Yes, but those that dont follow the righteous path [shown in MKAP] are looked down upon like Prof seems to do without considering each situation on its merits...No two situation is the same and one can not be judgmental and put and categorise such situation as a vice without knowing the circumstances and facts...
I have seen both sides where we have helped and where we have been helped...So what does that make us in terms of MKAP social awareness?????

hmmm...... how small? do I get to know what the favor is before accepting / rejecting ?In this scenario, it makes it even easier for me to make a choice and say no.i hate feeling beholden to people (i'm very bad at butt kissing....... ask my family 😛) so if I can do the favor without it being linked to the promotion then that would be preferable to me.And the defence rests your honor 😆

really a though provoking post sathya.
cant answer it. i never had to face such situation. i had to get admissions through my hard work be it school , my college or now university. i am not a great student but i got what i think i deserve.PS: i think its also depends where a person live. i really dont know if i lived in india i would have taken a job with recommendation or not.
Just what is this righteous Path ..Star ...do u think in the present times any normal man who is engaged in the fight for survival can afford to follow the strict and uncompromising path of righteousness ..and if he were to say ..ok..let me just veer half an inch..but I still am a righteous man ....would not that be a compromise of righteousness ..
In terms of MKAP ..I donno .. but in society ..we are Normal people with our plu n minus qlty
Utlimately the conscience and one's response to it's calling dictates the choices one makes in life. Also the mind set of a person plays a big role...... do you see the forest for the trees?

That is the whole point I think Tanthya...We are normal people who under those circumstances make a decision that suits us best....Here the recommendation is based on the worst case scenario...My cousin got her present job based on influence..She may have got this job based on influence but it is her hard work that has made what was a temp job into permanent position??
.How would Prof or Prats judge her on this basis...I think in reality it is very difficult to follow the righteous path as both Prat and Prof proved...Prats claimed Arushi's crime as mistake and justified it accordingly...Another outsider would consider Arushi as a criminal...Prof took Jai's case back due to his future association with that family...For an outsider that too could be considered as a compromise of righteousness...
End of the day I think it is how we perceive what the righteous path is and how we live with it daily...

@ Mera......... 😆 I feel more like i'm under a psychological study 😛Of course you are😃 What did you think I meant when I said I am 😍😆. Oh, I could take this conversation into a whole different realm but I will reserve that for another day.😛to answer the question - I would ask the UC why me? if I did not initiate contact with this person and the recomendation came out of the blues, I would be more concerned with what price I might have to pay later regardless of any assurances to the contrary...... The reality is that UCs dont go around doing good deeds with no strings attachedI'd say thanks but no thanks.......... it may be a good job, but it certainly isnt the only job available because most times, when something seems too good to be true, its usually isBesides, if I were to accept the promotion, I would fret about the respect & confidence my boss has on my ability to execute the duties & responsibilities of the higher position ...... too much pressure to justify the promotion would put me on the defensive and i may end up hating the job after a while 😆 😆 😆
