WHO'S THAT GIRL? Faking It, on Discovery Travel & Living |
The Sunday evening spot is the solution, and Discovery Travel & Living is the messiah.
The channel has introduced a new Sunday lineup, comprising three new shows, to cater to urban couples.
Couples at war
Things I Hate About You (Sundays, 8 pm) treats the theme of trouble in (relationship) paradise. In each episode, a man and woman, armed with personal video cameras, document each other's most irksome habits and irritating behaviours.
The video is then presented to a panel of judges who determine, once and for all, who is the more difficult person to live with. And of course, the dirty laundry then gets aired to the public.
Asli ya nakli?
Faking It (Sundays, 9 pm) follows, with stories about "fakers", who are pulled out from their natural environments and are given four weeks to master foreign skills well enough to fool a group of experts.
So, a computer nerd trains to become a fashion model, a soccer player turns into a salsa dancer and a nerdy college professor reshapes himself as a male stripper!
Within the four-week training period, the "faker" is assisted by a set of professionals; the episode culminates in a final test, in which he competes with three other experienced peers before a panel of judges.
Cycle shop
Finally, American Chopper (Sundays, 10 pm) presents the tension, tirades and triumphs of a custom motorcycle building team, Paul Teutul, Sr and his son Paul, Jr. The programme features their contrasting styles and fiery exchanges and how the two work together, fusing their skills and passions to meet seemingly impossible deadlines and build incredible theme bikes.
So if you're at your wits' end of a Sunday evening, tune in to Discovery for alternative (and intelligent) forms of entertainment — it'll pep you up for the week.
