We can tell Jyo her record has been broken because far from being a good episode I am scratching my head and wondering if I watched an episode at all or just saw the 30 second precap stretched over 20 mins. The positive here was the camera work, which was beautiful, a few moments (not even full scenes, just moments) and the setting for the next episode, I guess.
I understand that these are two people who are getting married unwillingly and with a lot of inhibitions but that doesn't excuse the fact that they froze for 30 seconds every time they were supposed to do something with one fixed expression on their faces. I mean, I was cheering every time either of them started moving. Both of these are actors with wonderful power in their eyes. They can express in a split second what is being stretched over minutes and in that the power of their expressions is being compromised. I am giving the CVs the benefit of the doubt for now, but if the pace does not pick up soon, it is going to be very hard to keep viewers hooked, with so many other action-packed options in the time slot.
And the repetition is not doing them any favours either. We get that Mansi thinks Yash is a huge horndog. We don't need to hear her say it every second. I am not mad at the characters but rather the writers who have made her seem redundant and almost vampy by how many times she is forced to drive the same baseless point into Aarti's head.
And whenever something happened, it was like they were taking attendance of all the cast members as they slowly and deliberately showed a close up of each one. It reminds me of Simpoo, if anyone remebers that...Pankazz! Present sir! π
CVs would do well to take note of this kind of criticism, which I am sure is not restricted to me, and I hope they do pick up the pace at least next week.
Now onto the things I did like:
The Dupatta/Stoll Connection
Aw this was both reminiscent of the car/dupatta scene and also symbolic of how these two are destined to be connected through marriage. Though they may not even want to look at each other, they will be irrevocably connected and will be forced to do so. Here we see Yash looked at Aarti's back, which ends up doing a lot and Aarti looked at him out of the corner of her eye, but it was progress!
Prateek, the eternal cupid. β€οΈ
This character is a ball of sunshine and I love that! Earlier we saw that he didn't let go until Yash responded to his teasing and today, he is trying to do the same for Aarti. He seems to be the kind of person that wants to dispel any awkward feelings that might be floating about and he loses no opportunity to tease and prod Aarti. I liked the reminder of hockey-stick wielding Aarti because that is honestly what I am holding on for right now.
I also loved, for some reason, how Mansi knew that Prateek was coming over. It makes me think she has experience with men before marriage. Could it be that she had all her fun and then settled into marriage? And it is Prateek that arranges the silent meeting between our leads in which it took them 5 minutes to walk out of the room. π
The shot of them not talking:
I love the way this was shot. The part where the camera shows them both in sillhouette, turning away from each other, with the sun in the middle was brilliant! I loved how they were both in darkness and the light was between them. This could mean that they were both ignorant of each other and refusing to turn to face the light, or it could show that they were submerged in darkness alone, but their path to light was to turn and face each other. But it isn't time just yet because of the lie that is between them of which both of them are in the dark and Shobha represents that lie which intrudes on their silent communion.
Superhero Yash saving Aarti from the insect.
OMG! Did Mansi hire that insect? π² It seemed put there especially to prove her point and Yash is so busy brooding that he refuses to even open his mouth to tell her there is an insect sitting on you in a place that I probably shouldn't be brushing. Isse kehte hain zidh! ππ Anyway, Aarti seems confident now that Yash is nothing but a huge sleazebag who is going to jump her the first chance he gets. Then why didn't he try anything outside, Aarti?
I have to agree that she is being a bit immature in coming to this conclusion just based on what Mansi has said. But I guess there is also a part of her that wants Yash to be gross so she can reject him the way she did Raghudayal and get her normal life back. However to completely trust Mansi like that is a little naive for a woman who has been in love, married and has a child.
I look forward to her getting a dressing down by Shobha tomorrow which I feel confident will happen, and I am glad Yash got to hear how she feels because it will only make him more comfortable, knowing how she isn't over her husband either. They can totally bond over their undying love for their previous spouses and their complete dedication to their respective children. So though they don't talk, Yash and Aarti will get to know each other a little better and hopefully will respect each other more and get this over with FASTER!
NOTE: I request every one to please be very careful with what you say here. I know that nobody here has any ill-will towards PV, its actors or its anything but we were made aware today that certain comments which we make with no other intention than constructive criticism or plain fun can be misconstrued by other members as bashing. I am really enjoying our analysis and would prefer not to give instigators even a tiny reason to raise a finger against this thread and disturb our flow π or the poor mod.ππ
I would also like to repeat that all are welcome here as long as you have comments/analysis/discussion/constructive criticism about the show, characters, acting (not the actors π), or issues brought up.
You know what I mean,
Just keep it SQUEAKY clean. π
