Its beyond my capabilities to understand how one condones Honor Killing. Its plain barbaric. One makes mistakes and one learns from it, there is no need to cut short their life just cos the society is going to talk about them for couple of days.

I dont think Victor meant to insult india with that comment. He was probably referring to countries like india.. as in pakistan, bangladesh, and all the neighbouring countries. The comment "your country Pakistan" was not necessary

On Topic: Honor Killings is a serious issue. It happens in so many countries, and part of the reason is lack of education. People use their culture/ religion/ traditions to justify their actions, and I don't understand how one could kill their own sister/ daughter. Sometimes people commit mistakes, and family should support them and guide them, not kill them.

These things r done by outdated people. I feel sorry for these women, but sad they don't have freedom like other women in the world.
Getting killed because of having sex or any other pride issue is utter ridiculous.

Recently I met a lady professor who is very famous for her publications & well as her charity told me how she had a child birth when she was 15. Now she is married & like 45+, & happily married to another scholar with kids. She told me how her family & friends supported her. Even that kid is a lawyer now.
It's just some people are just so stupid & they never grow up & unfortunately dont have the courage or opportunity to see the world & come out of their shells. Education is not the only factor. I have heard how honor killings happened in well educated still stupid families in some countries.

It was very necessary according to me...If a non-Indian is going to talk SHIT about India...I as an Indian reserve the full right to show them the mirror...The day I say something wrong about ur country...u can and should do the same...No one should have to sit quietly and have their country insulted by foreigners...

I can see where this is going, and I don't want it to turn an Indo-Pak topic or ur country my country.. Peace.

Yes Middle Eastern people are way worse when it comes to this than Indians. There was this Egyptian guy..in New York I think..killed two of his daughters because he thought they had boyfriends. And he said he did to honor his religion. It's so sad..the teachers and friends of the girls said the girls were good student and good people. It's heartbreaking. :(
Also..I think this happened in the Middle East as well...this woman got shot because she was talking to a guy on street. Seriously? These people are f**ked up.

And I'm no way looking down at their religion because I'm Muslim myself. What these guys do is totally wrong and unethical. Islam teaches you not to kill other people..only God has the right to take away someone's life.

These stories give me nightmares.

My aunt showed me this video on youtube of a live 911 call.
A young 16 year old called 911 in a state of panic coz her father had put both she and her sister in a cab, drove someplace remote, and was trying to kill them. Why? Becuase one of the girls had a boyfriend.

It was one of the most disturbing videos of my life, listening that poor little girl screaming and crying and shouting for help saying my father's killing my sister, he's gonna kill me too. You hear gun shots in the background and then silence.

Both girls were killed by the father and he fled.

Sickening to say the least.
