dharmendra marriage

So, I came across this other topic about amitabh and his affair with rekha...which reminded me of dharmendra marriage. I always was curious about this, well he is married to hema but before that he had his other wife. Did he divorce her and marry hema or was he still married to her because that was never made clear. I mean I know sunny and bobby are kids from his first wife and esha and her sis are from hema; I guess that is why we never see sunny&bobby with hema or esha but yes back to the question did he divorce her or what? does anyone know the real story behind it???
