I know Jakkala's actions are a bit extreme but am I the only one who kind of gets why she is doing so?

I really don't like Kosha's actions and her naive disrespect in the name of 'mohabbat'.

It maybe due to my adverse reaction for extra marital affairs.

What do you think?

More than the women it's Tailap's fault who is the culprit as he is the married man here. If Jakkala cheated on him it would be her as the culprit more than that man. Tailap has no right to hurt Jakkala like this and leave her drunk. And Kosha sounds very nasty who shamelessly wants to be Queen and she promised her boss that one day she will reach palace from brothel.

What is a extra marital affair?. Morality of 10th century cant be judged with 21st century morals.The history of nearly all the kings in india is filled with such stories. Infact it is also one of the contributors to the rapid folding by indian kingdoms infront in front of British and the single largest factor for demise of mughals.

Mutiple marriages in india is not prohibited by religion but by respective marriage laws and by civil acts only.

I am stating only a general fact and my post is not intended to hurt any person or sentiments.

No matter what the time period is but the fact is a man is hurting his wife by having an extra-marital affair. What if it's Jakkala who had an affair with a man? Who cares the history of kings when the fact remains that a wife is hurt? In South, marrying multiple husband's too existed so that means Jakkala can have another husband too. Right? Apart from Tailap, a younger woman is shamelessly hurting the wife by wanting to be Queen and saying things like her love will come for her after she was done dancing.

Women from certain communities were permitted to have multiple relations in kerala in mediveal times. It is a fact. It was all legally valid by the codes that existed during that time. We cant say it is illegal by rules of today. It is like saying rajput women doing jauhar in 13th century is not right today. There is a difference between depiction and glorification.

As per today's rule a man or woman having relation outside marriage is ethically and legally wrong. But ethics,rules and morals are subject to revision based on times. It was not wrong then.

I saw an interview of Jitin who plays Tailap and as per him Tailap won a war and in return he was asked to marry the princess of that state that he had won over in the war..that princess was Jhakkala

So, his marriage was more of a political alliance and thus Tailap has never been in love with Jhakkala and fell in love with Kosha

Now in those times concept of divorce was not there...multiple marriages were allowed...Bajirao Mastani , Shahjahan-Mumtaz, even Padmini and Rawal are few examples

I am someone who is against extra marital affair

But if we think from show's perspective then all 3 are in a mess right now

I do understand Jhakkala..Her wanted her husband to stay with her , her hating Kosha everything is understandable.

Although her decision to burn down the whole brothel was wrong

Tailap is a man who is unable to do what he wants..He was never in love with Jhakkala but married her as part of a political alliance...the scenario is repeating with Satyashray and Vilas as well..both are young..their alliance is fixed as part of a political strategy.

We are yet to hear from the man about what he feels about Jhakkala and Kosha and the whole situation...he is clearly not right to have an extra marital affair so I need to understand why he never fell for Jhakkala after all he is married to her for so many years

Kosha is naive...she wants to live life of a normal girl but we do know that she is in love with a married man which is wrong

So, for me all are wrong to an extent...all are caught in a web and the situation is tricky...I can't put blame on a single person here...Maybe Tailap the most if i have to pick one yet pracically speaking I can see why a king of 9th century would have fallen in love with a courtesan keeping in mind those times and the circumstances.

I forgot to add that the only wrong thing Jakkala did was burn down the brothel. She could have gotten only Kosha killed . It would not have been much hard for her at the position of a queen.

Her attempting to kill her enemy is not wrong even by the codes that existed then. But her attempt resulting in other innocents dying was wrong even then. For that only she was given a earful. But the way her character is envisaged, she is not going to turn a new leaf anytime soon.

I really like the way some of you weighed each of their charecters from various perception.

So yeah thank you.

And huh the thing about extra marital affair is my personal POV, like a post script piece to point out my strange reasoning for supporting the queen. (Pretty bad, considering she burnt down an entire building)

Also Kosha, I kinda understand her dreams but what I get nerved on is her integrity to be blind on the Queen's life. She could possibly think about it like her maasi pointed out but she choose to ignore it and act naive which seems quite selfish. (Somebody potrayed a reply more clearly above.. loved it)

And the guy of this triangle, I really don't like the charecter as of now.. though somebody pointed out how his marriage occured which kinda explains why he is like that.

So yeah all of them are grey I guess..

Yes most of the characters are real and flawed and that is the beauty of PV

They are right and they are wrong in their own ways

We do know that some of their actions are not justified but we also know the reasons behind those actions..we feel conflicted as viewers of we should love them or hate them or sympathise with them or try to understand them..we are getting to see perspective of each of these characters

We can't pin point any character as white or black .. they are grey..very human and prone to committing mistakes

This is one of the reasons that I am loving this show

I hope it remains this way...I love such complicated grey characters
