Does too much expectations have a bad effect on players game? What do you think?

Fans' expectations 'crippled' India's chances: Sangakkara PTI

Kingston:

Sympathising with Team India's fallen heroes, Sri Lankan stumper Kumar Sangakkara said the weight of a billion expectations had a "crippling effect" on their World Cup campaign.

"To be honest, I feel sorry for India's cricketers. They'll now face a torrent of criticism and abuse in the coming weeks. Fanatical fans will no doubt be burning effigies," Sangakkara said.

"The huge expectation places their players under enormous pressure. And when that expectation is raised a degree or two, it can easily have a crippling effect," he wrote in a column for a cricket website.

The Indians crashed out of the showpiece event in the first round itself after losing to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Their only victory came against minnows Bermuda and the poor show caused a furore in India with fans burning posters and effigies of the otherwise adored players.

Sangakkara said he felt lucky not to be playing for India or Pakistan as Lankan fans were much more forgiving than their neighbours when it came to defeat.

"In Sri Lanka, the general public seem to have a more easy-going perspective. The attitude of our fans makes it easier for us. Yes, we still get our fair share of criticism. There can be mud-slinging in the media too," Sangakarra said.

to a point i do agree with him. im not sure about SR fanz, but i sure do no that in india there r alot of die-hard cricket fans and oviously there is gonne be alot and critism and all that stuff, after all india showed a very poor skills against BD and SR, so the fans who has such high expectations of india winning in super 8 and all that stuff that didnt happen are gonna be mad. its just natural human nature, specially one a cricket fan. yes i agree that maybe india does get alittle to upset and start overacting, but thats what the indian team members deserve after such poor performances. most of there time is spent shooting adds and doing all the things that people that are called "actors" should do. they need to get there butt on the cricket field and start practicing, otherwise next time they play a match and loose, indian fans will probaly loose faith. CRICKET it a SPORT, NOT a MONEY making machine!!!!
(notice the captilized words are Cricket-Sport, Not-Money) 😆
