Since then I do pay this site periodic visits to read with interest what people have to say about this show. There seems to be some very ardent supporters of Krishna who would accept and maybe even justify every flaws of this boy-man. And there are equally strong supporters of Pratigya who would do the same for her. And there are a third lot which would include me who watch the show with no strong likes or dislikes of the leads but who are definitely intrigued by the unfolding story. From what I have seen, I would say that both the leads have very strong personalities but for me, Pratigya is more understandable and to a great extent predictable than the ever volatile Krishna.
A lot has already been said about how Krishna's background has shaped his character but there are a few puzzling things about him which cannot solely be attributed to his upbringing. Of the many puzzling things about him, the current track on the lie about the non-existent pregnancy perhaps brings to the fore the complexity of the hero.
I for one did not understand why he had to lie about the pregnancy in the first place. Granted that he wanted to make his father happy with the news of a grandchild on the way but was his bro not already providing his family with an heir? Was his father not already happy about this news. Then why does he have to unnecessarily lie about another non-existent heir? Especially when such a lie will easily come out sooner than later?
There are two possibilities for his strange behaviour:
One - he is a man with zero IQ who is not much aware about the biology of a woman and thinks that such a lie can be perpetuated.
Two - he is an extremely shrewd and opportunistic man who planned to trap Pratigya into giving in to his physical needs so as to turn the lie into a truth soon.
Frankly, both these possibilities do not look very flattering.
When the truth finally came out in the most embarrassing way just as Pratigya had warned, he behaves in the most abominable way by first slapping her and later throwing a tantrum like a child who has been deprived of a candy when she finally walked out on him. As though this was not enough, he cuts the hand that hit her in remorse, only to undo all the empathy one could feel for him by disgracefully yelling for her to return outside her house thereby making a spectacle of himself and his sasural.
While the Thakur household is full of wild and loud people, atleast the other inhabitants' behaviour is fairly predictable but Krishna continues to be the big enigma. All that he does goes against the very grain of love he professes to feel for Pratigya. One is left to wonder if he needs some urgent help from a psychiatrist. Hope they throw more light on this enigmatic character in the coming episodes and redeem him to some extent.
