, "nothing."
In the midst of all this, a women walked up to Yash and hugged him while wishing him, " Happy Birthday Yash."
Aarti recognised her instantly and looked at Yash's direction. He was surprised as everyone else to see her. "Did he know Arpita was coming home today? If he did why didn't he mention anything about it?" she thought to herself.
