Zee TV’s family drama Lakshmi Niwas has been connecting with viewers through its heartfelt and relatable narrative that reflects the emotional realities of India’s middle-class joint families. Rooted in dreams, responsibilities, and relationships, the show portrays the quiet strength of families who continue to hold on to hope, togetherness, and the belief that one day, their dream of owning an “apna ghar” will be fulfilled.
The story follows Lakshmi and Srinivas, a couple who have spent 35 years in a rented house while nurturing two deeply cherished dreams — owning a home and seeing their children settled happily. As they begin moving closer to achieving these long-awaited goals, unforeseen challenges emerge, testing their relationships and their faith in family bonds.
She’s the youngest on set, so she’s everyone’s jaan. And for me, I feel every woman has that motherly instinct somewhere within her. I’m really happy that I’m getting a chance to live that motherhood on screen.

A Tender Bond Beyond the Script
Adding emotional depth to the show is Akshita Mudgal, who plays Radhika, the elder daughter of Lakshmi and Srinivas. While Radhika’s character is shaped by family values and sacrifice, Akshita has formed a special bond off-screen with child actor Kessar Kansara, who essays the role of Nia. Their scenes together reflect warmth and care, bringing authenticity to their on-screen moments.
Speaking about her experience, Akshita Mudgal shared, “It’s been so much fun shooting with Kessar. She’s such a sweet kid, and honestly, the bond feels very natural. Recently, for a scene, her mother told me to get upset with her, and I felt so bad because whatever I say, good or strict, it impacts her the most. In the scene, I had to scold her, and she immediately started crying. We recorded the shot, and right after that, I ran to her to pacify her, to say sorry, and make her feel okay again. Even later, I kept checking on her.”
‘She’s Everyone’s Jaan on Set’
She further added, “She’s the youngest on set, so she’s everyone’s jaan. And for me, I feel every woman has that motherly instinct somewhere within her. I’m really happy that I’m getting a chance to live that motherhood on screen. Nia is not actually Radhika’s daughter in the story, but in many ways, she is. When she’s with me on set, she naturally becomes my responsibility. Even if her mother is around, she depends on me a lot, and I think those feelings come through naturally on screen too.”
With emotionally driven storytelling and a strong ensemble cast including Manasi Joshi Roy, Rajendra Chawla, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Akshita Mudgal, Lakshmi Niwas continues to present a portrayal of family bonds, sacrifice, and aspirations. The show remains centered on relationships that define everyday life, while also highlighting the simple yet powerful dream that keeps many households moving forward.
