Its just her opinion.......n i kinda agree with her that girls once they get married into a different household with a different culture.....then its girls who are suppose to adapt to thier sasural's ethics.
And i think.....so is Mona.......she is trying hard to adapt thier routine........after making so many mistakes.......n like Anukalp's dadaji says.......u've to learn from ur mistakes.......n that is what Mona is trying to do.

I dont think I said anything that was not about the show!! I think my comments have been strictly about Mona's character.... I was just expressing my views on WHY " mona's character is NOT dumb".....
I am sorry to say but I know how gujus live in US coz I have lot of guju frens and I am from US... I was not talking about the gujju women living in US when I commented on the thread. I was STRICTLY talking about the show and Gujrati people's culture in INDIA not in the US...??

I actually enjoy watching mona's reactions a lot. She's so innocent and naive. She's like a martian.lol

I agree with April on the point that it is very important for a girl to remember who she is even though she is in a new place. There is absolutely no reason for her to forget who she is and completely become a Gujju to prove what a good DIL she is.

This was the custom in the past when child marriage was the norm and girls completely and easily absorbed the culture and settings at the in laws place. To ask and even imagine a grown up girl who has imbibed her own culture so well is a strange and to insist upon it, a veritable sin.
It is asking her to sacrifice part of herself to stay happy in her in laws place.

Let us learn to accept diversity! If the DIL is different so be it, enjoy what new and beautiful things she can bring in. Why ruin every thing and make it monotonous?

Watching Mona is a refreshing change from many of the the "perfect" bahus that are seen in many of the soaps on zee. Exaggerated though the incidences may be her mistakes are what make mona such an endearing character, relatable and yes in my own eyes very human. RMJ has fast become one of my favourites no big villains just people who may have had their prejudices but who eyes are becoming open to the fact that while cultures may be different people are very much alike in so many ways.

I also find it dumb that Mona does not know all about sex and marriage at her age. Wasn't she at college? I think the writer pushed the dumbness too far. when the show first started, Mona's character was portrayed as a brilliant young girl who was very confident in herself and never afraid to talk for her rights but now all of a sudden she even cannot explain herself in situations.

In terms of criticisms, one can only get better with it. If persons are not critical, then I do not know where the show will be heading. the audience is what make the show a success and the writers has to be realistic.

I am not a regular looker of the show since this mona started to act in the series but I do follow the written updates.

Have a great day everyone

Yes it is a sin to expect a grown up women, proud of her culture and herself to scarifice her identity and culture in order to stay happy in a marriage and be accepted by the family.
