The last two episodes of the show have been so intelligently written, that they have put me in a lot of thought about relations, their importance, the upbringing of a child and then priorities. There is no denying that relationships are never simple, merely that word itself sounds so complex. But when the word love is adjoined to it, the complexity does seem to ease up. I've been reading a lot of interesting discussions on the forum, some team Asad, some team Zoya. In normal cases I'd probably pick one side and sit down calmly 😆 But this time around the show and its well written episodes (Don't make me take back my words Mr PH ) have forced me to be Team AsYa.
A lot of people say that Asad and Zoya have never given each other priority over others. My question is, how does one decide priorities? Does loving one person mean that either of them should forget relations they've built over years? Does loving each other mean that their individuality, their pain, their issues with their life and their relationship with the rest of their closed ones cease to exist?
They have fallen in love with each other a few months ago, but there are certain issues they have been living with since their childhood. Both have longed for the love of a father, both have been abandoned. One doesn't have the answer for it and searches for it and the other knows the answer but wants to run away from it. These are the scars they have grown with, so how do we expect them to forget those scars and the kind of pain it has inflicted on them?
Asad was running away because the one person his life revolves around seemed to have chosen another man over him, he felt like his life had no meaning. It doesn't mean Zoya has no place in his life, had it been the case would he urge for her to come with him? She refused, he didn't retaliate because he saw sense in what she said, but his mental state made him see it as abandonment by her as well. Thus when she said she needed him he had melted, but the mention of his parents got him back to reality. The real source of his pain was their abandonment. He did not stop for his mother, nor did he stop for Zoya, he stopped because he knew he was needed, by someone, by anyone Everything is not about priorities, and for Asad this time around it was not about Zoya, not about his Ammi or Ayaan, it was about HIMSELF. He deserves peace, love and closure somewhere doesn't he?
Zoya is someone who cares for everyone she loves equally. She does not know the meaning of prioritizing it self. She wants to be of help to everyone, Dilshad, Asad, Najma.. her family. She didn't want to stop Dilshad even though she cried on the departure, knowing fully well it would break Asad, because it was her Phupi's choice, she thought she had every reason to decide for herself. She did not stop Asad from going and agreed to go with him until she realized that taking him away and going with him would only increase his pain than calm him. He would only just close his eyes from the truth, not stop feeling it within him. Zoya has craved for a parents love and for her it is really hard to understand WHY anyone would want to leave the parent, or not understand or forgive them. A person who craves for acceptance will always forgive and forget. She merely wanted Asad to not burn in his rage and hurt himself. I do not support her POV because I do not think Rashid deserves to be forgiven, and I do not think Asad is wrong in not wanting to do the same. But I do not think that Zoya has been biased with her priorities, pr loves Asad any less because her opinion differs from his.
When Asad and Zoya have never given priority to themselves individually, why would they ever intentionally or unintentionally be biased in not giving priority to each other.
The post got too long, but its rare cases when the episode gives me so much content to talk on. You could leave reading it if its boring 😆 sowwie :$ For those who didn't get bored, please chip in your thoughts 'CALMLY' 😛
