Aage barho... statement toh sirf attention seek karne ke liye itna dramatic banaya 🤣
I would like to add my usual disclaimer. log naa jaane kya kya interpret karte rehte hain...
Disclaimer: The following post has not been written to offend any fan group, any sabzi wala, chai wala, nor the dog next door. It is a simple analysis and nothing more. Toh agar kissi ko mirchi lagi, that was not my intention... it was your reaction. 😳

I once read this article stating that feminism is coming to an end. And I couldn't agree more.
Why? Because our mentality has come to that point where we hide behind the word "feminism" to secret a woman's mistakes.
"The Feminist Movement" in North America, for example, was something that demanded women's rights; a demand for women to be educated, have jobs, and have absolute equality with men.
It was not an excuse for women to hide their double standards, their schemes, or their misjudgements behind. Because that isn't the essence of equality at all.
And that is exactly what Kumud is doing. She's on her mission to sudhaaro-fy Prammy (one she's been on forever, I might add) but at the same time, keeps her ex-boyfriend in the house. Suddenly after a weekend passes, he becomes her support during her difficult times... something that's twistedly parallel to the way Kalika was there for Prammy during his tough times in his childhood. They are dealing with the same thing, yet, Kumud is the Devi here, and Prammy gets tainga. How does that make any sense? 🤔

Kumud created this situation for herself. She let her emotions take over rather than let reason speak every single time: whether it was when she said yes to Prammy without a background check (I forgive her for this one... it shows the consequence of a broken marriage) or whether it was when she told her family she wanted to sudhaaro-fy Prammy and blackmailed them emotionally into supporting her in this task. (So why is everyone complaining that her family sucks... no, it's her. She asked for their support again and again and again, and they're doing as they're told to do. 😕)

Yes, I know, domestic violence is a huge issue.I've been outspoken with the many encounters I've heard about growing up too. It's a real thing that happens EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
And in fact, here in Canada, people are educated about this matter and tell us that the number 1 thing to NOT do is keep domestic violence a secret. You get help from someone who can ACTUALLY help you (queue your leave now, Saras. It was nice to have you... but really, just because Kumud can't fight her own battle, doesn't mean you should do it for her. You're NOT her family, and you're NOT a certified counsellor or social worker.)
So, not only is Kumud showing her double standard, but she's doing absolutely nothing proactive and SMART to prove herself as an equal to Prammy.

You want to be an equal, Kumud? You're going to have to do a lot more than challenge a temperamental alcoholic (with a bad history, I might add) because you're getting repeatedly burned and dumped. You're not showing him you're equal. To him, you're proving that you're beneath him.

inspiration came from you and Tomo, Kiran ji 😊
We can't hide behind the term "feminism" forever. One day, we have to suffer the consequences of our actions. And only fools make the same mistakes more than once.

Edit:

Merlin's beard! Great post that reflects exactly what's on my mind😊

At least the Harvard boy should have known the supremely positive impact of psychotherapy/rehab on extremely depressed/alcoholic patients. Removing Kalika has only exacerbated the already messy situation for Kumud. Just mere wishful thinking with zero steps taken towards what you want to achieve hasn't helped anyone, anywhere, anytime.

I agree that our man Saras should not be living there. Period.

But I don't see how Kumud's situation is the same as Pramad's. Yes she kept Saras' secret hidden, which was and is wrong. But, she's not sleeping with him like Pramad is with Kalika. She's not cheating on her spouse with him like Pramad is with Kalika. And at the end of the day, Kumud's intentions are pure. I agree that her methods aren't the best but she doesn't mean anyone harm. She made this decision and she's sticking to it. Pramad on the other hand wasn't man enough to say no to this marriage and is now abusing his wife and sleeping around with another woman. Therefore I don't think he should be compared with Kumud at all.

I disagree. Yes, I do agree all this was a result of Kumud's hasty decision to marry Pramad without seeing him or knowing him. You said Kalika supporting Pramad since childhood is parallel with the way Saras supports Kumud. Tell me how? Kalika has supported Pramad being untruthful, selfish, and very very clever if you get what I'm saying. Saras on the other hand is doing everything with a clean heart, for the purpose of taking the guilt off his heart. There's a huge difference between the good and the bad. And hence Kumud is the devi and Pramad gets thainga, in your words.

"It was not an excuse for women to hide their double standards, their schemes, or their misjudgements behind. Because that isn't the essence of equality at all."

^^ that seems more like a description of Kalika. She def doesn't represent feminism. And she shows more double standards than any other character in Buddhidhan's house at the moment.

Yes, you shouldn't keep matters of domestic violence silence- but unfortunately many women in India do. India isn't the US or Canada when it comes to womens' rights. Women in India have a lot to go through still to fight for their rights. Gulaabi gang wouldn't exist if they didn't have to go through so many troubles still. All Kumud is trying to do is rectify her husband because somehow she believes that he can change and he will. I'm not saying I agree with what she's doing, but many women in India unfortunately have that mindset. So believe it or not, it is portraying reality. Plus let's not forget she's left her fate in the hands of God and destiny.

I'm glad Kumud backlashed today- it shows that there's a limit every woman can take. It's def not a huge stepping stone in her relationship with her husband, but in a country where 'woman idols' are worshipped, it shows that men can't think they are superior to women all the flipping time. The fact that she's telling her in laws herself in the precap that she can't take this anymore- goes to show that she's finally raised a voice. Her being dumb and accepting Pramad back when he comes to her maternal home, is another issue though.

And bilkul mirchi nahi lagi tere post se. I'm glad such mature discussions can happen on the forum and we can get a deeper insight into characters.

Exactly. If anyone's a weak character it has to be Pramad. He's never proved himself to his parents or his family all thanks to Kalika making him believe he's a nikamma.

Girls in india can never be strong without an good husband
because society in india treats them like second class to men
law treats them like second class not taking complaints from them against abuse, rape etc
Family once marry off a girl never support daughter - she becomes outsider
In laws do not care if daughter in law abused by son
And if someone is single or widowed or divorced woman society think they are at fault and do not let them live
Even most educated and working woman face harassment by family(like brother, sister in laws), in laws, work place silently as law is not strong and a case take 20-30 years to solve
So after all this how can we expect Kumud to be strong?
She has no job, in village where divorce is very big taboo, parents may not take care if she leaves husband house, in laws blame only kumud in front of society never sons fault, society will say she had affair with saras under husbands nose hence husband kicked her out

Myviewprem ji, take a look at mine and Anita's discussion when you have the chance. We were talking about how a woman doesn't actually need a man to be strong. Like the Gulaabi Gang, who stood up for themselves and others through their sense of right and wrong.

Kumud may be in a realistic situation. However, being on television, and having a literary make up that comes from a century old character that helped shape a whole generation gives her a right to be respected. Not kachra'd by a few creative heads. She has done nothing to help herself. She has gone to nobody who could help her. She has left her fate to God... such a typical, TRP bahu thing to do.

Her parents are willing to take her back--- they took her Bhua back after all. So Kumud is privileged, in terms of what you're describing in that sense. She's already been gifted with charisma, to get people to listen, to endorse herself. She has the power. She just doesn't use it in the right way... hence why I called her weak: she is more emotional than rational when it comes to her decisions.
