Good post and thanks for bumping it up, I would have it missed it otherwise.
Bigg Boss is a platform which gives you instant recognition but not necessarily success. I found myself googling people like Shilpa and Pratyusha to check out their story. I'm sure so many of us would have also done that for other contestants. In that sense, it is recognition that these people are getting from wider public outside their immediate area of work.
Success, on the other hand, depends on the nature of ambition. I would consider Rakhi a BB success story. She overnight became a Reality TV queen, got to do more shows on TV- two dedicated to her (Swayamvar and Rakhi Ka Insaaf 😳) and item number in films, a Yash Raj film no less (Dil Bole Hadippa, in which incidentally Sherlyn Chopra also "acted"). What worked in Rakhi's favor was that she made her "motor mouth" her USP. At that time, she was the only one so it worked. Now, every other Reality TV contestant runs their mouth and it's not considered controversial anymore.
I think it is revealing too much of your personality in the show that can harm your career as industry considers you to be that person. Shweta, although very popular, remained mysterious through out the show. Even Dolly's dirt on her could not expose her inner workings clearly.
But take someone like Juhi, who although won the show, came across as someone who doesn't listen, is dominating and aggressive. Generally, you wouldn't want to work with someone like that.
Ultimately, it is a combination of talent and personality that can determine where you go from BB, otherwise Rahul Roy had a great personality on BB😃
