Since Kumud married someone else, both she and Saras died and became other people. Strangers to one another and to themselves because of love gone wrong. Now that Saras saved her life, he basically shed his false identity forever. We could see that slowly coming when he started defending himself and her even as Navinchandra. His true feelings emerged, feelings which never died. And Kumud came later, when she dared to challenge Pramad in front of everyone and then expose his misdeeds. These two who were fated to be apart, could be together when this love refused to die. Saras couldn't leave her in a place where she was in danger. And Kumud couldn't exist without him any more.
Now if only they could say the three magic words. 😃
