Yes a wali can not be connected to the groom's family because there is a conflict of interest there, but it can be any other male, usually an Imam/Qazi. The Imam is able to act as Zoya's wali in this case.
Zeenat can not be the wali because it has to be male, but Anwar is her wali. He is not present at the moment though, and in place she could get someone else to act as her Wali. Islamically he does not have to be a legal parent/gaurdian. If Ghafoor was revealed he could be her Wali. The wali is still valid, yes the father/foster father should still try to be there, but if circumstances are such, then the Wali assigned can still be valid. Of course the smartest and easiest thing would be for Anwar to arrive there but this is a show lol. I think at this point we all just have to wait for everything to air.
Also Ayaan and Humaira's "nikkah" was legal through forms of paper, but invalid not only because of the date but also both were unaware what they were signing and at the time Ayaan was not happy with the marriage.
This is the biggest and MOST important thing of a marriage. It has to be consented from both parties on their OWN terms.
I honestly don't know what message Gul has here because she hasn't been clear about that. But I'm waiting to see how she plays this whole thing out. Where was the Qazi in the beginning of the show from the Akram wedding, he would've told all of them lol. Everything else in the nikkah can usually be worked out, but you can't get around the consent of both parties.
It's funny I was talking to one of my friends and she made a very valid point. She laughed and said "Ha ha, well it's tv so they can totally make up an invalid nikkah :P" and she has a point. But its hard not to take some things especially such as this seriously. I think we're all so pressed about this nikkah not being valid/invalid (other than of course most of us wanting to clear up the misconceptions on how the nikkah process is done) is because we really don't want Ayaan and Zoya to be married and a way for Zoya to come back to Asad lol. And after thinking about it, this stuff happens in real life too. Many Muslim families go about Nikkah ceremony and so many things can be considered invalid or valid in the process (maybe this is what Gul is trying to show). I think we also have to remember that Gul may not have been raised the way many other Muslims were. I'm not saying that excuses her because she should definitely research and get it right, but she may show something the way she was brought up with it and think its right, and often this is the case in reality.
