I think instead of shying away from discussing things that do exist in our community, we should be more open about it so girls and women who are still living in fear can come out.

Yea...Girls should be more open! but not go overboard they also should know their limit not get influence to the extend! but whatever it is the punishment shouldn't be DEATH it could be anything else!

Is it not funny when a drop of hat people blame each other religion , region when the issue is altogether different. Like in some honour killing family /villagers murder both girl and boy bcoz some trival reason like marriage in same gotra , different caste etc. which religion said so? The real reason is girl vs. the regressive thinking of relatives/family/society. Above all this society think girls always owned by somebody , we hardly hear a boy's parent killed him in some trival reason like marriage or immoral act. etc. It is not male vs female issue nor limited to any religion or region . Edit : watch dibakar banajee's movie Love sex dhoka there this issue has been beautifully potrayed.

I dont think Victor meant to insult india with that comment. He was probably referring to countries like india.. as in pakistan, bangladesh, and all the neighbouring countries. The comment "your country Pakistan" was not necessary

Ill just be open I was insulting india .

But as for Pakistan ... That place is worse than india . Why you think I haven't been there in 7/8 years . It's not like I can't get a passport 🤣 🤣

But it's not about Pakistan or india or Hindu or Muslim but an issue of ideals and character

And people who this type of stuff have neither . But I'm not very good at talking about this stuff . So I just make lame jokes. Sorry if I offended anyone

But in seriousness it doesn't matter whatever country you live in if this happens the best option is moving . I suggest hoping on the first boat outta there

^ I don't think that running away will solve anything. The problem exists in the mindset of people. If this can happen in countries like Canada, America and the UK where we think we're very liberal, then women aren't really safe anywhere in the world.

It's the ideology that needs to change. I don't think it's about religion or country but it is about culture and extremist and incorrect interpretations ofreligion.

Once People are dead set on being stupid you can't reason with them

I saw this film few months back with my parents Shud Desi Romance

I always assumed my parents were somewhat progressive but after this film they went off .

They claimed the film was "propagating nonsense ideas " and that they should've gotten Married at the end . This went on for a good 4 hours . I fell asleep and my mom woke me up to lecture me some more

They asked me if I had ever considered living with a girl in w/o being married . I said idk . Ami was having none of that

Now this is a very small film and it has a small idea . But some people are so dead set on doing what they want it's better IMHO to just ignore them .

That's just me

Funny is when it comes to killing and bad behavior, people see the religion, race, name, country but when it comes to friendship, love and good behavior, religion, race, name, country totally gets ignored..

I have pretty conservative parents myself. Everyone's had an arranged marriage except for a few people and in their cases, it took a lot of persuasion. But I think the only way I'll be able to get to marry someone of my choice is if I keep trying to communicate my opinion to them. There is definitely a generation gap between parents and children and it's hard to them to accept this life style just like it is hard for us to accept their traditional values. You're a guy so you could probably get away with a lot more. I have a Muslim friend that cried herself to sleep everyday because her parents had decided to get her married at 20. For girls, it is harder to just take that escapist approach.

Some of the comments in this thread are downright vile and disgusting. Condoning the act, blaming a religion and pointing out 'this and that' country only shows people's ignorance nothing else.
People forget that they have the option of disowning their child. If Noah can do it then so can you. Plus, its the parents fault in case where they take their children to western countries and expect them to conform to eastern norms.
I'm just surprised that this is a problem in India as well. I thought it was predominant in Pakistan only.

This is becoming a controversial topic where religion is being brought in and inappropriate comments are being made. Closing this topic before things go further.
