The Mumbai Crime Branch has made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the alleged threat and extortion attempt against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. Authorities have identified Harry Boxer, a key operative within the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as the prime suspect responsible for sending the threatening message. This development marks a significant step forward in the case, focusing the investigation on a known figure associated with organized crime.

Extortion Attempt on Ranveer Singh: Key Suspect Identified

Investigators have uncovered crucial evidence in the alleged extortion attempt targeting Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. Sources reveal that a WhatsApp voice note, demanding ?1 crore, was sent to the actor’s manager. Preliminary analysis by the Crime Branch has matched the voice in the message to that of Harry Boxer, a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Investigation and Security Measures

The threatening message was reportedly received shortly after the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence. The voice note allegedly contained threats and an extortion demand. While officials are gathering further technical and forensic evidence to solidify their findings, security around Ranveer Singh has been heightened as a precautionary measure.

Intensified Investigation and International Assistance

The Mumbai Police have significantly escalated their investigation into the threat against Ranveer Singh, recording the statement of the actor’s manager three days ago. Sources indicate that the threatening message was routed through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), obscuring its origin and pointing towards an overseas location. To trace the network's origin and pinpoint the country from which the threat was sent, the Crime Branch has requested assistance from Interpol, leveraging international resources to aid the investigation.

About the threat

In a parallel development, authorities also recorded the statement of actor Aayush Sharma’s manager on Wednesday night, as he too reportedly received similar threats. Both cases are currently under investigation, with formal First Information Reports (FIRs) expected to be registered soon. Despite the ongoing inquiries and gathering of evidence, no FIR has been filed in either case as of now, highlighting the meticulous process of building a strong legal foundation for the accusations.
