If someone helps others to get ahead of life with their influence or seeks help to gain a foot in their career path, would you condemn then to be unsanskari, unprincipled or lack of values...Is not judging a person considered vice?????

it is !1 But then every person judges, weighs and decides ...being non -judemental is when u r nearing nirvana ...otherwise from my experience ..one always judges ppl

wasn't a common man always taught to fear his conscience ..fear for his soul ...since when did this teaching's change to fleecing and get rich quick schemes 😊 ... So why would a common man put his soul in a bind for a few extra pieces of paper

tanthya i'm sorry I wasn't actually generalising was referring to myself & my siblings our family & how we were raised. :)

Now for my surprise...one of my shorter posts😉😛😃

Bottom line is this. Life is all about choices. Can you live with yourself day in and day out without looking over your shoulders, fretting it, guilt ridden and anxious, that's what really matters. For ultimately it's your good health, peace of mind and self-acceptance also known as LOVE is what really matters. Moral judgments are easy to come by, a dime a dozen. But one's perception of life based on their life's experience and context is the basis for their own truth.

Mera moves away from the podium before Tanths gets her out of there.😛

what if that perception is blunted ..or that perception is being over ridden by the hunger for power

Bharathiyar was an opium addict ..That would not be classified as a an i eal attitude ..would you ..

Sure he did not give up on his beliefs ..but his family did not live happily when it could have easily done so ..and since we are those individuals for whom family matters ..what would you do..if ur family were all for accepting the rec and u did not feel comfy

Yes, but those that dont follow the righteous path [shown in MKAP] are looked down upon like Prof seems to do without considering each situation on its merits...No two situation is the same and one can not be judgmental and put and categorise such situation as a vice without knowing the circumstances and facts...

I have seen both sides where we have helped and where we have been helped...So what does that make us in terms of MKAP social awareness?????

it all boils down to what the person's mentality is...............if he can live without feeling guilty or reminded in every step he takes that he got a job/position not by his merit but by recommendation from and outsider, he can go for it...............

but if the person believes that sometimes to win in life u have to give up the thing which u wanted most and be true to his heart then he will never accept such a favor be it anyone what if he considers the wealth to be the ultimate thing ................ some people may not understand what is to live with pride ..What exactly is Pride....What might be a pride thing for u might not be pride thing to another..as u so eloquently put it..Pride depends on perception ...[and weren't we thought that pride comes before fall 😊] and listen to ones heart rather than mind, and for those people , they may achieve money , status , momentary glory and happiness but it will never be permanent

what if he considers the wealth to be the ultimate thing

How can you be sure that it will not be permanent ..cast a look around..u will notice that many people have adopted corrupt ways, made money and died among this wealth

................its the path one chose to live that matters............. isn't it ?? and just bec one individual's path is diff from ur's would that maki him condemnable ??

gandhiji(who had committed many mistakes in his life and admitted it with remorse) could easily have ignored the discrimination met out to fellow citizen in SA and continue living a life of luxury...............but he chose to fight for the poor and needy by becoming one among them.....and he never raised his hand on the officers who trampled him and thrashed him, holding on to his principle of ahimsa even in excruciating pain...I personally donno why Gandhi was brought in . Since I am talking about common man ..But since u invoke Gandhiji ..let me say while Gandhiji is the father of the nation, he singualrly failed to be a father to his own son..and while at it let me say when the whole of congress wanted Sardar vallbh Bhai patel to be the first PM..Gandhiji played favouritism , overruled everyone and stubbornly planted Nehru ..so u see even Gandhiji ha da chink..but most of the time he rose above this chink ..whereas the person who had to suffer this brunt would not look kindly on this chink . [ His good qualities outweighed his negative ones] . ..............like wise Galileo, never betrayed his faith and beliefs in face of death...Sorry to disappoint you ..Galileo did recant under the pressure from church and lived under house arrest for the rest of his life ......rabindranath tagore, born into a feudal and highly rich family could easily have lived a different life, He never left his wealthy house ..he lived a normal life , built a marble floored ashram. a school, A big garden and for the rest of his life lived off his inheritance and royalties ..like wise swami Vivekananda too..........its not who u r.............its about how u r what u r........Swami vivekananda..lived in a lap of luxury and forsake it ,to become a bachelor Sage in PURSUIT of knowledge...similarly todays men is in PURSUIT of status , Money ...

just like a snake who won't give up the 'nagamani' even in the face of death, righteous people would never let go off their values and principles in life...........whatever maybe the lure and threat..........

Snakes don't have Naagmani ...it's a Myth !! ... as I reiterate again..I am least interested in righteous people [ who are in short supply anyway ..or should I say..there many righteous people about until they get caught !!] ...

That goes without saying Dhanya ..That if a person can live with his conscience ..he can get away with anything even murder !! But Here I am talking about those people who have mixed attributes..they are not bad nor are they good..they are a mixture ....They cannot be classified as bad cos they have some redeeming features and neither thay can be classified as angels for they have a slightly dented compass ... In fact I am talking about a Human who has greed and conscience .. what would happen then ?? That is my question .....

@ Mera......... 😆 I feel more like i'm under a psychological study 😛
to answer the question - I would ask the UC why me? if I did not initiate contact with this person and the recomendation came out of the blues, I would be more concerned with what price I might have to pay later regardless of any assurances to the contrary...... The reality is that UCs dont go around doing good deeds with no strings attached
I'd say thanks but no thanks.......... it may be a good job, but it certainly isnt the only job available because most times, when something seems too good to be true, its usually is
Besides, if I were to accept the promotion, I would fret about the respect & confidence my boss has on my ability to execute the duties & responsibilities of the higher position ...... too much pressure to justify the promotion would put me on the defensive and i may end up hating the job after a while 😆 😆 😆

what if this UC was someone known to you and you could be assured that in return he is asking only for a small favor which does not involve hanky panky in ur office affairs...

I really liked all the different views by other posterwas...👏
I feel that it is impossible for the common man to be completely idealistic in today's world.... not everyone can be a Mahatma Gandhi or Mother Teresa.... even in MKAP, the idealistic Prof and Prats hid the truth (Angad-gate) from Krishna....

In my opinion, taking favours / recommendations from someone would depend on the situation....as long as it is not harming anyone else.... for example... you bargain with yr long-time subjiwala and he gives u discounts which he doesn't to other customers.... or an airlines friend helps u get cheaper tickets....🤔
On the other hand... bribing someone, or sucking up to the boss for favours / promotion would be a definite no-no in my book...🤢

Why would u consider Bribe as a No-No ..or sucking up to Boss ....what if ur peers were doing the sucking up thing ......

Thank You for highlighting the reality of life ...
