It was a usual day ,Sangam was crowded like any other day.Thakur Sajjan Singh was there with his whole family. His wife, his mother, elder son Shakti and his wife,Komal,Thakur Sajjan's daughter and Krishna ,the younger son of Thakur Saab.
It was 5 o'clock in the morning, the east side of the sky was enlightened with the rays of the sun.The Thakur family was there to offer a thank to the God for the recent success of Thakur Saab.He gained the contract to make the road between Allahabad and Gorakhpur.Big deal indeed. It was certainly an occasion to thank the God or the Goddess.
Professor Shyam Saxena was there with his family to make a pray for the marriage of his elder daughter Pratigya.Adarsh,Pratigya and Arushi ,Prof. Saxena was very proud of his three children as they all were well educated and well mannered with great human values as Prof. Saxena always thought about them to be.He always thought that it was because of Naina, his wife who raised the children with great care.Naina thanked to the God for giving her a husband who not only loves her but also respects her a lot.Her mother-in-law always treated her like a daughter of her own.Naina has a dream that her son-in-laws will just like Prof. Saxena so that her daughters can get a life full of peace, love and respect.
On the contrary,Sajjan Singh's wife and daughter -in-law were there to complain about their fate, their miserable lives.Thakur Saab,Shakti and Krishna ,three wild bulls,it was a tough job to adjust with them,Thakurain was also worried about her daughter Komal.Komal also became wild and ill mannered because of the company of her father and two brothers. It was a great matter to worry that how Komal will adjust in her married life.
Two families, like north pole and south pole were in the same place. One was to thank and another was to pray.Komal and her brother Krishna moved to the stalls to purchase some funny stuffs,Shakti was on his feet to protect his father ,Thakur Sajjan Singh, with his newly bought gun.Thakur and Thakurain was seated in front of the Pandit chanting the mantras while Thakur's mother and Shakti's wife were observing the ritual with eagle eyes. The rituals were done, now Thakur searched for his younger son,Krishna.."Yeh Kisna kidhar gaya?"
"Abhi bula k laate hain..yeh ladka sahi jagah par kabhi teekta hi nahi.."..Shakti replied and went to get Krishna and Komal.
Krishna came with a frustrated mood and said,"Puja kar liye..ab chalo..ghar chalo.."
"Behoode kahin k..puja naahi kia tu theek hai..Sangam par aakar bina doobki lagaye jaayega ka be?Chal..dhoti pahin le..aur utar paani me..".. Thakur ordered..
"Amma..ab ee sab hum se naa hoga..naha kar toh aaye hain ghar se.."..Krishna argued.
"Abe apni Amma ki taraf mat dekh..jo keh rahe hain..wahi kar..behoode badtameez kahin k.."..Thakur Saab got angry..
Krishna had no choice but to have a bath in the Ganges.
Saxena family was also done with there rituals.Shyam's mother advised them to have a nominal bathe in the river. As the sun will be brighter, more and more people will gather,so many foreign tourists will also come,so it's better to have the bathe in early hour.
Shyamjee and Naina get ino the river,Arushi was scared so Adarsh was with her.. Pratigya did not need any helping hand. They were praying facing the sun.
Except Krishna all were done with their holy bathing,Thakur looked for Krishna, "Baba kidhar gaya?"
"Bhaiya toh tairte hue nadi k us taraf chala gaya.."..Komal informed her father..
"Ee ladka bhi..pahle toh paani me utarne ko raazi nahi tha...ab dekho..." ..Thakurain said..
"Chalo theek hai..hum us taraf chalte hain..Sakti..chaai mangavao...Baba aa jaaye..fir chalenge.."..Thakur Saab advised.
Krishna dived under the water, and when he got over it..he experienced a mesmerising view.
A beautiful girl,in the water to her stomach line, fully wet, water dropped on her face from the wet hair.Sun rays fell on her face, which made her looking very bright, peaceful. She wore a sky blue dress with white chunri. The girl was praying to the sun,her eyes were closed and palms were folded in a praying posture.
"Pratiyga...chalo Beta.."..the middle aged lady called the girl, possibly her mother. The girl opened her eyes..her eyes met Krishna's eyes. The girl felt akward a bit by seeing Krishna..Krishna smiled but her face got tightened. She turned back and got out from the river..
Now Krishna looked at himself..he was wearing only dhoti, his upper body was naked..this may be the reason of the girl's feeling awkward .Naturally, any unknown man would come in front of you with a bare body,it is normal to react in that way..
Krishna wanted to follow her but then he felt a patt on his shouldier,he turned back,it was his brother,Shakti."Kahan reh gaya tha?Chal..Baujee bula rahe hain, ghar chal..chal ab..", Shakti almost dragged him..
Pratigya, yes her name is Pratigya, nice name.Facing the sun she was praying,as if she was taking a oath.Pratigya, means oath, the name certainly suits her.
Pratigya was walking with her family with an aloof mind. The family wants her to get married. But she is not feeling anything about it.Just let it be.Dadi wants her to be safe from the local goons and the road romeos ,it's better to be married instead of chased by any lumpen.Already she has faced a loafer in the river..he was an idiot,no shame,no manner, with a bare body he was standing before her. Inappropriate hair cut, unshaven face, improper glance..
"Pratigya,kyaa hua?Kahan khoi ho?"..Adarsh asked..
"Nothing Bhaiya..it's just nothing..itne din baad Sangam aai..subah ka nazara ..achha laga.." Pratigya managed to say..
Arushi and Dadi took one rickshaw,Shyamjee started his scooter accompanied by Naina, and Pratigya was on Adarsh's bike..
Krishna was staring at the passing figure, the same girl,Pratigya, possibly they were going back home.He saw the passing bike in the view finder of his jeep.. "Pratigya, theek se mera kandha pakdo..geer jaaogi.."Adarsh warned her..
Holding his brother's back,Pratigya looked back ,a jeep was coming..the guy she met in the Sangam was in the jeep..he was also looking at her.
