Mandy, If we do not comment to an update, it does not really mean that we dont read them any more. Sometimes, we do not have the right words to comment and we have to wait for future updates to grasp the story.
Do you still have doubts that readers dont like your works or if your writing has gone so low.
I can perfectly understand how much time you have to take from your hectic schedules to update. But that update sometimes could be a filler episode and yet it might be very important for the future tracks to make sense. In that case, we may not have much to comment for.
Sometimes, the udpates might be so fabulous that we do not have the right words to do justice.
Sometimes, it also happens that we keep waiting for something in the next update and if we dont get what we were yearning to read. And we do not know when the next update would be. It would be very unfair on our part to force you into frequently updating it. In such cases also we may not have much to comment but to wait for the next update.
It also happens that some FFs are discontinued especially when we get so attached to it. The story is so interesting and we get too involved with the characters. But for some reasons the writer decides to discontinue. And believe me, this does disturb the reader a lot . Initially I felt that I would not start an FF or even an SS unless the writer completes it. But there are few works, which are so fabulous that I could not help reading them even if they are ongoing.
You are no less than a professional writer and you can take my words for it. I have seen from your previous works on how you phase out the updates from a beautiful concept. You know best in designing what should come in one update and how important an update is to tie the loose ends. Then again there is this time constraint because of your other priorities.
I may not comment at every update, because I may not get what I was expecting in that update. But I do know that as and when the story moves on, it would definitely exceed my expectations. But then I cannot bring my self to just comment - "Fabulous episode - please update soon". I may just press the like button to show that I have read it. But I may be earnestly waiting for the next update to see how the story moves.
When you write different concepts, it would take time for the readers to grasp it. It so happens in TV shows also for somethings to catch up. So why do you still doubt on your writing skills, That people have lost interest in your works. I can assure you that it will never be the case.
I would never ask you to update if it is putting you under strain or if you have to take out time from a hectic schedule.
But if writing gives you pleasure then I would definitely ask you to continue and not just go by the number of comments after every update. As one of the readers, I can assure you that towards the end of the story, many of us would have become attached to it and would feel very very sad that it is coming to an end.
You writers are doing us great favour. These fanfictions are really great. We get to see our favourite characters in an interesting track, which we would have always wished to see them but could never imagine a story. You do perfect justice to every work that makes us wonder at your writing skills and wish for getting the work published. You do this without expecting any material benefit or return in any kind. You just look for our comments which are encouraging. And I perfectly understand that when you dont find many ,it puts you down.
But believe me, it is not the case, we may not comment each and every update, but we DO LOVE your works and we admire your writing skills.
To tell you the truth, sometimes I dont feel like commenting as my comments are very lengthy and I do feel sometimes that they tire the writers. Everytime when an update is out, I feel that I would not comment this time but still cant help commenting.
Some updates, I do feel like commenting, but I dont just get the right words. Even I do have this apprehension that people may not like my comments. I also feel like asking the writers if I should comment or if I should just be a silent reader.
And that is why I do acknowledge, a feed back is very important for both.
And I would like to say, on behalf of the readers, that we may not be able to give a feed back for every updates, but its mostly because we dont find the right words for it. But we have already given this feed back that you are a fabulous writer and your writing can never become low. With every work, it breaks its own record.
Wish I could somehow convince you on that...
