Hey all
I must say I am getting addicted to this show and one of the main reasons is the characters are brilliantly written...I am seeing some real, flawed, grey characters who are not black and white but real full of flaws like any real human being !
Let's start with
1. MRINAL - A warrior princess whose main aim is revenge...Her ideology is all about war , revenge and hatred !
She can kill innocent people and murder a king in order to seek revenge
She takes all the decisions of her younger brother's life...She can fix her nephew's marriage without taking consent of his parents
She rules like a tyrant who doesn't allow any form of art in her kingdom
But we know that each of her action is a reason...Her actions are questionable but not without a reason
One incident changed her whole life as well as perspective...She is still somewhere living in the past
She wants to kill that man who brutally murdered her family in front of her eyes
She lost everything except for Tailap ...She has gone through the pain of losing her family and she can't bear that pain again..she can't lose the only one she has left with ie. his younger brother Tailap and hence there is a fierce need in her to protect him
This fierce need to protect him blinds her so much that she is not able to see how she has never let Tailap take his own life decisions
How his wife is suffering because of this...Jhakkala wasn't even informed that her son's marriage has been fixed
She got blinded by revenge that she didn't see how innocents died
So, yes Mrinal is a beautifully written flawed character...She is not perfect but a normal human who makes mistakes...We know her actions are questionable and we also know the reasons behind them
2. TAILAP
Another beautifully written character
Taking words from Ashi as she beautifully described him !
He is not perfect but flawed.But he is not a bad guy.He is just caught in the wrong circumstances He wants his life to be simple but it's so complicated
Jitin, the actor who plays Tailap has described Tailap as 'Ek adhoora raja, bhai, pati , premi aur yodha'
Tailap has grown under the shadow of his akka all his life...and now although he loves his akka very much and she is the center of his universe yet there is a lingering , hidden want to come out of her shadows and prove that he is no longer that little kid who needs her akka's protection but a powerful young man who can be a fierce warrior as well as a king
We know that his relation with Kosha is not right since he is a married man and yet we can understand his reason...As Shruthi said in her post...He goes to her so that he can find the real him, because of the need to be himself and Kosha gives him that
We know he is wrong and yet we can't help but feel bad for him
When Mrinal will fall for Prithvi...Tailap is going to feel betrayed as Mrinal was the one who taught him since his childhood that their main aim is revenge and hatred and war is the only way to go...and when Mrinal will fall in love with the enemy we know his hatred for Prithvi will increase and he will feel betrayed coz then it would mean the teachings given to him will mean nothing in that case
In that case his hatred for Prithvi and his anger towards Mrinal will also be understable
So, once again a beautifully written flawed character !
3. KOSHA - A prostitute who is wrong in loving a married man but we can't help but feel bad for her too...She for once wants to live the life of a simple girl , wants to dream of having a future, wants to marry the man she loves
again she is flawed but we can understand her point of view
4. JHAKKAL - She resents Mrinal but again there is a reason for that...In Tailap's life his akka holds the highest position...He gives more value to his akka than his wife...It is natural for any wife to hold a grudge against her sister in law who not only takes all of Tailap's decisions but also doesn't even inform her when she fixes Jhakkala's son's marriage that too as a part of a political deal
Tailap is in love with Kosha and no wife can bear that
If she tries mess with Mrinal and Tailap..then we know the reason behind that
5. SINDHU RAJ - He hates Prthivi and wants him out of his way but then again we know the reason behind it ...He is the real son and thus wants the throne which is not entirely wrong
So, all these characters are beautifully written...They are not pure black or white but real...They are grey and flawed and very human who make mistakes
I am loving how multi dimensional these characters are ..Grey characters are hard to find these days on TV and here we have so many flawed beautifully written characters
